Regenerator keeps it alive, Spore keeps you guessing—Amoonguss controls the game! Amoonguss plays a pivotal role in checking key physical threats for Poison teams such as Hisuian Samurott, Ogerpon-W, and physical variants of Dragapult. Giga Drain assists in keeping the mushroom healthy while also dealing super effective damage to Pokemon such as Great Tusk and Hippowdon. Foul Play slams threats such as the Ogerpon formes and deters them from using Amoonguss as setup fodder. Spore is what makes Amoonguss so infuriating to deal with, as it allows Poison teams to reposition themselves and get allies such as Sneasler and Iron Moth in safely. Amoonguss is pretty helpless versus Fire- and Ice-types such as Ogerpon-H, Ceruledge, and Weavile. Therefore, it appreciates Toxapex as a teammate to help deal with these threats. Amoonguss is also threatened by special attackers that force it out, like Gholdengo and Greninja with Extrasensory; therefore, it appreciates Alolan Muk as a partner to check them.

Amoongus plays a pivotal role in role in checking key physical threats for poison teams such as Scizor, (Amoonguss just gets hard stomped by Dual Wingbeat variants and just loses a direct 1v1 if Scizor gets an SD boost while its switching in since +2 BP is a 2HKO and we don't OHKO back in reponse with Foul Play) Hisuian Samurott, Ogerpon-W and Physical variants of Dragapult. Giga Drain assists in keeping The mushroom healthy while also dealing super effective damage to Pokemon such as Great Tusk and Hippowdon. Foul Play slams threats such as the aforementioned Scizor Ogerpon formes (Hearth and Corner can't OHKO it without SD, and with a crit in C's case, so Foul play does good damage to them.) and deter it from using it as setup fodder. Spore is what makes Amoongus so infuriating to deal with as everyone that’s not Grass type or immune to sleep will catch some Z’s (This sentence kind of comes off as just Dex info, and the main use for Poison is using it to reposition and safely get in teammates like Iron Moth and Sneasler on an incapacitated foe). Synthesis is the last move that ensures it’s longevity further compounded by regenerator. (Filler) Amoongus is pretty helpless versus Fire types Fire- and Ice-types such as Ogerpon-H, and Ceruledge, and Weavile. Therefore, it appreciates Toxapex as a teammate to help it deal with these threats. Amoongus is passive versus Gholdengo as Spore cannot touch it therefore it appreciates teammates such as Iron moth and Alolan Muk to apply direct pressure to it. (While true, I would prefer for this to just be about the special attacking threats that force it out such as Gholdengo and Extrasensory Greninja and how Alolan Muk can check them.)
