Introduction:

This team is a bulky offense team that centers around setting hazards with Forretress, blowing huge holes in the opposition with Kyurem-W, before cleaning up with the remaining 4 Pokemon: Arceus-Steel, Latias, Kyogre, and Kingdra. At the same time, Arceus-Steel, Latias, Kyogre, and Kingdra all serve to check the opposing team with either bulk or speed. Due to this, the majority of other teams can be beaten with good play; it is rare to find a team that has an overwhelming team advantage.

My experience with this team is why I feel that Kyurem-W is possibly the most devastating Pokemon in Ubers at the moment: Kyurem-W's ability to consistently break through the opposing team's walls is completely key to this team's success.

This team peaked #1 on the PS ladder with a ~90% win ratio (and all of my losses were due to horrible hax), under the alt "snipor", although, admittedly, the ladder isn't that competitive at the moment.

Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SpDef

-Stealth Rock
-Spikes
-Volt Switch
-Rapid Spin

Forretress is used on this team because of its ability to spin, set-up hazards, lure in Giratina(-O), and to "beat" Ferrothorn.

By spinning and setting up hazards, it allows Kyurem-W to come in as many times as possible and to punish the opponent for trying to beat Kyurem-W by "smart switching". Kyurem-W also gets a free-switch in from all of the Giratinas that try to spinblock against my Forretress. Forretress also beats Ferrothorn by using it to set-up hazards while simultaneously spinning away the opposing hazards, which is important as Ferrothorn checks basically the rest of my team if played correctly. Finally, this works as a pivot against difficult Pokemon, such as Terrakion, as it can Volt Switch to an appropriate Pokemon.

Kyogre @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Drizzle
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe

-Water Spout
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Thunder

Scarf Kyogre is used on this team because of its ability to set-up rain and check faster threats. It also forms a dual water core with Kingdra, and often provides the power for the core, as it punches holes into the opposition which Kingdra can often clean up.

Kyogre's ability to set-up rain is beneficial in the way that it provides a check for sun teams; lessens both Arceus-Steel's and Forretress' weakness to Fire, which, in the latter's case, allows it to safely set-up against Pokemon like Giratina-O; and activates Kingdra's Swift Swim ability, making it dangerous even in Ubers. It also checks faster threats such as Darkrai and Mewtwo due to its Choice Scarf and its Hydro Pump (which is why Hydro Pump is chosen over Surf).

It punches holes into the opposition's Water resists, most notably Ferrothorn, with its powerful Hydro Pump; if Ferrothorn is weakened to ~30%, Kingdra can then OHKO Ferrothorn with Hydro Pump.

Kingdra @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
Nature: Mild
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe
-Waterfall
-Draco Meteor
-Hydro Pump
-Outrage

Kingdra is used on this team because of its ability to check faster threats that Kyogre cannot deal with, while also being able to clean up weakened teams. It forms a dual water core with Kyogre, and often cleans up what Kyogre has started.

Kingdra's Swift Swim ability allows it to revenge some dangerous threats to this team such as Rock Polish Groudon, Latias, and Scarf Palkia. It also checks Kyogre, which allows me to play my Latias more aggressively than I otherwise would be able to. It is also common for me to allow my Kyogre to die to an Outrage, only to have my Kingdra to swiftly revenge. As stated above, it also works with Kyogre to clean up weakened teams.

Arceus-Steel @ Iron Plate
Ability: Multitype
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpAtk / 252 Spe
-Judgment
-Will-o-Wisp
-Recover
-Calm Mind

Arceus-Steel is used on this team to absorb the numerous Dragon attacks thrown throughout the Uber tier and to check Extremekiller Arceus. It also serves to weaken Ferrothorn and as a win-condition against certain stall teams.

Arceus' typing and bulk allow it to almost completely check Kyurem-W and Kyurem-B, along with other threats such as Latias. It also is my only check to Extremekiller Arceus (although WoW's accuracy is horrible). It lures in Ferrothorn, and can weaken it by burning it, which helps Kyogre and Kingdra, while also making Forretress capable of beating it 1 on 1. Finally, Arceus-Steel can beat some stall teams as a last Pokemon; it is common for me to sacrifice all of my Pokemon to allow Arceus-Steel to sweep the other team.

380.png

Latias @ Soul Dew
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe
-Dragon Pulse
-Psyshock
-Recover
-Calm Mind

Latias is used primarily as a Kyogre and Groudon check. It also checks most Fighting types It also beats stall teams that have had their steel-type removed.

Latias is the best Kyogre check, with its ability to tank Specs Water Spouts in the rain easily, while also being able to retaliate with a powerful Psyshock. It also works to check Groudon, as it is the only Ground-immune on this team. It can 2HKO even Support Groudon with Dragon Pulse, while Rock Polish Groudon cannot OHKO with Stone Edge. It is also used as a Fighting check, as it can switch in on Arceus-Fighting and Terrakion (assuming they use their Fighting STAB).

