So should I still use Fire Blast on Azelf leads? Again, with Taunt Metagross and Bronzong may not be able to set up, but then I'll be forced to Explode for little damage, while Fire Blast can 2HKO...

Also, is there any point at using Psychic on Starmie over Trick?

Also 2#, is Water generally a good type?

I can't believe I just read a post about the Psychic type and various advantages and disadvantages it has in today's metagame, but I can't find it, sorry.

Yes, Water is good.

Is there any point at using Psychic on Starmie even when my lead Azelf has it?
I'm trying to make an offensive OU team based around Gyarados, what Pokemon (aside of Weavile I will hold) can aid a sweep?
(Yah, I'm a Water-type fanatic, any problems?)

If you're interested, an all Water team isn't terrible, but only for leisure purposes really. Think about things that can wall or take out your Gyarados, even when it's boosted, and think about what can take those out. For instance, if you were really afraid of your Gyarados getting walled by a Skarmory for whatever reason, I would suggest using a Magnezone or Heatran to counter it

The reasoning "X already has move Y so I shouldn't include it in Z's movepool" is a rather common mistake with beginners. I think a better way to go about things is to ask yourself why you should pack that particular move and see if you need that overlapping coverage/security against a particular threat or if that move serves other purposes on Pokemon X as compared to Pokemon Y. If you answer negatively to both questions you probably could do better with another move on that slot.

I don't know your team well enough so I obviously cannot give a definitive answer to whether or not you should let Starmie carry Psychic.

One last thing, when team building I find it extremely useful to think of good/beneficial partners to the Pokemon I want to build a team around. In your case, I usually find Infernape/Metagross to be good partners and can pave the way for a clean Gyara sweep (or clean up whatever is left).

Good luck ^^.

What attack is capable of inflicting more damage in a perfect opportunity, Megahorn or Superpower, both without STAB? My guess is Superpower on Sneasel? I think that's more powerful than Megahorn on Exeggcute

What is the highest Effective Base Power possible when using Beat Up?

superpower will surely lose power and become weaker after the first use but megahorn will miss 15% of the time (i would stick with superpower because you can switch and do more damage later but a miss WILL fuck you up), i dont think beat up got a max power since it depend on your team members...so it probaly can go to the 999! lol maybe not.

Do you think this sketch could work?
Azelf
Suicune/Milotic/Vaporeon
Metagross/Empoleon/Scizor
Starmie/Latias
Weavile
Gyarados

Could Starmie and Latias work together, despite the Pursuit weaknesses?

Is something wrong? I have a Ditto and a female Jolly Gabite holding Everstone, but so far, there have not been any Jolly offspring after hatching like ten eggs...

Are you trying to figure out how to do the most damage with a single attack? I posted the best way to do it here a while ago. To answer your question, Super Power on Sneasel would do more damage than Megahorn on Exeggcute because Sneasel has a lower Def and HP.

@Voltai: Were the two Pokemon from different countries? Everstone doesn't work properly with Pokemon from different countries.

For each egg, there is a 50% chance of it having a Jolly nature, which just means you are just very unlucky. You can always use the trick for checking the nature of the Pokémon in an egg before hatching it, if that might help

Not max damage overall, but max damage done by an Absol

When breeding with Ditto, Ditto should be the one holding the Everstone not its partner (regardless whether said partner is female or not). Good luck ^^.

Well, Serv and DDR beat me on that one.

Either way, I was wondering, can Normalize Thunder Wave hit Ground types, Normalize Toxic hit Poison and Steel types, Normalize Dream Eater hit Dark types, Normalize Dig hit Flying types (so on and so forth)? And if a Pokémon with Normalize uses Assist, is the selected move Normal type? For example, Delcatty with Normalize uses Assist, Assist randomly selects Outrage. Does Outrage in that example become Normal type?

I made this team to battle a friend, but I've been informed they're using Garchomp--I'm not 100% sure, but they're using either Yache Berry or Sub-Swords Dance with Leftovers--how can I better suit this team to counter it without changing any of its members?

Normalize Thunder Wave can hit Grounds and Volt Absorb/Motor Drive Pokemon but it can't hit Ghosts. Normalize Toxic can't Poison Poisons or Steels because they are completely immune to Poison (if Normalize were around in Gen 2, then Normalize Toxic could probably Poison Steels). For Dig and Dream Eater, they are now Normal so they can hit everything Normal can but they can't hit Ghosts. I believe Outrage would become a Normal attack in that example.

Cipher Admin Lovrina: You could try taking the Choice Scarf off of Latias and putting a Choice Band on Scizor. That way, Latias won't get taken out as easily from something like Choice Band Scizor, since you'll need to hit Garchomp with Draco Meteor and if Scizor switches into that, it's dead, and Scizor's Bullet Punch can probably take it out after Milotic hits it with Ice Beam.

Are there any really funny Smogon analyses I haven't seen yet? Notable ones I've read are Spinda, Luvdisc, Farfetch'd, and Unown. (The first and last mentioned being the best.) The Chatot analysis is kind of funny but not intentionally, the same goes for the abysmal Pachirisu. Plusle, Minun, and Castform get crapped on by Smogon. The Ditto analysis is rather frivolous. The Lumineon, Dunsparce, and Seaking sets are kind of in between funny and serious. Oh and the Kakuna analysis is just stupid and written very poorly. Am I missing anything?

(Reposted with the addition of the frivolous Ditto, crapped on Plusle, Minun, Castform, and abysmal Pachirisu)

And to Cipher, your Milotic and Latias should be able to take out Garchomp

Garchomp moveset confirmed as Outrage/Earthquake/Substitute/Swords Dance with Leftovers!

Best way to counter this with my team?

Weavile/mamoswine with ice shard should do well. One could also use starmie or any other >102 base speed special ice beam user.

Anyways, my question: Lucario: Vacuum Wave or ExtremeSpeed?
SD Lucario = extremespeed

Specs Lucario = Vacuum Wave

Any other lucario = extremespeed. Why? Because extremespeed is more powerful than stabbed Vacuum Wave and Close Combat/Aura Sphere are much stronger than Vacuum Wave, which would be redundant and useless.
