Anyone else notice the Battle Tower AI boost?

No Guard Machamp works well in the battle tower to fend of "some" of the Double Teamers that randomly show up, just don't use machamp against something you suspect has Guillotine, Fissure, Horn Drill, or Sheer Cold.

Something I have noticed in Battle Tower but I can't explain; No Guard Machamp is able to hit through Protect/Detect, but it seems only "sometimes" it can do this and sometimes it doesn't hit through Protect/Detect which is somewhat wierd.

On another Note, Life Orb Sharpedo has done wonders in the battle tower in the early stages Jolly w/ Max Attack and Speed (God knows it doesnt mind losing HP from Life Orb because if it can't take a hit anyway...) Moveset being Earthquake, Waterfall, Ice Fang, Crunch. Pretty much wiped out Battle Tycoon's Ryperior and Dragonite in one hit, and Milotic I believe was 2 Hits of Crunch (Definately 2 if you get the defense drop).

I don't like the non-sleep clause thing tho in the battle tower tho, thats the most annoying thing I think.

Agree... and that Milotic knows Hypnosis, which is a pain.

I've got pwned by a team that was made to take out mine.

First was a Tauros with Earthquake (who Blaziken killed with Reversal), then a Togekiss with Extreme Speed (killed by Choice Banded Salamence's Dragon Claw), and then a Frosslass who killed both my Salamence and my Latias (don't know how, my Latias has 135 defense and got 2HKOed. Choice Band?).

I've got really mad, it was the 7th opponent already.

Has anyone done the multiplayer tower with a computer-controlled partner? Your partner is fucking brilliant. They will activate flash fire/electric engine or heal your absorb poke for you by attacking it, skill swap when its necessary, and they always use SE attacks when possible. I had a 2v2 battle against a team that skill swapped slaking's truant onto me, but then my partner's gengar skill swapped it from me and right back onto slaking, lol.

The only thing I don't like about the battle tower is that it still cheats. Your opponent still has ridiculous accuracy. Friggin horn drill never seems to miss, and i've literally never seen hypnosis miss once. It also seems like they have illegal amounts of PP (i have to stall out those damn DT/toxic/leech seed/sub @ leftovers ludicolo), but i haven't officially confirmed that.

In R/S/E BT the AI always had standard PP w/o the use of any PPUps, so stalling was an effective technique. I haven't gotten enough data from d/p to see if that has changed.

That's just bad luck on your part. Going against Palmer's Milotic with my own, I have to say that his Hypnosis missed some 5 times in a row while I was trying to mirror coat his Dragon Pulses.

I hate how they use OHKOs and DT, and always seem to hit with said OHKOs. They're a bad idea for when if you lose once, you start all over again. Perhaps they should have had it so that if you lose, you go one group of 7 back. But from the start again is a pain in the ass, especially since you don't earn anything worthwhile until the 21st battle, and considering the prices of some of the items...

Also, DT shouldn't even exist....

.....all I can say is that in the 2 on 2 with the people that you partner up with during the game is easy, but I got pissed off on the 7th match in the 2nd round.....

My Electabuzz/Empoleon/Staraptor lost to...

Dusclops@Leftovers
Toxic
Double Team
Confuse Ray
?

Rotumu
Discharge
Eerie Wind
?
?

Lunatone
Cosmic Power
Ice beam
?
?

basically, Electabuzz was HAXed with Protect/Toxic, and Empoleon was messed up by Confuse Ray/Protect, but Rotumu Haxed empoleon with Discharge Paralyzing, then it KOed it, then I lost to Lunatone- as Staraptor needed a 3HKO for Close Combat, and on the second one- it KOed with SE Ice beam....

but the funny thing is that My electabuzz's Ice Punch froze like 7 or 8 different things, and it even froze 3 pokes in a row at one point....

so I think that the Hax is put both ways, as I only missed once from the 2 Double teamers I faced combined....

My Starptor, Shiny Metagross, and Infernape just go single handidly owned by a starmie. I would have won but I had to switch to gross -_-

Anyway, the first challenges are somewhat easy. Also, always lead with infernape timid or jolly. All sub-punchers sucumb to it, mainly kanghaskan.

I'm up to 49 I guess now, having beaten the Tycoon again, and the hardest things I've had to face that I'm not used to were CM Slowbro and CM Cresselia. After using SpecsMence, Taunt/DD/WF/EQ Gyarados@Lefties, and Chesto Curselax with EQ, and hating the absolute lack of synergy of that "team" in spite of SpecsMence and Taunt/DD Gyarados being in my top-5 favorite pokemon in DP, went back to my old standard three Cs, CB Mence/CM Cune/Curselax. I have not yet seen a reason to deviate from this team, which I am convinced, having partaken in literally thousands of battles in Emerald, to be second to none. The Tycoon's Cresselia maybe be a reason to go with Tyranitar, given Tyra also gets that nice SpD boost, but Suicune's Pressure is very nice, especially against the ever-present OHKOs that you otherwise can't do much about besides Subbing.

