Another Warstory... I tried.

Swell, I leave for a month or two, and look what happens when I return! A new warstory archive, just for me? =D No? Well, um… yeah.

This is a battle between me and my brother, a (so-called) eight-year old genius named Evan – certainly more psychologically capable than poor old Joseph, at any rate. We’ve raised these pokes with almost stingy secrecy, and the only thing I know about his team is that he has an Alakazam and possibly a Crawdaunt, most likely with odd nicknames. Well, I hope you enjoy this warstory. <- Famous last words >.>

(Revised) Team Mepop

Cacturne- CactyMac
Lanturn – Sparkplug
Yanmega – YANMAMA
Dunsparce – Stripes
Flygon – Blitzkrieg
Kingler – Lancelot

Incidentally, we aren’t playing by tier at all – the only
rules are no ubers.

Villanious Team Johny. What the… that’s not even his name…

Alakazam – 36%SPOON
Sharpedo – KISAME
Primeape – MONK Y
Raticate – FATRATCAT
Bronzong – IRONMAN!?
Charizard – LIZARD=)=(

Eight year old genius, my eye… then again, didn’t Einstein once say imagination was more important than knowledge? No Crawdaunt here, but what’s a kisame? :/

I admit this regrettably, but I was a bit cocky starting the battle – but in my defense, how can anyone possibly NOT underestimate someone who starts out with something as inane as a 36%SPOON?

Battle start!

Mepop sent out CactyMac! (Cacturne)
Johny sent out 36%SPOON! (Alakazam)

I suspect Focus Blast, and hastily prepare a sucker punch in retaliation.

CactyMac used Sucker Punch! (100%)
36%SPOON died!
5-6

Good start! (you know your soul has gone to hell when you take pleasure in watching a whiskered old dude being raped by a cactus)

Johny sent out FATRATCAT! (Raticate)

That fat rat cat! That fat rat cat! I do not like that fat rat cat!... Er, expecting some sort of trick, I decide the direct approach is probably the best approach, and bomb him.

FATRATCAT used substitute!
CactyMac used Seed Bomb!
Subsitute faded!

Ah, I thought so. And as all good storytellers know, only the exciting parts about a story are worth mentioning… so I shall skip a bit of the battle, to the part where I defeat his third substitute.

FATRATCAT used substitute! (25% left)
CactyMac used seed bomb!

For some reason I expect reversal, so I chuckle and go for a sucker punch.

CactyMac used sucker punch!
?! It failed!
FATRATCAT used substitute! (1 HP LEFT)
Salac berry boosted FATRATCAT’S speed

What a brilliant move on my part

FATRATCAT used reversal! (99%)
Focus sash saves CactyMac’s sorry hide.
CactyMac used Seed Bomb!
The substitute faded!

Both fighters, as the bothersome announcer from Pokemon Stadium 2 would put it, are hanging by the skin of their teeth. Left with no choice, I-

CactyMac used Sucker Punch! (1%)
FATRATCAT fainted, of course. That was pretty annoying.
4-6

Good, good.

Johny sent out KISAME! (Sharpedo)

Bad, bad.

CactyMac used Sucker Punch! (~50%)
Rough skin killed him. Too bad.
4-5

Our first casualty for the battle. Do not worry, CactyMac, someone will avenge you. Eventually.

Mepop sent out YANMAMA! (Yanmega)

Anticipating a switch –

Johny returned KISAME.
Johny sent out IRONMAN?!! (Bronzong)
YANMAMA used Hypnosis!
IRONMAN?! fell asleep.
Speed boost boosted speed! (I need a better way of saying that. >.>)

Perfect! Bronzong would’ve been a real pain, anyway… too bad YANMAMA has choice specs on, now I switch or face a temper tantrum after using hypnosis again – “NO FAIR! SLEEP CLAUSE WAS ON! WE HAD A DEAL!”

Johny returned IRONMAN?!!
Mepop returned YANMAMA!
Johny sent out MONK Y! (Primeape)
Mepop sent out Lancelot! (Kingler)

My noble knight stared down his… pig-monkey. Art thou craven? All the moves in my arsenal aren’t very effective except crabhammer and flail, so of course I chose the former – a critical error.

MONK Y used substitute!
Lancelot used Crabhammer!
A critical hit!
The substitute faded!
Anger point kicked in!

Hmm… I wasn’t really paying attention, and I guess I thought Anger Point was just a one – step boost. Expecting close combat, I make an incredibly stupid switch.

Mepop returned Lancelot!
Mepop sent out YANMAMA! (Yanmega)
MONK Y used Close Combat! (100%?!)
YANMAMA died, which was sad.
4-4

I ran a few calculations afterwards, and have concluded that his Primeape must have been carrying blackbelt, or possibly that YANMAMA’s defense IVs were a lot lower than I thought.

But NOW I finally realized Anger Point MAXED your attack, and freaked out.

Mepop sent out Sparkplug (Lanturn). To clear up room, I’ll make this short – MONK Y killed him too.
4-3

Aw, now I’M behind. I’m thinking here I finally calmed down, and realized that choice scarf Flygon was the only way to clear the tables of this rampaging fuzzball.

Mepop sent out Blitzkrieg! (Flygon)
Blitzkrieg used DRACO METEOR MWAHAHAHAHA (100%)
Primeape was killed! Good riddance…
Special attack fell.
3-3

You decide now; who’s in the lead? Sure, he has a sleeping Bronzong, but I’ve got a Flygon stuck on Draco Meteor. On a more positive note, at least my bloodthirsty monkey problem has been eliminated. (No racist slur intended.)

