You can EV train a pokemon without leveling it up. EV train it like normal (take precautions to gain as little experience as possible) and then shove it in the PC. Exit the PC, enter again and withdraw. The EVs will take place.

Oh, thank you very much for that info then. I really appreciate it.

I think I've decided on my team. I'm thinking Hippowdon and Cacturne, with Garchomp and Heatran on reserve. Heatran covers the weakness to Ice and can be Hippowdons switch in. Garchomp is my ace in the hole, for whatever else. Now to work on movesets. How does this stategy sound?

I'm describing the ideal pokemon...

-Weak or obviously vulnerable to water (or Ice/steel/ground) attacks
-Access to Fire/Electric moves... or Ice
-Speedy enough to beat +1 Gyra?

Anything you can think of like that? I hate picking the last member of your team and realizing you still have a lot you need to cover... >.> I'm willing to test things from OU to UU..

Aerodactyl is weak to water, ice and ground attacks, has access to Fire Fang, Ice Fang and Thunder Fang and can outrun a +1 Gyarados.

Ok since I missed out alot especially the UU changes I have a few noobish questions:
1) Was the NU tier made by taking into account usage or how good the pokemon is?
2) Can NU be used in UU?

Yes these questions must sound really stupid but anyways it would be great if someone would clarify for me :)

1) Basically, the UU list is calculated the same way as the OU list (except for UU instead of standard) and anything not on it (except BL/OU/Uber pokes obviously) is in NU.

2) NUs can be used in UU. (Or standard, or even Ubers if you really wanted to.)

I've just 1 Pokemon in party.
I go to my pokemon. press select and start, and now i check the summary.
After that i check my first 6 TM's.
but they didn't changed :/
Is it possible that the cheat just works on US Pokemon D/P ?

pls help

@TheLax: I believe that code only works on US verisons, some time ago I tried it on my italian cartridge and it didn't work as well.

ah . thanks =)
do you have one which works on the german versions ?

No, sorry. Indeed I'm still looking for a working code on italian cartridges... and I'm planning on buying the US version of Platinum just to prevent that kind of "incompatibilities".

On the Starmie analysis page it says with 136 HP / 156 Def EVs Starmie can survive a DD Gyara EQ. How would I need to change this for my Starmie that has a 23 IV in HP (Def is 31)?

Well so it basically means your Starmie will have 7 less HP, so I guess the simplest solution would be to invest 28(?) more EV's in HP, which should bring your HP upto what it would with the other build. I dont think its too much really, aren't the rest dumped into Sp Atk?
But yeah, I think that should solve it :)

You should give it 168 hp EVs removing those (32) EVs from speed, but then you will not be able to outspeed positive natured base 110, and I don't know if it's a good deal.

Is Charge Beam viable on Trick Room Porygon2 over Thunderbolt, i.e. Charge Beam/Ice Beam/Recover/Trick Room? It can 2HKO Gyarados, while recovering the damage from Waterfall (which can only 3HKO if Gyarados gets lucky, taking Leftovers into account).
I would switch into Gyarados and take another attack (or let it switch out), recovering off the damage. Then if it stayed in, I'd Charge Beam once, Trick Room, recover off damage again, and finish Gyarados with another Charge Beam.
Plus, it has the benefit of a 70% chance to increase Sp. Atk (63% taking into account 90% accuracy). I often find that Porygon2's Sp. Atk isn't quite high enough to deal with more defensive Pokémon, so Charge Beam seems quite useful.

Is there anything threatening that Thunderbolt would KO that Charge Beam can't?

Looking at the base 110s in OU I'm not keen to stay in on them anyway so I'll just make sure I outspeed 108 (Infernape) and hopefully that'll work. Thanks :)

Anyone can tell me a good lead pokemon that sets up SR and can take a few special hits? Preferably non-legendary :)

Might seem a bit of an odd request but...

Brozong or Metagross should work for that. Heatran is another option, if you're willing to be flexible on using legendary-Pokemon.

Empoleon can resist many special attacks (except Thunderbolt, Earth Power, and the odd Focus Blast of course) due to its typing.

This isn't a competitive question, but it wouldn't fit anywhere else on this site.

Why can Heatran be either male or female if you can't breed it? Latios and Latias are siblings, so it makes sense to have a gender. I guess Cresselia is supposed to be female, so therefore the one gender is understandable. Why Heatran, though? Is GameFreak taunting us?

If you were going to use Torterra in OU for some reason, what supports would you use? Obviously, something that doesn't mind eating an Ice Beam... like Vaporeon or other bulky water... but what else?
