Welcome to Battling 101! If you're seeking a tutor for SV Little Cup, you are in the right place. Please read all the rules carefully and fill out every part of the application.

RULES​

• You must be able to access Discord, or whatever your tutor wants as the primary form of communication.
• You must be willing to use Pokemon Showdown! even if you are being tutored in a cartridge format such as Battle Spot or VGC.
• You, the tutee, should have at least 15 posts before signing up AND your account's age should be a minimum of at least 1 month old before signing up.
  • This is not a strict requirement meaning you may still be paired without satisfying it, so no matter what, DO NOT spam post elsewhere in the forum. That is an infractable offense and we do not encourage such behavior from potential Tutees.
• You must have battled competitively for a decent amount in at least ONE of the Smogon tiers or Battle Spot / VGC to sign up. Playing 10 or so matches on the PS! ladder is not substantial enough, ~70 or so is more reasonable. This experience does not need to be for the format you sign-up for; this is just to weed out people who have never played competitively that can improve themselves simply by using resources already available to them without needing a tutor to hold their hand.
• You, the tutee, are responsible for setting up times with your tutor. When you receive the Smogon notification informing you of the pairing, please take the initiative and post on their VM wall first. Continued scheduling and communication is key to a successful pairing!
• Use the Tutee Talk forum to complain about your tutor (or praise them if they're doing a good job). These are no longer mandatory, but if your tutor is ridiculously inactive or is a complete jackass, COMPLAIN HERE. Nobody can see your tutee talk posts except for you and the Battling 101 Staff; everything is confidential.
• Signups older than 4 months or 1 month since last login will be considered inactive. These will be moved to the Inactive Posts thread, and can be returned back to this thread by request.
• Tutors can and will drop you if sessions go badly, and significant violations may result in a ban from B101. Be active, be enthusiastic, be respectful. Make the best of your time together!

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I started playing competitively in early XY and spammed Baton Pass on the ladder. I was pretty skilled I guess. I then got more involved with Smogon and started to play in various tournaments like UUPL and later on Snake and SPL. I could use a bit more practice in this tier though, so I'm looking to get help

Competitive Pokemon experience: I've been frequent in the RBY, LC, and ZU communities. I've previously been drafted into b2b LCPL during mid-season pickups as well as participating in numerous team tours inside and outside of LC. However, I have lately felt my gameplay has been subpar at best and I've struggled to play at a top level as of late. My goal is to learn how to understand a different perspective in terms of lines and learning the intricate details of Little Cup so I can push myself to become a greater player.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I started on ladder in ~2023 and started playing tours with last year open. Individual results I have are top 6 of last fall ssnl and semis of ladder tour this year. I tunnel vision a lot so I want to identify winning lines better. Also I'm not really good with tera (most times I use is reactionary/defensive) so I want to be more proactive with it and also identify when/why my opponents will tera as well. I also want to play more aggressively with like doubles and stuff and identify when/why I should.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I’m mostly a doubles player, both VGC and Smogon Doubles. I played in DWCoP, NDFL, UMFL, and two additions of HGPL + currently playing in ALTPL as one of my teams’ two Orre players. I also managed to qualify for circuits in DUU and Doubles LC, the latter of which I got one of the top seeds thanks to my win in thr Last Chance tour. I’ve always loved LC and want to give singles a better chance (have only played ADV ZU relatively seriously), and I think starting with a tier I find fun would be best! Want to learn both how to build and generally how to play better.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): i started to play on 2021 but i've never reached anything serious and i abandoned it until 2025 that i've started to play again motivated partly for videos of Freezai and Jimothy Cool, but Little Cup is a big part of why i started to play again: i find really cool the idea and playing the tier is always fun for me. Now i'm in a team tournament where i'm playing in the LC tier and i wanted to get better for helping my team that is losing 1-4

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I feel like I have had a decent grasp on the meta over the last year or so. I can build and click my way near the top of the ladder peaking in the top 10 several times. I struggle under time pressure and in important matches where I feel like I second guess my decisions. I think I have improved a lot since originally picking up LC casually. I don't have impressive tour results and that's something I'd like to work on. I think I tunnel vision and can struggle playing endgames with teams that I haven't built or tweaked in some way.

I've been taking comp seriously and trying to get better since January, I think I've came pretty far. I am starting to enjoy LC alot now and its becoming one of my favorite tiers. Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I’ve been playing LC since mid-2025, mainly focusing on SV LC. I’ve peaked around 1400 on a few different alts, but I still have a hard time finding the best lines in some games, knowing when to switch, and figuring out when I should make a prediction. Tera is also something I struggle with quite a bit, since I’ll either use it too early and end up losing because of it, or hold onto it for too long and lose because I didn’t use it when I needed to. I’d like to get better at recognizing these situations, making better reads, and understanding when my opponent is likely to Tera. I haven’t really played tours yet, but I’m planning to get into them soon.