Johny sent out LIZARD! (charizard)

He knows I’ve got a choice scarf, and expects me to switch… If this is bellyzard, I’m in trouble. My only hope is to keep Blitzkrieg in and try to prevent a substitute. And I absolutely refuse to add the little emoticons after LIZARD. >.>

Blitzkrieg used Draco Meteor! (~50%)
Special attack dropped.
LIZARD used substitute! (A bit less than 25%)
Salac berry kicked in. God I hate that item.

I forgot Blitzkrieg was faster, and now he’s got a substitute up. :/ On the other hand, it’s better facing a speedy Charizard with substitute than a speedy Charizard with max attack...

LIZARD used Dragon claw! (~60%)
Blitzkrieg used Draco Meteor!
Special attack dropped.
The substitute faded!

Looks like Blitzkrieg’s done his job – Charizard’s a TINY BIT too weak to make another substitute, and belly drum's right out of the question.

LIZARD used Dragon Claw! (40%)
Blitzkrieg fainted!
3-2

Mepop sent out Lancelot! (Kingler)

Ah! The brave knight returns!

LIZARD used Dragon Claw! (~25%)
Lancelot used Rock Slide! (25%)
LIZARD fainted!
2-2

Knight slays dragon.

Johny sent out KISAME! (Sharpedo... I hate this name)

Hmmm.

KISAME used Night Slash! (~50%!!)
Lancelot used Rock Slide! (50%)
KISAME fainted!
1-2

50% on Kingler with a neutral move… Sharpedo’s stronger than I thought. Good thing it wasn’t a critical, but now I’ve only got a Kingler – stuck on rock slide- at 25% and a gimmicky Dunsparce against the sleeping giant, bronzong…

Johny sent out IRONMAN?!! (Bronzong)

Johny fled?!

Plot twist!

When I asked Evan later why he surrendered, he answered “I knew you had a heatran as your last poke, so I couldn’t have won.” ._.

Props
Evan for a good battle
CactyMac for taking out two pokes
Blitzkrieg for neutralizing two pokes who would potentially have swept my team
Heatran for winning the battle for me, although he was sitting in the PC all the time. -_-

Slops
Stripes for not getting any action
My sister’s boyfriend

Hahaha I laughed at the nicks, very funny ones.

Props for using non-standard Pokémon, Cacturne was a bitch (nice predictions, too). Primeape was Uber-ish D:

Anyways, great read.

I've read a good share of the "good" warstories, and I came in expecting to hate this one (due to the negative tone of the topic).

I was suprised at how this story was so well told, though I'd say the story-telling was the reason (the end was kinda anticlimactic).

An amusing read, well done sir. I also loved the variety of pokes as well as their names too :D

I lol'd at the end.

That was a good read as well. I didn't know who was gonna win. And who knows who would've won if your brother didn't surrender.

I don't know... this battle wasn't that exciting for me. Perhaps it was because I had to go up/down the list to see who everyone was. Aside from Yanmega, none of the nicknames stuck to my head well.

I havent read yet, i'll attempt to in a little bit, but i'd advise you replace all of your nicknames with the pokemon names, as you stated them in the first post.

EDIT: Also, it seems the scores switch in the middle of the game, at first, 5-6 denotes you killed his guy, then later, 2-1 denotes you're still in lead.

QFT. The story was pretty decent, but unlike your brother I'm not a genius so I couldn't just memorize all your pokemon's nicknames from looking at the list once, so I had to keep scrolling back and forth each time a new one came out. If you just used the pokemon's names instead of the nicknames, or even if the first time the pokemon came out you put what species it was in paranthesis next to the nickname it would be much better.

Working on it - I'll mention the poke the first time it's introduced.
EDIT - Done. Sorry for the confusion and whatnot, if you guys still think it's a bit muddlesome I'll go back and change it more.

This warstory gets an automatic pass because of:

Slops: My sister's boyfriend.

I didn't find the nicknames too hard to follow. I thought it was pretty easy to tell what was going on from what attacks they were using. Then again, I'm an 18 year old genius named Evan. ;D

FATRATCAT used substitute!
CactyMac used seed bomb!

Subsitute faded – salac berry boosted FATRATCAT’S speed!

This is… very disconcerting, not least because of the weird ring this part of the battle has if you read it aloud. Expecting reversal, I chuckle and go for a sucker punch.

CactyMac used sucker punch!
?! It failed!
FATRATCAT used substitute! (1 HP LEFT)
You sure of that? Pinch Berries only activate at exactly 25% rounded down, and under... They ONLY activate, specifically, when substitute will not work again. They will NEVER activate and then be able to substitute without healing your HP first.

As a side note, I've always hated subbing down to salac to go for a reverse-sweep. I've always preferred Liechi, because to successfully sub down you need to be faster than the foe anyway. I've also always preferred Enduring a KO hit to Subbing down, because it's faster and has a bit more surprise value.

Looked like a good story from the first half, but it's too late for me to bother reading the second half of it. Will read tomorrow.

Haha this is was fun reading and I was able to keep up with the nicknames easily. Lol at having heatran as your last pokemon.

Aw... It WAS a typo, though I could swear I was being careful, it just happened. That's what I get for taking the battle's notes on paper. :/ Fixing.

I lol'd at the fact he thought your last poke was Heatran. If he'd known it was Sparcy he would have been furious!

Good story anyway. Primape was mad.
