I still need help with my Shoddy battle problem.

I suggest you wait for Colin or bearzly to pm you back.

You really aren't going to get much help from here as people in this thread aren't very familiar with this kind of stuff, only very few.

@pokemon yay: If you're using Bold Celebi, give your Celebi 4 Attack IVs, you can get an HP Fire with a base power of 68, I can't find a better one.

How long do you think that'll take?

What makes a pokemon a great wall breaker? I have seen dragonite mentioned as a great wall breaker but I am confused because he seems inferior to Salamence.

How did Stealth Rocks become so prominent in the metagame?
rocks are useful because they only take one turn to set up and can deal upwards of 200% damage in a common match. they hit the majority of the metagame for either 12% or 25% and help break focus sashes so you aren't killed by something you thought you would ohko. rocks are also really important in dealing with threats like salamence and gyarados; after stealth rock damage and one round of life orb damage salamence can be ohkoed by scizor's bullet punch. a lot of dangerous sweepers are less threatening if their hp is cut down before they even attack.

dunno what the "accepted" definition of wall breaker is but they usually have good type coverage and can deal lots of damage to common walls even with neutral hits. dragonite and salamence (at least the wallbreaking versions) are mixed attackers which means they can attack with physical moves and special moves.

for salamence it's usually some combination of draco meteor (to nuke things hard) and fire blast (to hit steels who resist draco meteor) on the special side and outrage (another stab), earthquake (to hit steels again), and brick break (useful for hitting tyranitar and blissey without resorting to outrage). dragonite uses draco meteor and flamethrower on the special side and superpower on the physical side. sometimes dragonite also can use thunderbolt to hit bulky waters without the special attack drop that draco meteor carries.

dragonite is usually seen as the better stall breaker because it can ohko blissey with superpower whereas salamence must predict with brick break or lock itself into outrage. dragonite also has slightly better defenses and has a better movepool (thunderbolt for things like vaporeon). the loss of speed isn't noticeable against stall teams because they're slow anyways. however salamence is usually more useful against offensive teams because of his nice base 100 speed and intimidate.

Well both use Ice-type moves, and the same argument could be used against Mamoswine's Earthquake.

They both unction as ICe-types, since both are Ice-type and use Ice-type moves.

Technician Questions

OK, this question has been bugging me for a while, can other things change whether or not Technician activates? My first question is which activates first STAB or Ability?

Example 1: Ambipom using Swift: If STAB first: STAB activates, 60 x 1.5 = 90, since 90>60, Technician doesn't activate.

Example 2: Ambipom using Swift: If Technician first: Since 60=60, Technician activates, 60 x 1.5 = 90, STAB activates, 90 x 1.5 = 135.

The next question is, what about attacks with secondary effects that raise there power?

Example 3: Ambipom using Payback after taking damage: If Payback first: Payback's effect activates, 50 x 2 = 100, since 100>60, Technician doesn't activate.

Example 4: Ambipom using Payback after taking damage: If Technician first: Since 50<60, Technician activates, 50 x 1.5 = 75, Payback's effect activates, 75 x 2 = 150

Can anyone help me out here?

My first question is about Obi's stall team. I think it is excellent, and I wanted to make an arrangement on his team. If i was to use his team (Hippowdon, Skamory, Tentacruel, Celebi, Spiritomb, Blissey), and make my own version, (Hippowdon, Skarmory, Tentacruel, Celebi, -------, -------), what would be a good replacement pokemon. I was thinking of putting a Gardevoir in for Blissey.

Gardevoir @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EV: What is a good EV spread I could have?
Calm Nature (+SpD, -Atk)
-Wish
-Protect
-Toxic/Will-o-Wisp <------- Which one should I choose?
-Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Psychic <----- Which one should I choose?

And what ghost pokemon to block rapid spin(not Spiritomb), would compliment my team. I was thinking Rotom-H, but this is a very tough decision, and I need a proffessionals help :-). If you have an idea, can you tell me the moveset, nature, and ev spread of that pokemon?

Anybody? The first time I actually noticed Swinub is secondary Ground-type is when I saw Rock Throw isn't SE on it in Gold...

This is just a dumb question. They both use Ice STAB moves. What do you mean by "functions as a generic ice type"? Mamoswine isn't weak to Rock or Fighting though.

Mamoswine is Fighting weak...
Em, any ideas for effective Ev spreads for Walrein? Could 252SpA Modest work?
(Encore/Blizzard/Icy Wind/Surf to mess-uo sweepers while still holding 95 base SpA)

Regarding the attack Last Resort:

If I have 4 attacks, two of them being Sleep Talk and Last Resort, will Last Resort fail if I haven't used all of my attacks if chosen by Sleep Talk?
If instead of Sleep Talk I have the move Assist, will Last Resort fail if I haven't used all of my attacks if chosen by Assist?

What's Celebi's best HP Fire spread? Shoddy isn't helping.

I'm assuming you mean IVs and that depends on your nature. If you mean an Ev spread...then it depends on what you plan to use that celebi for.

Bold/Timid - 31/4/31/30/30/31 is a 68 bp HP: fire

I would say blissey is pretty irreplacable on that team. Adding in gardevoir will harm you in the long run as it is pursuit weak in addition to how special ghost and dark (and to an extent bug) are very potent against your team.

Rotom is a possible replacement over Spiritomb but you should remember that spiritomb was used mainly to deal with exploding azlef as if azlef explodes on blissey you are now open to a lot of special threats. Rotom is 2hkoed by azlef.

220HP/252Def/38SpA, Bold?
C'mon, you know Walrein is like my all-time fav :<...

Depends on what you need walrein for. There is no generic "best".
