[SET]
name: All-Out Attacker
move 1: Close Combat
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Stone Edge / Poison Jab
move 4: Earthquake
item: Black Belt
ability: Mold Breaker / Inner Focus
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
With its all-out attacker set, Sawk can bluff a Choice item and surprise its foe with a powerful Black Belt-boosted Close Combat or a super effective coverage move. Knock Off targets Ghost- and Psychic-types like Rotom, Froslass, and Exeggutor, while also crippling checks like Altaria and Tangela. Stone Edge handles Flying-types like Altaria, Rotom-S, and Articuno, whereas Poison Jab deals significant damage to Fairy-types like Alcremie, Clefairy, and Galarian Rapidash. Earthquake lets Sawk break Poison-types like Qwilfish and Silvally-Poison. Black Belt 2HKOes Tangela lacking Eviolite with Close Combat after Stealth Rock. Mold Breaker lets Sawk use Earthquake on Levitate users like Rotom and Uxie, while Inner Focus makes it immune to Qwilfish's Intimidate and prevents Kangaskhan from chipping it down with Fake Out.
All-out attacking Sawk can cripple and weaken physical walls like Tangela, Poliwrath, and Altaria to open a way for physical sweepers like Swords Dance Lycanroc-N, Shift Gear Klinklang, and Thwackey. Pivots like Rotom, Clefairy, and Alolan Persian can bring Sawk safely on to the field. Entry hazard setters like Froslass, Piloswine, and Rhydon can force out Sawk's checks like Altaria, Alcremie, and Silvally-Poison and help Sawk wallbreak, while Sawk can remove Heavy-Duty Boots from its checks with Knock Off to make entry hazards more effective against them.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
An Adamant nature can be run on its non-Choice Scarf sets to have a better chance to 2HKO Tangela lacking its Eviolite, however a Jolly nature is usually preferred to outspeed the likes of Timid Skuntank and Modest Thievul.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Ghost-types**: Spiritomb, Gourgeist-XL, and Sableye can switch into any of Sawk's attacks with ease. Spiritomb can also set up on Sawk with Calm Mind.
**Physical Walls**: Tangela, Uxie, and Altaria can switch into Sawk and either cripple it with status or deal significant damage. However, Tangela and Altaria must be careful of switching into Knock Off and Stone Edge, respectively, as Choice Band and Black Belt Sawk can 2HKO Tangela lacking Eviolite and can KO Altaria with some prior chip damage. While Qwilfish must be wary of switching into Earthquake, it can easily switch into Close Combat and wear Sawk down with its Rocky Helmet.
**Faster Threats**: Rotom, Jynx, and Froslass can revenge kill Sawk once it's slightly worn down; however, none of them can directly switch into Sawk's attacks.
