ORAS UU Aquarium Park

Herro, This is my 5th RMT so of course I have a new cash team that everyone is going to disagree with and change entirely :3. I honestly don't know what playstyle this is but I'll go ahead and say balance, so let's jump in.

The Team:

swampert-mega.gif

John Cena (Swampert-Mega) @ Swampertite
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Rain Dance

I wanted to build a team around Mega Swampert because rain teams kept pwning me and I wanted to pwn too. I just went with the standard set, Adamant, 252 Atk, 252 Spe, Waterfall, EQ, Ice Punch, Rain Dance. Waterfall EQ and Ice Punch all have amazing coverage together letting swampert hit a ton of things and get late game sweeps very easily. Rain dance is essential to perform these sweeps as it boosts Waterfall's power by 1.5x and also doubles Swampert's speed.

tangrowth.gif

*hits blunt* (Tangrowth) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Sleep Powder
- Leech Seed
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off

I wanted something that can take grass hits obviously, and I also wanted to make a good Tangrowth team, and since Tangrowth and Pert work pretty nicely together I went with growth. Tangrowth is a very bulky mon and to add to that gets regenerator to constantly heal itself when switching out. Sleep Powder is nice because it lets me put anything to sleep and neutralize it excluding grass types / Mandibuzz. Leech seed is good for draining hp off any mons that arent grass / Mandibuzz. Giga Drain is standard stab and drains some hp too which works paired with seed. Knock Off is self-explanatory. Just a spammable move that gets rid of items.

empoleon.gif

Klúb Penguin (Empoleon) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam
- Roar

I wanted an Ice/Flying and Bug resist and also a mon who can setup rocks. Empoleon does all of this while also having scald so I can burn some asses. Scald, as I just said, lets me burn some asses, and its a pretty nice stab move. Stealth Rock is essential for anyteam allowing me to damage foes that switch in. Ice Beam lets me hit things like Crobat and Mence for good damage which otherwise can be an issue to this team. Roar is needed to stop Suicune and Slowking from 6-0'ing me.

salamence.gif

Mence Meat (Salamence) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Roost
- Defog

Next I wanted a defogger and something to stop fighting spam and ground spam effectively. (Example Nidoqueen, while Tangrowth can't handle it, Mence can switch in potentially and get some heavy damage off.) Draco Meteor is Salamence's strongest stab move and deals heavy damage to alot of mons. Fire Blast hits anything Draco Meteor doesn't, mainly Steels. Roost lets me heal off some damage if I need to switch in more times to things like Heracross. Defog allows me to remove hazards so that hazardstack doesnt kill me.

toxicroak.gif

Gawn (Toxicroak) @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Drain Punch
- Gunk Shot
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance

I already have 3 Water resists, but honestly, no one likes scald. But yeah besides that I wanted a setup sweeper/wincon and I noticed Toxicroak actually shits on alot of the meta right now, and it also works with my Swampert. Drain Punch and Gunk Shot are standard stabs that deal massive damage. Sucker Punch is Toxicroak's priority letting it hit things like Scarf Chandy, Azelf and weakened mons. Swords Dance is essential for a setup sweeper letting me get to +2 and kill something.

chandelure.gif

JUST DO IT (Chandelure) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Fire Blast
- Energy Ball
- Trick

For the last mon I decided I might aswell complete the Fire-Water-Grass. Chandelure lets me spinblock and deal heavy damage. Shadow Ball is a nice spammable stab move that hits alot of mons for heavy damage. Fire Blast is Chandy's main stab that hurts alot of things for big damage especially when boosted by Flash Fire. Energy Ball lets it hit Rock/Water types for great damage (especially Alomomola, screw that thing). Trick lets me break walls like P2 and Blissey.

And that's pretty much it. It's still in the works so there arent any massive threats that instantly win that I've found so far. Although Chandelure and Mence can definitely be threats as described in Empoleon's description.

I honestly feel banded entie way more than I feel scarf chandy on this team, it drags in and breaks down swampert and toxicroaks checks and counters so well with sfire and gives mence + tangy a crapton of free turns on waters.

With the teams overall structure I cant help but feel like a modest LO tangrowth with sleep powder/leaf storm/knock off/hp fire would be a lot more useful to the team overall.

Past that this is a pretty decent team. Best of luck

Hey Terrashock, nice team you have here! Little crunched for time, but I'd like to give this a quick rate. Biggest threats that stand out to me currently are dragons, especially Hydreigon. Hydreigon puts a ton of pressure on Empoleon, as it is the only thing on your team that can feasibly switch into a Draco Meteor. If Empoleon is weakened or KO'd, Hydreigon comes in and gets a kill on most of your team, especially if it is scarfed. I think the best thing you can do is increase the number of checks and revenge killers you have for Hydreigon, rather than completely change around your team's defensive core to accommodate for it. First suggestion I'd make is changing Mega Swampert's nature from Adamant to Jolly. While the extra damage that Adamant provides is tempting, the speed you gain with Jolly is quite crucial in my opinion. Jolly allows you to outspeed Base 97 - Base 109 Speed Scarfers (notably Hydreigon, Salamence, and Mienshao) and KO them, whereas Adamant does not. In addition to that, I think changing Tangrowth for LO Shaymin would be beneficial for your team. While removing Tangrowth does leave you a bit more prone to Feraligatr, I think the combination of Toxicroak and Intimidate Salamence keep it in check. A moveset of Seed Flare / Dazzling Gleam / Earth Power / Synthesis allows you to plow through the bulky waters that Swampert hates while revenge killing Hydreigon. Shaymin's superior special bulk also allows it to take on Mixed Salamence much better than Tangrowth, tanking even a LO Fire Blast. Other than that, though, you have a really solid team that is very aesthetically pleasing (loving the blue). I hope you try out my suggestions! Good luck with everything :]

Ok Terrashock time for my rate!

  • First off, I agree with Vapo in that you are really Dragon weak (Hydreigon, Salamence, and even Mega Ampharos to an extent). While I agree with changing Mega Pert to Jolly > Adamant, I do believe some other change must be in order.
  • I believe an easy way for you to combat Dragons is to go Calm Mind Florges > Chandelure. This gives you a solid win condition against bulkier teams while also providing the most solid answer to Dragon-types (bar Iron Tail Salamence lol). I also feel that you no longer need a revenge killer as you have Mega Swampert and priority on Toxicroak (plus the team is already pretty fast paced so Choice Scarf Chandelure wouldn't be missed).
Florges @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Synthesis
- Aromatherapy
- Moonblast
  • Next I suggest Offensive SR Empoleon > Specially Defensive Empoleon as this allows you to not be such a momentum sucker on a team that seems to crave momentum. While losing Roar sucks as you now lack a way of phazing setup mons, I feel Empoleon is better off firing powerful coverage and STAB moves to keep up the pressure. Plus the pressure this team applies, most setup mons are hard pressed to set up (Suicune fears Toxicroak, physical attackers fear Intimidate Salamence, Gatr "fears" Physically Defensive Tangrowth).
Empoleon @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 212 HP / 252 SpA / 44 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Stealth Rock

Hope this helps and good luck with the team! :)