Kyurem-W @ Choice Specs
Ability: Turboblaze
Nature: Modest
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe
-Draco Meteor
-Ice Beam
-Focus Blast
-Fusion Flare

Kyurem-W is the epitome of power. It is used to break through the opponent's walls, so as to allow my other Pokemon to sweep. It does amazing things like OHKO Forretress with Specs Draco Meteor. Most of the time, I use Ice Beam unless the opponent has a Heatran, as it 2HKOes pretty much the whole metagame. I switch it into most Groudon, as it can tank an Earthquake pretty easily and retaliate with an Ice Beam, which will 2HKO the whole opposing team the majority of the time. Focus Blast in needed along with Fusion Flare to beat Arceus-Steel in the rain. Interestingly, without SR, this checks Extremekiller pretty well, as it only OHKOes with +2 Extremespeed 30% of the time.

-------

Threats:

Terrakion and Offensive Groudon are the main threats to this team, seeing as I have no 100% counter to both of them, while they both 2HKO my whole team. Latias is my best bet for both, and I basically need to keep it at 100% to win. Kingdra can also revenge both of them, but it doesn't stop Terrakion before it blows holes in my team, and I have to sacrifice Kyogre against Groudon if I want Kingdra to revenge it.

Your Arceus, Latias and Kingdra don't have movesets.

Also your spread on Forretress is inefficient. You either made a mistake and wanted to put Bold instead of Calm, or you just do have wrong evs. If it is the second, by running a spread of Impish 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SpD, you get the same stats, and 15 more points in SpD.

I've seen you use this team before, and you play it well. IMO you have some minor issues with DDRay coming in on Forry (or threatening to OHKO Kingdra), but nobody uses Rayquaza anymore, so it isn't that big a deal. And you probably aggressively Volt Switch with Forry against teams with DDRay anyways.

Good team.

thanks for the evs and for reminding me about the movesets x)

yeah i use forry pretty aggressively against most teams, and i always double switch out of forry the first time it's in the field basically because so many pokemon try to use forry as set up bait

despite how bulky this team is, it's really more of an offensive team than of a balanced team tbh simply because i play really aggressively

Great team.

One thing I do find amusing is that your team is weak to three of your own Pokemon. Obviously, a mirrormatch is still a 50/50 (although it places more emphasis on who gets to send them out first). Forretress, Kingdra, and Steel Arceus can be problematic to your team.

Forretress can come into Latias or Kyogre, and Rapid Spin away the entry hazards you placed down, and Toxic Latias if it needs to. The concern here is that if you don't have entry hazards down, you will lose momentum against certain teams. Particularly, defensive sun teams can cause a lot of problems, as your only coverage against stall is Steel Arceus (Kingdra and Latias to a small extent, but the former only does about 39% to Chansey with rain LO Waterfall, and Forretress can cause problems for the latter), and Steel Arceus is usually covered by some sun boosted fire attacks of some kind. Ho-Oh will cause a lot of grief due to its Regenerator ability, as well, if SR comes off the field.

Steel Arceus: You have no reliable way of taking it out. If it has CM, it will just do that and mess you up. Scarfogre can only hold for so long, and Roar tends to make things a bit complicated since you can't even engage a Steelceus stall war (x__x).

Kingdra: Yeah well...without Ferro, Dialga, or Grassceus it's going to do a ton of damage and I'm sure you're pretty aware of this :P

Also Lati@s with Thunder can pose a threat since nothing short of your own Latias (who you won't be sending it because Thunder paralysis messes it up), and Kyurem-W (which you obviously don't want to fight Lati@s with) resists it.

Unfortunately, there is not much I can do without -really- messing up the team structure. By that I mean, replacing about 3 members of your team. The team is pretty strong as it is.

Looks like a pretty cool team. If Latias goes down, you have an Arceus-Fight weakness, but if you play conservatively you can easily keep it alive. Ho-Oh can give you some trouble since it gets free switchins on Arceus Steel so Kyogre can be taken down more easily and worn down faster in general, but again, you have enough offense to force Ho-oh out.

Only thing I'd change is the 4 HP evs on Kyurem-W. Put them into defense, else you are 4hko'd by Stealth Rocks. With an odd HP amount, you live the 4th stealth rock with 1 percent.

thanks for the rate.

forretress is pretty annoying as it's pretty much a complete stop to my latias, but the one good thing about toxic / gyro-ball less forretress is that it offers an amazing switch in for my kyurem-w which lets it basically blow up any blissey-less team. sun stall teams are annoying to be sure, but they are almost always weak to latias and i usually get the weather advantage because nobody likes switching in their chanseys to kingdra so they usually sack their groudon to it, haha. (also in worst chance scenarios waterfall has that sexy 20% flinch [;)

steel arceus basically relies on my burning it with my own steel arceus then beating it down with waterfall! but cm thunder steel arceus pretty much bones my team i agree

and i am happy that i am the only one that uses kingdra on he ladder atm c:

also yeah, electric types kill me, especially b/c thunder's para chance is so annoying -____-... an earlier incarnation of this team was swept by scarf thundurus-t actually

yeah, arceus fight would be pretty annoying, but i play pretty aggressively with my arceus-steel, which is what arceus-fight will come into 99% of the time, so i'll just burn it then it becomes a non-issue almost because a burned arceus-fight lives really shortly: i usually sac my forry then i can revenge easily with eithe rkyogre or kingdra (assuming latias is down).

ho-oh would be annoying as well, but it's relaly most teams' answer to kyurem-w so they usually are really weakened by midgame / endgame: they get 2hkoed by stuff like +1 judgment after sr, and sometimes they even get ohkoed if kyurem-w gets off an ice beam!

also thanks for the ev change im really bad at evs haha ^^v