Also, for those of you who don't know I will toot his horn for him: Larvi had/has a 504-battle win strean in RS's BT, so pretty much listen to anything he has to say about Battle Tower play.

That cming cresselia with moonlight sweeped my team easily. The moveset strats I feel have been improved, but in from overall battling strats have only minorly improved. They do switch a bit more, but they tend to sitll do nothing but attack or use random moves.

I got to the 56... so zarking tough. Died on the 56 so I didn't get that round done.

The team I used was a Weavile (my lead for the first 42), Azelf (would nasty plot and sweep with nescsesary move), and then a Milotic. My milotic lead from 42 on, pretty sure. DANG it was useful, it's incredibly well trained IV+EV with Hypnosis so I'd always put the opponet to sleep and swicth to Azelf to Nasty Plot+pwn. Ha. I don't have any cool stories, I didn't have any (too) tough spots. But the Pokemon that obliterated me was a LANTURN. wtz? Yeah. Sadly Milotic was leading and he kept on using Charge Beam and raising SP att, recover didn't help too much. Put it to sleep and switched out to Azelf, it woke right away (=/) Thunder wave, I think and it was all downhill from there.

Gay. Got to 34 wins then lost to a Staraptor when I was about to get BP. Here's what happened:

Start:
I bring in Gengar, he brings in Altaria.

Turn 1:
I switch in Gastrodon.
Altaria uses Dragon Dance.

Turn 2:
Altaria uses Dragon Claw and does a little over half to Gastrodon.
Gastrodon uses Ice Beam and leaves Altaria with ONE HIT POINT LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gastrodon's Leftovers restored its HP a little.

Turn 3:
Altaria uses Dragon Claw, which Gastrodon survives with three HP remaining.
Gastrodon uses Ice Beam and kills Altaria.
Gastrodon's Leftovers restored its HP a little.
The foe brings in Staraptor and Intimidates Gastrodon.

Turn 4:
Staraptor finishes Gastrodon with Return.
I bring in Gengar.

Turn 5:
I thought I would be faster, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Staraptor uses Brave Bird and OHKO's Gengar from 100% without a critical hit.
I bring in Infernape.

Turn 6:
See above.

If you don't think that sucked, then f*** you. Maybe I should transfer my Latios from Emerald...

i fought a trickbanding furret ._. good thing my mime was using psychic instead of of of my non attacking moves.
That trickbanding Furret took my Breloom's Toxic Orb and stuck me on Spore... Then it gave it to my Swampert for me, and took his leftovers... And it wasn't even poisoned, because I slept it first, and then as it woke up it passed it off.

Also, just wait til you have that fun... Double Team / Toxic / Protect Dusclops with Leftovers... I don't even know what it's fourth move was... but it swept me... with Toxic, because I couldn't hit it. (Though Poison Heal Breloom would have laughed at him, if not for Focus Sash'd something to lead, with Aerial Ace...)

Skarmory is great for those double teamers/OHKOers since it's immune to toxic and OHKOs. And it can learn aerial ace to spit on DTers, especially that damn ludicolo.

Im up to the 14th straight battle in the Battle Tower, seeing as I usually get bored with the battle tower, but so far, they have been at least thinking over their moves.

They switched 3 times on me and actually ko'd one of my pokes :o it usually takes like the 50-something person to take out a poke in the battle tower so I think they are getting better (except for Comic Power/Sandstorm/Confusion/Rock Throw Solrocks and Lunatones)

I'm up to 35 wins now. I recently met Trick Room Alakazam and Power Trick Shuckle on the same team O_o Good for me that Shuckle was stupid and used Stone Edge first and then Power Trick when the Trick Room had ended.

As has been said, the Battle Tower Pokemon have been given "intelligent" movesets, but exhibit no particular intelligence in using them. Where it would appear the AI is using a particular strategy, for the most part is most likely coincidence.

That said, I very nearly lost against a subflailing Kingler @ liechi berry. My Milotic survived with what can't have been more than a few HP. Its times like that the make every minute of EV training worthwhile.

The AI also adapts really quickly. My lead for the last 14 matches has been Staraptor with Brave Bird, it basically OHKO's everything. All of the sudden there are Focus Sash+Flail Krabby's everywhere. And when I realized this and used Quick Attack first, they magically used Crab Hammer instead of Flail. Also, Milotic+Toxicroak is fun for 2v2 partners.
