looked around and didnt see a thread about this. if i missed it and there is one sorry!!!!

what new music are you looking forward to in the new year!?

wasnt big on buyin albums in 07 but 08 is looking to be extremely good. new why?, 13 & God, and Subtle are the three I am most excited about. If The Hallows is any indication new Why? is going to be one of my favorite albums ever.

Hear there might be Madvilliany II and new Silver Jews. That'd be pretty sweet.

new Wintersun, Scar Symmetry, Protest the Hero and Opeth for starters. I'm also hoping that the new TMV, Biomechanical, Iced Earth and Meshuggah are good.

i had no idea why? was coming out with a new album, but since oaklandazulasylum, elephant eyelash, and the sanddollars ep have all been fucking phenominal i see no reason why the brilliance would stop. he is so talented that it makes me feel like im wasting my life.

subtle im kinda edgy about tbh!!! i really really liked a new white, it was excellent. for hero: for fool didnt really hit me nearly as hard except for middleclass stomp and middleclass kill which were fucking epic.

as for 13 & god i havent been following them too closely, i really liked their one album i have (its just called 13 & god, i dont know if they have any others!!), but i found it didnt flow too well. dose is obviously an amazing rapper and i actually enjoy the notwist but that album was one example of hip hop and indie rock not fitting too well together. i loved the songs that were almost entirely notwist, and i loved the songs where dose just spat nonstop, but when they melded together it didnt really strike me as that impressive.

i remember being kinda surprised actually, as why? combines hip hop and indie so fucking well you'd think they were the same genre, but 13 & god made it seem way less homogenous. i havent really been keeping up with my anticon., does dose have any plans beyond subtle and 13 & god this year?

as for other bands, im really excited for the gaslight anthem's new album as sink or swim was absolutely perfect. i also heard billy bragg is releasing a couple singles this year that i am going to pick up without question.

oh also i am looking forward to xiu xiu's new album, women as lovers i think its called. and apparently defiance, ohio have plans for something new which i am really eagerly awaiting but i dunno if its for 2008.

beyond that i havent heard too much!!!!

First single of the album. Phenomenal stuff. Same kind of thing I love them the most for but also very unique for them. The day it came out I listened to it like 50 times in a row.

hm i really really liked 13 & God. probably one of my 20 or so favorite albums. towards the end of the album it got weaker, but the first 2/3 of it is one of my favorite parts of any album ever. sounds totally unlike any anything else, and the atmosphere of the notwist sections clashing with dose's rapping was great imo
 
Sorry everyone but I will be looking forward to The Mars Volta's new release no matter how pretentious it may/(will?) be.
 
New Anathema, Opeth, Muse (probably), Metallica, In Flames, Wintersun, Coldplay is what I can think of right now. Meshuggah, Iced Earth I guess as well. I can't come up with something else right now.
 
All I can think of right now is Aerosmith's 15th studio album. I'm interested somewhat since I've heard there'll be a cover of Highway Star.
 
The Boards of Canada remix of Good Friday is by far the star of the Hallows single though. Holy shit i love that track.

New Mountain Goats (Heretic Pride) is on the internet. I understand it's very good.

from what I know promo copies of Fortress have been sent out. why the hell did it not leak yet ?_?

the new mars volta was decent, better than the last two albums but not as good as deloused.

also, protest the hero - fortress and meshuggah - obzen both leaked a few days ago. if you like pth or meshuggah, make sure to get these as they are absolutely awesome.

Rigorous copy protection, but it's leaked now. I don't care as I pre-ordered it anyway.

Suicidal Tendencies is great.
