Sadly, even in NU Aipom is sorely outclassed by the likes of other offensive Normal-types like Raticate, Vigoroth, Pidgeot, and Furret. There's little that Aipom can do that others can't do better. One thing Aipom does have going for it is its access to Baton Pass, and any set Aipom runs should be featuring it front and center. Outside of that small niche, you're much better off choosing another Normal-type.

- Aipom can make a decent scout to your opponent's answer to another Choice Band attacker like Raticate and Vigoroth
- Great coverage between Double-Edge, Focus Punch, and Shadow Ball
- Baton Pass lets Aipom scout the opponent's switches and maintain momentum

- Jolly is needed to outspeed Glalie and at worst Speed tie Seadra
- Return and Brick Break can be used for reliability but using Aipom is risky in the first place
- Another fast CBer is need to make use of the holes and scouting Aipom's gonna do, Raticate, Vigoroth, Pidgeot being prime examples
