Freeze-Dry makes it a menace in the Water matchup, dealing heavy damage to Swampert, Gastrodon, and Pelipper. Encore enables Alolan Ninetales to disrupt walls and slower setup sweepers like Ting-Lu and Tapu Fini. Alolan Ninetales's teammates appreciate its supportive capabilities; setup sweepers like Swords Dance Weavile and Dragon Dance Baxcalibur have a lot more setup opportunities, and offensive Pokemon like Galarian Darmanitan have an easier time switching in. Cloyster is a stellar partner; its defensive set removes entry hazards with Rapid Spin and sets Spikes to wear down Keldeo and Toxapex for Alolan Ninetales, while Shell Smash variants can more easily set up with its assistance.
