I know this has been posted but I don't understand it.
Okay. I'm ev training my gible in attack and it has the happy face. It can't pass it on but it still gets double the ev points. So I'm going to battle machops.
Note that gible is holding the power item that adds 4 evs to atk.

A wild machop appeared.
gopi sent out gible.(holding power item that doubles atk evs)
gible used dragon claw.
Machop fainted.
Gible gained 26 experience points.

So, does my gible gain 10 ev points?
(1 atk ev from machop + 4 atk evs from power item)*2 = 10 evs
(5)*2 = 10
Is that corect? If not, the please tell me how much it earns.
 
can I kill a gyarados with ThunderBolt with a Special Attack of 196? if not, can I do it with a Thunder?

EDIT: there is no STAB, forgot to add that.

To even have an extremely small chance to OHKO a Gyarados, you need 278 Sp.Atk. This is assuming 384 HP, and no Sp.Def EVs. With 196, you will only 2HKO.
Dont even bother with Thunder, you still cant OHKO.

196 attack vs 236 defense, 95 power(*4), 384 max HP: 60.16% - 70.83%
196 attack vs 236 defense, 120 power(*4), 384 max HP: 75.26% - 88.54%
The answer is no with thunderbolt, though with Stealth Rock up, you can OHKO Gyarados with Thunder when it switches in (assuming it hits of course).

i kept hearing that it was only a 1.25x boost for rock types but yeah it always seemed more like 1.5x. in either case i didn't mean to say that it's not a significant boost by calling it minor. sry.
 
Is it possible to do an IV Battle while doing the soft reset method of checking for IVs? No right since you would have saved before going onto Wifi ?
 
Can I use U-Turn to escape Destiny Bond? Let's say Gengar used Destiny and Staraptor used U-Turn. Will Staraptor faint or will it return to my party?
 
does Facade get a boost from self-induced Sleep i.e. Rest?

because i was trying something in Emerald, I used Rest then Sleep Talk and Facade did about 1/2 the damage that the same Pokemon did when I used Hyper Beam.


...how much does Facade get boosted by anyway?

Facade gets doubled in base power (140), and any form of sleep won't activate it iirc.

If you mean hatching the egg, having an iv battle then resetting then no, since you would be at the wifi room. However, you can do other things and save etc as long as the egg isnt taken from the daycare man.

i.e. Turns on game, in front of daycare man (with egg), uses fly to battle elite four, saves, turns back on, goes back to the daycare man, saves. The egg will still be the same one until you take it in which case its ivs are randomised.
