[SET COMMENTS]
Amoonguss is a great mixed wall on Grass teams that can act as a hard-to-remove defensive pivot thanks to Regenerator, stay healthy throughout the game with its healing options, and check key threats such as Iron Valiant, Sneasler, and Enamorus. It can also absorb Toxic Spikes and switch in on Toxic, which is crucial for Grass teams. Foul Play lets Amoonguss turn the tables on Swords Dance users such as Scizor and Mimikyu as well as physically oriented Dragapult and Jirachi. Sludge Bomb allows Amoonguss to hit Spore-immune Pokemon and major threats such as Breloom, Meowscarada, and Iron Valiant. Finally, Spore allows Amoonguss to give its teammates, such as Torterra and Ogerpon-H, free turns to set up by putting foes to sleep. Rocky Helmet punishes contact moves such as Choice Scarf Sneasler's Dire Claw and stops the opponent from using U-turn for free on Amoonguss. Heavy-Duty Boots can be run if Brambleghast is not a teammate, as it allows Amoonguss to come in without worrying about entry hazard damage. The given EV spread allows Amoonguss to survive Choice Specs Greninja's Ice Beam so that it can be put to sleep by Spore while being as physically bulky as possible.
Ogerpon-H appreciates being able to come in on sleeping foes and potentially win the game with Swords Dance. It also threatens Steel- and Ice-types, such as Corviknight, Gholdengo, Alolan Ninetales, and Articuno. In exchange, Amoonguss can not only put foes to sleep but also absorb Toxic Spikes and Toxic from walls such as Toxapex and take on revenge killers such as Choice Scarf Sneasler. Torterra is another setup sweeper that greatly appreciates Amoonguss removing Toxic Spikes and putting opposing Pokemon to sleep with Spore to create a free setup opportunity. In return, Torterra threatens opposing Poison- and Steel-types, such as Galarian Slowking and Gholdengo, that Amoonguss doesn't want to deal with. Hisuian Lilligant is another good partner for Amoonguss, as it appreciates being able to use Victory Dance on sleeping foes that would otherwise threaten it, such as Landorus, as well as fit a coverage move of choice over Sleep Powder. It also appreciates Amoonguss taking on the threats that it cannot handle even after a boost, such as Choice Scarf Enamorus and Choice Scarf Sneasler. In return, Hisuian Lilligant can beat Gliscor and Dragonite on Flying teams thanks to Ice Spinner while hitting Steel-types such as Heatran that can threaten Amoonguss. Breloom can also beat opposing Steel-types thanks to its Fighting STAB moves, as well as tackle troublesome Dark-types such as Kingambit thanks to Mach Punch. Choice Scarf Meowscarada provides Grass teams with speed control, as well as hitting dangerous threats such as Chien-Pao, Hydreigon, Galarian Slowking, and Hoopa-U. It appreciates Amoonguss being able to switch in on Fairy-types like Clefable in return. Brambleghast can remove hazards to let Amoonguss run Rocky Helmet and switch in more safely. It can also set its own hazards thanks to Spikes, letting it compound on Amoonguss's Rocky Helmet chip damage. Finally, Brambeghast can switch into Hurricane from the likes of Zapdos and Tornadus-T, hit annoyances to Amoonguss, such as Hatterene and Gholdengo, with a strong Poltergeist, and revenge kill threats such as Flutter Mane with Shadow Sneak. Sinistcha serves as a reliable answer to threats such as Zamazenta that would otherwise use Amoonguss as setup fodder. Abomasnow provides Amoonguss with a nifty Ice neutrality, being able to take on Chien-Pao thanks to its defensive typing, snow's Defense boost, and Aurora Veil. Rillaboom provides Grassy Terrain for Amoonguss to help it recover without having to switch out or use a turn on Synthesis.

Clear Smog is a good option over Sludge Bomb, as it lets Amoonguss beat setup Pokemon one-on-one that would otherwise use it as fodder, such as Clefable. Amoonguss can run Black Sludge for some extra longevity; however, both the chip damage of Rocky Helmet and the safe switch-ins afforded by Heavy-Duty Boots usually do better than it considering Amoonguss's already-excellent staying power. Worry Seed is an option to cripple Gliscor by removing its Poison Heal, but it is hard to fit on the set.
