Another Australian tournament

The 3v3 No Sleep Clause format is pretty horrible to plan for.

Thinking I'll just go in with the best Pokemon in the format and see how I do. There is really no point in thinking too much about it, if it's hard enough to cover all the bases in 6v6 then 3v3 is a bloody coinflip. Still, it's going to be terrible if I end up fighting some lucksack that 3-0s me with Sleep + Quick Claw, it's an uphill battle even with Lum Berry on the opener. A Swiss format would be so much better, prevent people from lucking out :/

On the bright side, Tyranitar evolves at 55 and is therefore not a legal choice for the format. Futures in Brick Break TMs plummet.
 
I think I saw that magmortar (CosisCheap) coz i work upstairs at Fountain Gate and during my break at work I had a quick look at the video screen of doom.

From what I saw, every second person had an empoleon.
Unfortunately I didnt enter coz i was working 9-5 saturday and sunday plus my team was only up to level 40, not EV trained, and Not with the final pokemon I want.
It sucks only having 7 days to prepare.
 
Anyone going to bring the Latis?

Reports from serebii.net imply that there are tons of the bloody things, which is going to make things irritating. Both Latis and a Wobbuffet would make for an interesting team.

I have to agree with the empoleons - but eventually the original standards started to frequent a lot more.

Oh, apparently someone used a Magikarp in one of the southland matches. At one point in the battle, it used hyperbeam, followed by explosion. There's a youtube vid showing the battle. Despite poorly recorded, it brang me quite a lot of laughs. xD
 
i wanna use a luvdisc... i remember last years journey across oz, some kid used a luvdisc and won against another kid with a raichu o.O

maybe luvdisc gets even better in dp?
 
I'm going to the Sydney one next week and plan on using a 'Vire, a Male Lopunny (nicknamed Confused of course) and probably a Togekiss.

I don't plan to do all that well, but I should have fun.
 
Any reports on what the verdict is on Soul Dew? I'd bring a Choice Specs Latios just in case that's apparantly not allowed or something.
 
I wasn't thinking it wouldn't be allowed because you can't get it (you can, PBR) but more because it was...broken. Guess I should have known better.

Not as retarded as no sleep clause :/ Lati's got the exact same speed as Gengar, so it might not be the easy ticket to victory.

Oh BTW, if you hadn't already heard, sylvan scrying is in 10th and apparently you can't buy them anywhere
 
Im thinking of taking a Cresselia but is there enough time to ev train it, seeing as though its caught on level 50? Basically im asking can i get the bonus from evs without growing a level?

Use EXP Share and switch Pokemon a lot in combat..the XP gets divided but the EVs don't, if I recall correctly.
 
Yeah thats what I was thinking about doing. I'm guessing the EVs will be added to the stat if I put it in a box then remove it. Is that right?

Yeah, pretty sure that's how it works. Make sure you fix up their EVs with berries and such.

In some respects it's actually quite convenient that the level cap is 50. Does make EV training a bit annoying though.
 
50 is a mixed blessing. It removes Tyranitar and Giratina but it also means I can't use my tri attack Porygon-Z, it learns that at 51. Also Yanmega learns Bug Buzz at 54, I'll have to find a replacement move.
 
If you truly wanted to use those moves, you would be breeding 2 of the pokemon together. I did it with my Tangrowth just to get power whip :P (learned at 54)

I'm pretty sure having soul dew is legit. They don't really check properly anyway.

Crap quality if you ask me, but at least its some footage. I feel like buying a video camera to actually record something properly next event :x

Yeah I wanna go to one next week but I have no idea on what team I'm taking. I'm new to this stuff so I have no idea but like, definitely needs a team with Wobbuffet in it. Are we allowed to use Uxie, Azelf and Mesprit? Is Metagross a viable choice?
