2- Team Description and General Ideas

Welcome to the beginning of a new SV OU Stall Era! Up to this point, the presence of :Gholdengo:and the redistribution of Spikes and Stealth Rock made the Heavy-Duty Boots strategy mandatory for Stall to remain consistent and viable.

With the Unbanning of :Cyclizar: , a new approach to Stall becomes possible; now we can run items other than :Heavy-Duty Boots: on Pokemon due to :Cyclizar:´s hazard control qualities. Previous teams with Defog :Talonflame: and Rapid Spin:Great Tusk: could only dream of :Cyclizar:´s capability to fulfill this role, as it forms an incredible anti-hazard core alongside :Hatterene:.

With that being said, let's understand what makes the "Bicycle" so effective and how it went from a HO enabler to what I hope will be a Stall staple.

3- Individual Roles of Team Members

3.1- Cyclizar

1682457907432.png

:Cyclizar:is a Rapid Spin user with access to the Regenerator ability and the capacity to outspeed and threaten most Spin-Blockers with a Ohko or 2hko. Overheat allows it to Ohko most :Gholdengo: variants, while Knock Off and Draco Meteor threaten :Dragapult:, :Ceruledge:, :Zoroark-Hisui: and :Skeledirge:.

Timid Nature is enough for :Cyclizar: to outspeed most Pokemon, most notably :Glimmora:, :Gholdengo: and :Great Tusk:, with the same applying to most spin blockers. This EV spread maximizes Cyclizar's revenge killing potential while maintaining it´s ability to switch in or lead against hazard setters that :Hatterene: cannot safely switch into, such as :Glimmora: or :Greninja:.

Tera Fairy allows:Cyclizar: to surprise :Dragapult: in case it tries to spin block you, while maintaining a valuable defensive typing that can grant you more opportunities to spin, improving your match against :Dragonite: , :Baxcalibur: and :Walking Wake:.

Knock off is a valuable tool that allows you to break through HDB spam Stall and punish :Garganacl: and assault vest :Toxapex:in case they refuse to switch out.

:Cyclizar: forms a double regenerator core with :Alomomola: which is useful against Volt-Turn cores, Stall and :Garganacl:.

3.2- Hatterene
1682459890792.png

:Hatterene: complements the anti-hazard core by blocking :Clodsire: , :Ting-Lu:,:Great Tusk:and:Garchomp:´s attempts at setting up hazards, while being able to punish other hazard setters with aggressive prediction. Nuzzle is a valuable option that allows you to paralyze common switch-ins like :Gholdengo: or :Kingambit: as well as opposing :Hatterene:and various set up sweepers.

The combination of Rest and Tera Flying allows this Pokémon to wall :Great Tusk: and :Meowscarada: permanently, allowing it to deny their attempts at setting Spikes or Stealth Rock, while helping out against Chain:Garchomp: and Poison Jab :Clodsire:.

Hatterene can be played more aggressively against teams where it´s anti-hazard role isn't as relevant, though it usually gets important tradeoffs against Pokémon that the rest of the team isn't well-equipped to respond to, at times.

3.3- Alomomola
1682371133138.png

:Alomomola: is a Stall staple that has the capability to switch into a variety of physical Pokémon due to its huge physical bulk, most notably :Great Tusk:, :Roaring Moon:, :Dragonite:, :Iron Treads: and :Floatzel:.
It's access to wish, paired with its massive base 160 HP , and access to Regenerator allows it to heal teammates (especially those who rely on rest to heal) freely and consistently every time it receives a free switch-in, resulting in the regeneration of 267 HP. Whirlpool is useful for making progress, while chilling water prevents Bulk Up, Dragon Dance and Curse users from posing any threat.
Tera Ghost is useful for spin-blocking in case it is imperative that hazards remain on the field; while being part of a Regenerator core helps out against opposing Stall, :Garganacl:, and Volt-Turn cores, as mentioned earlier.

