Alexander (M)
Abilities: Steadfast, Justified
HP: 35
EN: 65
SPEED: 80 (20)
STAT: N/A
OTHER: Paralyzed (15%)
Nyx kicks off the round by striking Alex with an Astonishing blow. As much as the damage is small it hits in just the right way and flinches the Gallade. Unfortunately it is a double edged sword because despite not being able to act this round Alex's Steadfast activates and makes him faster for future rounds.

Its still not fast enough with that paralysis though so Nyx goes first again and Hexes Alex, channeling that very ailment for added damage. Gallade prefers to Torment the foe and stop any such repeated attacks.

Nyx tries to end the round with some Acrobatics but with the new torment he is unable to recall the specifics of the move. Alex busts out the big guns to end us by taking advantage of the massive HP difference between the two by Splitting their Pain so everyone goes back to even! It did use a very lot of energy though but on the plus side the residual damage on the balloon is really adding up.

Action 1
Nyx: Astonish > (4 + 3 - 3 + (3-4)*1.5)*1.5 = 3.75 = 4 [4 DMG] [2 EN]
Alexander: Alexander flinched! > Alexander's Steadfast activated! > Alexander's Speed rose!

Nyx is hurt by the burn! [2 DMG]

Both are on the weary side but Alex is moving in for the kill. Unfortunately the blimp is faster and she conjures up a bulky Substitute to take the damage for her. Its a good thing she made it so big, because the Ice Punch the Gallade thrusts into it does a lot of damage right off the bat.

Now comes the real key to Nyx's plan though as Alexander Sneaks into the Shadows before emerging with one hell of a ThunderPunch! The move would defintiely have KOed Nyx if it weren't for that sub which now goes down after having done a very good job. Unfortunately the combination wasn't as costly as Nyx may have hoped and Alex is left standing with a sliver of energy. The Drifblim takes this chance to bolster her own energy stores with a chill.

The round ends with Nyx unleashing a Thunderbolt to the still recovering Gallade for some nice Flare Boosted damage, but unfortunately all those status' are building up and she is not long for this battle.

Action 1
Nyx: Substitute > Nyx made a 25 HP substitute! [-25 HP] [24 EN]

Its last ditch attempt time here because after she is through basically beating down two of the opponent's Pokemon Nyx knows its the end of the line. She charges up for a moment before unleashing a massive, Aftermath boosted Explosion to bring Alex right to within an inch of his own demise as she causes her own in the process. Not a bad way to spend that last 4 HP if you ask me. One can't help but wonder where Alex's Shadow Sneak was this time though...

I was under the impression that the round ended at the end of the action, not immediately after a KO.

But oh well.

Sorry Alch, I've always ended a round as soon as one side is left empty so as not to allow for chilling/recoveries when unopposed.

Another short and sweet round here folks. Exactly like his opponent last round, Alexander knows his time here has come to an end. Unforunately he doesn't have access to such devastating means of an exit and instead has to settle for a Rock Slide that still does some very good damage to poor 4 times weak Iseria. Although the Pressure she exherts does make certain that the move uses up every bit of Alex's remaining energy (and some more in fact) to leave him out of this battle. We're square at two all here folks!

<Alchemator> so do I get a counterswitch or not
<Objection> I'd say since the pokemon isn't technically released until the start of the round, yes

If Persephone uses Will-o-Wisp, use Protect and push actions back, but not if you used Protect on the previous action.
If Persephone uses Shadow Ball, use Protect and push actions back, but not if you used Protect on the previous action.

The latest thing I can find written down in terms of Substitution rules is this:

In any case, people seem to have acclamated to the new Substitution rules, so I'm going to bump it up from 20 to 22 on the 19+ Mons without the vote.
Persephone meets the critera for two substitutions under these rules. If this is no longer the case, then simply disregard the second substitution.

So after a lot of switching and swapping around we begin this 10th round with two new Pokemon on the field. Clive the defensive behemoth Claydol finds himself opposed to the fiery ghost type Persephone the Chandelure.

Clive kicks things off wary of strong attacks coming his way and just sets up a Protect. Persephone knows she can't damage the doll but wants to make his choice a costly one as she blasts a fierce Shadow Ball into the shield and causes Clive to expend a lot of energy in maintaining it stays intact.

The middle of the round comes with Persephone looking to charge up another strong blow, this time with sunlight as her modus operandi rather than shadow. While she is charging Clive takes its chance to pounce. The psychic doll Splits the offensive Powers between the two and in the process bolsters his own Special Attacking prowess while diminishing the opponents! (The physical side may have been the opposite story but I don't think either are too worried about that!) Nevertheless the Chandelure's Solarbeam hits and hits hard and sends the Levitator spinning for a loop.

We close out the round exactly as we began it with Clive Protecting itself from another Shadow Ball. Albeit a slightly weaker one with Persy's muted attack.

Another lot of switching seed Persephone exit the stage as sooon as she arrived on it, no doubt wanting to save herself for the Steel type on the other side that otherwise walls everything. Nevertheless Iseria is back out and ready to rock and roll.

Unfortunately the queen brings with her a near crippling 4 times weakness which Clive is quick to pounce on. Fortunately her own bulk keeps the damage from Clive's AncientPower to a minimum and Iseria is able to match the damage herself by Ordering her little Combee brood to Attack.

Action 2 sees Clive fire off another moderately impressive AncientPower as the Vespiqueen is forced to use a somewhat less useful Bug Bite in order to conserve some energy.

The round ends in a stalemate, with another of Clive's favourite Protective barriers completely stopping Iseria's Toxic from doing anything of use.
