Actually now that I look at your jnlp file, it is messed up. At the top there is <jnlp>, which is wrong. If you just take off the > (leaving you with <jnlp ) then it should work. Still, I have no idea how that would have happened

Now its back to the error at line 0 message with this as the exception:
Code:
JNLParseException[ Could not parse launch file. Error at line 0.]

i assume its somewhere in the code, because i replaced my java with one that definitely works, yet shoddy still isn't loading.

I'm trying to create my own server but:

If I try to connect using the advanced option I get the error:

Error: Connection refused: connect

If I go to Services and attempt to start Shoddy Battle Server I get a pop up saying:

Could not start the Shoddy Battle Server service on Local Computer.

Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Why does shoddy lag when I try to send messages? Whenever I type something in chat, it takes 5-10 seconds before it actually appears on screen.

Maybe you need to do the same as I did.

Control Panel > Other Control Panel Options > Java > Network Settings

Tick Direct Connection, click OK, Apply, OK.

Take care

Didn't work T_T

Depends on what program you're running while use Shoddy, like limewire, or when you're loading a vid on a site like youtube often slows down Shoddy. Either that or you need to update your java.

No. I can be only running shoddy and I still have this problem. I'm running the latest version of java and you can see my computer specs in the thread on this subject. Shoddy is also the only program I have problems with.

Smogon runs a UU ladder.

I'm really not sure what the network issue could be, sorry. Hopefully it will be better when Shoddy Battle 2 rolls around

How do i get the copypasta for a warstory?

shoddy deletes the top part of the log after a long match. I press save log and it saves it as an unopenable file, i type in .txt after the filename and its in a huge string with no line breaks

How is it done?

I got Gen. Empoleon to email me his shoddybattle.jnlp file and it still isn't working. Any ideas?

You should be able to copy and paste the long string of words into any normal word processing program (i.e. Microsoft Word), and it'll format itself the correct way; that's how I get the logs to work. The reason it looks the way it does is that Notepad is formatted a bit differently than, say, Word, so each line in Notepad would actually correspond to a paragraph were you to copy it into Word.

..i dont believe how blindingly obvious that was

You can't just download the jnlp file from another site, because that downloads other files from the shoddybattle site. If you can't access the shoddybattle site, you have a problem

My shoddys pissing me off

i need help i cant connect to a server as it times out and when it does that all the servers dissapear, and ive re- downloaded it thousands of time

On Shoddy is there a way to get rid off or block the chat box that appears when you first open it? My parents were looking at it last night and they dont want me to use it because of it.

Do you mean the main chat? If so there isn't any way of blocking it, but you can open a PM(Private Message) Box so it doesn't show the main chat.

Get an Java update and click the refresh button when no servers are showing up.

Yeah I mean the main chat. But opening up the PM box would have basically the same effect. How do you do this? I just downloaded it about a week ago, so I dont know how to do a lot of the stuff on it. Thanks!

Shoddy Buggy

Okay, so i was battling some guy, and my lead pokemon started out with 0% health...and when i try to switch to other pokemon, it tells me that they are fainted even though the battle hasn't even officially started yet since no one even attacked. there is usually only 1 pokemon that i can switch to and it lets me use one move and then tells me that i must switch to another pokemon no matter what i try to do after that one move.
What's wrong?

Ah that's happened to me before, its just a glitch just leave which ever server you're on then rejoin and your problem is solved.

Just pasting my post from Turtlecash's help topic, as this seems like a much better place to put it.
Eh, I didn't really wanna bother this with a post, but I've had a similar error, but the exception is different:

EDIT: Well, while I was tinkering with things in the control panel, I seemed to have deleted the temporary cache files, including the shoddy battle one. I still have it downloaded, but its not there when I click "View" on the Temporary Internet Files. It was in Deleted Applications, but then I ended up deleting that too when I couldn't re-install it.

So now when I try to run it, the new error is that the cache for it failed.

I feel really stupid. Help if possible.
