Any Smogoners going to the Houston Obama Rally?

I'm going. When I get back I'll post pics and info about what went on. I think it's going to be awesome, as this is the most excited anyone's been about politics since the '60s.

I hear some 40,000 people are going, and since I know there a few Smogoners from Houston, I was seeing if anyone was planning on attending.

i went to the one at the key arena in seattle. its definitely amazing how much energy and emotion one person can rile up with a speech. it was cool.

Nope, but the one at reunion arena was packed. Definitely get there like an hour early so you get in, my friend made the mistake of sleeping in a little, and she couldn't get in due to the crowd.

Have fun though

I used to live an hour from Houston, and now I'm in San Diego so unfortunately I can't :/
I am praying Obama can win this election.

We already have Barack Obama v.1 up here governing Massachusetts. If I want empty overblown promises that are not within the realm of possibility to deliver (but there's a damn lot of hope, change, and "together we can" in the air!) I can just listen to Deval Patrick ramble on.

His (Deval Patrick) latest promises are to get 30,000 construction jobs out of 3 casinos that cost $1B each, when even the biggest s pro-union shill says that number is 33% too high (nonbiased estimates have it at 10-20% of Devals vaunted promise.)

He's also promised more jobs in biotech than the entire economy of Massachusetts produced in years previous.

Considering Obama rips pretty much all his speeches from Deval's 2006 campaign for governor and shifts a few words around, you're in for the same kind of overblown pap and nonsense if Obama is elected.

Sometimes I'm glad my generation doesn't vote in large numbers. Obama is selling the same snake oil that's been sold for 40 years. Now in the black bottle.

Not that I'm a huge fan of McCain, mind you, but that "It's 3 AM in the White House" ad initially put out by Hillary than parodied by Barack is the strongest argument for John McCain ever made. Hillary knows the military? (from her ad.) The last time she talked to anyone from the military she was declaring General Petraus was lying to her face.

That Hillary or Barack would be a solid choice to answer the red phone at 3 AM, to quote Hillary herself, "requires the willing suspension of disbelief."

I would but Obama has not yet fixed my router, as Deck Knight said >:(

Seeing as how he and Hillary just debated in Austin, there is not really any reason for me to drive to and from Houston, even though I would like to see him again! :(

OK, I went to the George R. Brown convention center last night, and it was amazing how many people showed up. I didn't get in, and that was a huge dissapointment, but I did stay outside the building and saw him drive up. I was on a waiting list for standing room only, and there were over 62,000 people inside the convention center. That's way more than it can seat. So I rallied from outside in these ridiculous gale-like winds for about an hour and met some cool people. The pictures I did take really aren't much to show, as I didn't get to go inside.
