Consider this: my player for whatever reason misses the time they scheduled for their first game on the first Sunday. The opposing team tags us and expects a substitute within 30 minutes, and after 25 minutes my player still has not shown up. Now I have the option to not make a sub and take a guaranteed loss, or make the sub and have someone other than my starter in for the next 2 games of that slot. This kind of lose-lose situation sucks.

So the proposal is very simple: Allow managers to sub in a player for only 1 specific match up in a group, provided that the reason for subbing is the original player missing the time, as denoted by the @Team tag. The player that is subbing in may not be subbed in again for the rest of Round 1, even in the same slot.

I understand if you decide that it’s too close to this WCOP’s start to implement it for this one (though this isn’t very disruptive anyway and would be fine to implement this year imo), but even if that’s the case, please consider implementing this for next year.

not much to say except i agree with this proposal im surprised it has taken this long to be discussed.
I often bring up the hypothetical of "would you rather sub in X or take the loss and keep Y in for the rest of pools" and it often ends up being a nuanced debate, which isn't good, the more games played the better.

the one thing you have to figure out is what happens to subsequent instances?
Say P1 gets subbed over P2 for match A, but then P2 misses time again for match B, does P1 get to sub in match B too?

I think you should be able to sub replacement 1 in for anywhere between 0 and 3 games for starter 1, though if starter 2 also misses obviously replacement 1 can only sub in for one of the two. And you should also be able to sub in replacement 2, again as long as each substitute only replaces at most one player.

Partial substitutions will now be allowed in WCOP, starting with the upcoming main stage next week. When subbing in a player, you are no longer required to sub the starter out of all remaining games, and can now specify for which matchups they will be replacing the starter. The player subbing in is allowed to sub again, but only in the slot they subbed into originally.

The above table from QT is an accurate representation of how WCOP substitutions will now work.
