Anti - Dragon Dancers

Although I've never faced a human DD user, I think the miltank in my team may give me some protection. It has high HP and defense to be a good psych upper. Switch in, psych up, milk drink then body slam away. And if you are lucky enough, you get to paralyze the DD'er.

Fish layed out one of the best ideas I have ever seen.

My opinion; Stop the train before it gets rolling. Most popular Dragon Dancers have 4x weak (Salamence, Gyarados, Tyranitar). I Turbocharged Starmie should be able to switch into that dragon dance, outspeed with Choice Scarf, and launch a SE attack.

If all else fails, let Skarmory should be able to take the hit and WW them out, but can only do so a certain number of times.

What's the percentage chance of Focus Band keeping you alive anyway? Or the percentage chance of Quick Claw activating?

I believe that the chance for Quick Claw to activate is about 1/3. Unfortunately, I have no idea about Focus Band. These items can help you if your back is really up against the wall, but obviously they aren't reliable tools against a Dragon Dancer.

Swampert can take care of all of them (Tyranitar, Garchomp, Gyarados and Salamence), but not very well. Needs Ice Beam and Stone Edge/HP Electric for that though.

Too bad Garchomp doesn't get Dragon Dance eh?

But swampert has always been the main counter for them all but Gyarados, and gyarados can be taken down by a nice little bolt

or a Swampert with Stone Edge. I think it's a 3HKO on Bulky Gyarados without intimidate, and an average 3HKO with intimidate. This is on Jumpman's super bulyk Gyarados. Max Attack Adamant Gyarados cannot 2HKO Swampert after a Dragon Dance. So yah, Swampert + Wish support is the best Dragon Dance counter.

Couldn't we find some extremely defensive pokemon that can take hits and just explode on the DD'er? Hopefully that should take care of it.

That kinda wastes your dude though.

I know I keep mentioning Vaporeon everywhere but I think he could help counter Dragon Dancers.

He has Acid Armour, can Wish if you wanna go that way, and he can Baton Pass.
Problem is you're stuck with Ice Beam for damaging them, but if you can pass on some Acid Armour's to someone who can smash the dancer, then you're in business.

Potentially Vaporeon could be the end of many dragon dancers just by passing on Acid Armour to something who can then take the dancers hit and smash it with Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/whatever.

Since DD needs time to set up, why not get someone with icebeam and iceshard to take out the mainly Dragon/Flying DDcers.

On the first turn they DD, try to hit them with a STAB Icebeam which shud already be able to 90%-100% with 4x effectiveness even with maxed out SpecialAttack/Hp EVs.

If it doesnt kill, just hit back with an IceShard to cancel out the effect of DDs speed boost.

Something like Glaceon can easily do the trick with good Special Attack and respectable Defence though it maybe abit slow, and theres where Ice Shard comes in.

you could always bring ot F.E.A.R. xD

But wouldn't just Ninjask(Speed)to veporeon(Defence)OR Umbreon(Sp.Def) to medicham work?

(unless my calculations have failed me)

Glaceon seems interesting. Ice beam OHKOs Salamence and Garchomp even with neutral nature and 0 EVs. Putting some EVs in SpA ensures that HP Electric 2HKOs 2HKOs Gyarados also. An OHKO, however, cannot be quaranteed against Special Defensively bulky ones.

It's typing and HP to take Stone Edges suck though >_> .

Good players don't DD earlygame so you can't really count on that ;(

I always hate it when Starmie comes in to ruin the fun. It could be fun to use Feraligatr as a DDer for a change and Crunch unsuspecting Starmies. It needs a lot of Speed EVs though to outspeed Timid Starmie after a DD. Too bad it's stuck with Torrent.

EV your Pokemon up to the Dragon Dancer's Max speed and Choice Scarf them, i.e. Adamant Garchomp with Attack/Speed will alway outspeed a +2 Tyranitar, abuse its Sand Veil, and will OHKO back with Earthquake. If it's a max HP Tyranitar, then I would U-Turn to Garchomp (since I will be using Staraptor as my U-Turner, inducing an Intimidate if we both lead). Alternatively, I can U-Turn to another Intimidater etc. for Salamence, I'd U-Turn to an Ice Sharder, like CB'd Mamoswine.