3.4- Dondozo
1682425366602.png

:Dondozo:is the physically bulkiest Pokémon on the team, being a part of the Double Unaware Core.
This Pokémon is never the primary switch into any Pokémon since you should use the Regenerator pivots on the team to scout for sets, however, this Pokémon is able to wall Dragon Dance :Baxcalibur:, :Dragonite:and:Roaring Moon:, Swords Dance :Kingambit:, :Quaquaval:, :Garchomp:and Taunt:Ceruledge:as well as a variety of other Pokémon like Calm Mind Psyshock :Hatterene:or Will-o-Wisp :Volcarona:.
This Pokémon enjoys being healed by :Alomomola:´s Wish, since it relies on rest for recovery otherwise.

Tera Fighting boosts body press damage and gifts :Dondozo: a resistance to Dark, which is helpful against :Kingambit:, and some:Roaring Moon: sets, while removing it´s Electric and Grass type weaknesses which is helpful vs :Breloom: and :Iron Hands:. The Stealth Rock resistance is also valuable in many scenarios.

3.5- Blissey
1682427127398.png

:Blissey:is the specially bulkiest Pokémon on the team and the only Stealth Rock setter.
Blissey walls Choice Specs :Walking Wake: :Dragapult:, :Greninja:, :Iron Moth: and :Hydreigon:while being able to switch into special set up sweepers and punish them by setting up Stealth Rock before switching to :Clodsire:.
This Pokémon is capable of absorbing multiple special hits long term, defeating :Polteageist: , :Armarouge:as well as Nasty Plot :Hydreigon:unlike :Clodsire:since they generally run either Substitute or Tera Steel. This Pokémon is generally met with :Great Tusk:which attempts to Rapid Spin Stealth Rock away and absorbs Seismic Toss easily. To ensure Stealth Rock stay up and guarantee progress you can Terastallize Alomomola for reliable Spin blocking. Tera Water allows this Pokémon to wall weather "nukes", most importantly, Tera Water :Walking Wake:in Sun or Rain, Choice Specs :Typhlosion: in Sun and Choice Specs Tera Water :Greninja:and :Pelipper:in Rain.

3.6- Clodsire
1682427779873.png

:Clodsire:is a special wall with the task of handling multiple set-up sweepers due to it´s Unaware ability.
This Pokémon is the team´s primary answer to :Zoroark-Hisui: , :Volcarona:, :Iron Moth:as well as Nasty Plot :Gholdengo:even if it utilizes Tera Flying, since the leftovers passive recovery and the capacity to switch into :Cyclizar: and :Blissey:occasionally on predicted Shadow Balls means you can PP stall Gholdengo reasonably well. :Clodsire: can also wall :Skeledirge:and booster energy :Iron Moth:, although you should go into :Blissey:vs these Pokémon most of the time.
Tera Psychic is a very specific yet effective choice, as Psychic is the only type that allows :Clodsire: to not fear :Iron Valiant:´s Psyshock and Close Combat, as well as :Hatterene:´s Psyshock, Mystical Fire or Draining Kiss, turning it into a reliable answer when it gets out of control. This Tera type also allows this Pokémon to wall the rare Calm Mind :Armarouge:.

4- Difficult Match-ups and Appropriate Counterplay

4.1- Choice Band Meowscarada

1682456034092.png

Put simply, this team struggles with :Meowscarada: because every member of the team is 2hkod or Ohkod by Choice Band Flower Trick. As counterplay, Terastallizing :Hatterene:is mandatory, which limits your Tera options. Hatterene can absorb every move :Meowscarada:can choose, even bouncing off the occasional Spikes. Regardless, Terastallizing Hatterene won´t work if you can not keep Stealth Rock off the field permanently, so be careful with your game plan.

4.2- Focus Sash/Loaded Dice Breloom

1682456520684.png

:Breloom:is a problem for this team, for the same reason as :Meowscarada:, the lack of Grass resistances and abundance of Grass Weak Pokemon on the team. In this case, the only Grass Resistance on the team, :Cyclizar: is threathened with a Mach Punch Ohko, meaning even revenge killing it is a problem. As Counterplay you can either Terastallize :Hatterene: and be extremely careful around Rock Tomb, or Terastallize :Alomomola:, bait spore and hope Breloom doesn´t get too many Bullet Seed hits.

In general, if you feel like you struggle too much with these 2, changing :Alomomola: to Tera Flying is a completely reasonable modification to the team.

4.3- Iron Hands + Pincurchin
1682456990179.png

Under normal circumstances, this team can answer :Iron Hands:through either Draining Kiss :Hatterene:or Tera Fighting :Dondozo:,
however, with the support of :Pincurchin:,
it´s electric type attacks will 2hko :Hatterene:in electric terrain, or Ohko after Swords Dance. Not only that, electric terrain also blocks Dondozo´s Rest, meaning the team has no good form of counterplay. Most of the time I face this bad match-up, I go to :Clodsire:on a predicted Electric or Fighting type attack, and from there, Terastallize it as they Earthquake or Ice Punch just to get a toxic off, allowing :Dondozo:and Protect :Alomomola:to finish the job. The good news are that Electric terrain teams don´t have many threats to Stall, other than :Iron Hands:, so even if you lose a bunch of Pokemon to KO it, there´s still a good chance that you may win.

I would also consider adding iron leaves+pincurchin to the weakness section, for similar reasons the mentioned grass types give you trouble. Iron Leaves already has an excellent matchup into stall, but with no corv or flame body talon, its gonna steamroll. Good thing electric terrain teams kinda suck.
For reference, here's a set I like using:
Iron Leaves @ Electric Seed
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Psyblade
- Close Combat
- Leaf Blade

Besides that, great RMT and great team!

Banned deucer.
Sick team as always, really cool to see niche stuff like rest hatterene being used, but without a toxapex or other tera fairy pokémon, is there any way you can reliably check choice band baxcalibur? Dondozo can pretty easily get worn down by glaive rush, and with tera dragon it can take less damage from body press that would be boosted by glaive rushes secondary effect. Hatterene lacking the reliable recovery makes it vournable to predicts with icicle crash that can wear it down even with the leftovers recovery.

Scout with mola, try to get regen fast before they come back in to be able to scout again. Overall, if you manage to keep rocks up you will be fine against it long term. Also if they ever lock into ice move vs hatterene, alomomola is getting an opportunity to regenerate, just make sure hatt never dies or that they run out of glaive pp before that can happen. Each game is different, but in theory it can be limited by hazards and alomomola will be able to scout what it locks into a few times.

Ye I like it too, only reason I dont run it on this team is leftovers + double Normal Type which lets you handle Flying Gholdengo reasonably, but amnesia is a solid option too.

Honestly, this team looks really solid and crazy annoying to play against, which means you're probably playing stall properly. Although, I still have a few things that I think you could tweak to frustrate your opponent even more:
- Maybe change the spread around for cyclizar (1).png, as I think that breloom.png Bullet Seed and meowscarada.png Flower Trick would be nice to resists as well as having some physical defensive spread options to live even longer to throw out an Overheat. Also could be optimized to be able to switch in against them. Make sure to calc stuff properly. 252 HP and a mix between Def, SpA, and SpD to best optimize against this might help in your matchups, as well as saving your Terastallization. Just a theoretical, though.
- Change alomomola.png to be Dragon or Grass Tera types. This kind of goes off of my first point, but both meowscarada.png and breloom.png pose a threat to your team. I suggest using alomomola.png's high HP and decent Defense to wall these two. A combination of Chilling Water dropping Attack (as long as breloom.png isn't carrying SD) and Whirlpool trapping is probably going to be enough to deal with them, along with some Wish-Prot shenanigans. Also, you can prevent Volt-Turn strategies a lot better when you can safely resist Electric, just choose between Dragon or Grass Tera types just based on your team's needs.

Apart from those two things, this team looks very annoying and I think I might stay away from the OU ladder while this thing is running about.
