[OVERVIEW]

A strong Ice-type STAB move in Blizzard and good Special Attack complemented by good coverage in Freeze-Dry and Earth Power make Aurorus a threatening wallbreaker. Its great offensive pressure and ability to beat nearly all of NU's entry hazard control options one-on-one mean that Aurorus can easily find space to set up Stealth Rock. However, despite its good natural bulk, its low Speed and exploitable typing, including weaknesses to Fighting-, Water-, and Ground-type attacks, leave Aurorus is easily forced out. Additionally, despite being a Rock-type, Aurorus struggles to defensively check Flying-types such as Aerodactyl and Sigilyph, which can leave teams based around it in a tough spot.

Moves
========

Blizzard is Aurorus's strongest, most spammable STAB move, thanks to a lack of reliable Ice-resistant Pokemon in NU, as well as Snow Warning giving it perfect accuracy. Freeze-Dry hits Water-types such as Blastoise and Vaporeon for 2HKOs, providing good coverage when combined with Blizzard. Stealth Rock is essentially mandatory for any competitive team, and Aurorus finds ample opportunities to set it thanks to the number of switches it forces. Earth Power hits Fire-types such as Incineroar and Delphox for heavy damage, as well as OHKOing Togedemaru. Protect can be used to scout what move Choice item Pokemon such as Aerodactyl, Passimian and Togedemaru will lock themselves into, vastly simplifying play against them.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment, a Modest nature, and Icicle Plate combine to maximize Aurorus's power, letting it 2HKO walls such as Vaporeon with Freeze-Dry. Maximum Speed investment is needed to Speed tie with Adamant Pangoro as well as outrun Pokemon such as Rhydon, Dhelmise, and Vaporeon. Snow Warning is Aurorus's ability of choice, raising Blizzard's accuracy to 100% while providing valuable chip damage against foes such as Slowking, Incineroar, and Delphox.

Usage Tips
========

Blizzard is a very low-drawback move thanks to its high Base Power and good neutral coverage as well as the lack of durable Ice-resistant Pokemon in NU. Freeze-Dry should be used when a Water-type is expected to switch in, letting Aurorus bypass Vaporeon, Slowking, and Blastoise with minimal risk to itself. Stealth Rock should be used as early as possible, against forced switches, or against a Pokemon such as Weezing that cannot threaten Aurorus. While Aurorus does have usable bulk, it should not be brought in recklessly, especially considering its lacking resistances; its poor speed means it will often need to take a hit before using an attack of its own, so keeping it at high HP is paramount. Protect should be used when against a Pokemon holding a Choice item such as Passimian or Aerodactyl; depending on the move that they lock into, Aurorus may be able to stay in.

Team Options
========

Fire-types such as Incineroar and Delphox appreciate Aurorus weakening Water-types such as Vaporeon and Blastoise. Pursuit support from Absol or Sneasel can help to remove Ice-resistant Pokemon such as Delphox and Slowking. Defog and Rapid Spin users such as Rotom and Dhelmise let Aurorus avoid taking damage from Stealth Rock. Fighting-resistant Pokemon such as Slowking and Weezing are necessary when using Aurorus given its heavy weakness to Fighting-type attacks. Passimian draws in and pivots on targets such as Weezing, Dhelmise, and Slowking, all of which Aurorus can threaten, while taking on Incineroar. Flying-resistant Pokemon such as Togedemaru and Rotom make good partners, as Aurorus does not match up well against most Flying-types in NU.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Choice Specs increases Aurorus's power even further, letting it OHKO Blastoise after Stealth Rock damage, although it requires far more prediction than other sets. Rock Tomb can be used over Earth Power or Protect to beat Articuno, vastly improving Aurorus's matchup against stall teams as well as slowing down faster foes on a switch.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Delphox, Magmortar, and Incineroar resist Aurorus's Ice-type moves and threaten it with powerful coverage attacks such as Grass Knot, Focus Blast, and Earthquake; however, they all are easily chipped by hail, and need to fear Earth Power.

**Special Walls**: Mega Audino, Assault Vest Slowking, Piloswine, and Wish Delphox all take minimal damage from most moves Aurorus can use and threaten to badly poison it with Toxic, or hit it with strong attacks.

**Fighting-types**: Passimian, Medicham, and Gallade all outrun and OHKO Aurorus, but they struggle to switch in on Blizzard. Hariyama takes almost nothing from any attack Aurorus can use and threatens to OHKO it with Close Combat.

**Faster Threats**: Although they cannot switch in easily, Pokemon such as Sceptile, Togedemaru, Passimian, and Aerodactyl can threaten to OHKO Aurorus with their super effective attacks.

[OVERVIEW]

  • A strong Ice STAB in Blizzard, near unique access to Freeze Dry, and a good special attack stat makes Aurorus a threatening wallbreaker, especially considering good coverage in Earth Power. feel like you should just condense the Earth Power and Freeze-Dry ideas into one list item stating how Aurorus has good coverage. not too sure how I feel about calling Aurorus threatening, but eh your call
  • This offensive pressure means that Aurorus can easily find space to set up Stealth Rock.
  • However, low speed and exploitable typing, including weaknesses to Fighting-, Water-, and Ground-type attacks means that Aurorus is easily forced out. can also note how Aurorus struggles to switch in given its defensive typing is pretty balls. I'd also note how it's a Flying-resistant Pokemon that loses to all the Flying-types pretty badly. like yeah you sort of check Vivillon? but not really? you obvs snack vs sub bu Braviary, but everything else just... beats you

  • Blizzard is Aurorus's strongest STAB, and is very spammable thanks to a lack of reliable Ice-resists in NU, as well as Snow Warning giving it perfect accuracy.
  • Freeze Dry hits Water-types such as Blastoise and Vaporeon for 2HKOs, providing good coverage when combined with Blizzard.

  • Earth Power hits Fire-types such as Incineroar and Delphox for heavy damage, as well as OHKOing Togedemaru.
  • Protect can be used to scout what move an enemy Passimian will lock itself into, vastly simplifying play against it. I'd prob go more general here and say something like "faster Choice item Pokemon" because you have stuff like Aerodactyl, Togedemaru, and Heliolisk that threaten to revenge kill
Set Details
========

  • Maximum Special Attack, a Modest nature, and Icicle Plate combine to maximize Aurorus's power, letting it 2HKO walls such as Vaporeon with Freeze Dry.
  • Maximum Speed investment is needed to speed tie with Pangoro, while letting Aurorus outrun Pokemon such as Rhydon and Vaporeon. specify Adamant Pangoro and add Dhelmise to the list at the end
  • Snow Warning is Aurorus's ability of choice, raising Blizzard's accuracy to 100%, while providing valuable chip damage against foes such as Slowking, Incineroar, and Delphox. Slowking is a bit questionable of a mention I feel given Regenerator, but considering Freeze-Dry does like 45-51 factoring in hail chip I'm not too against it staying
Usage Tips
========

  • Blizzard has very few drawbacks to its use, having few durable resists in NU, and thanks to its high base power and good neutral coverage will rarely be a bad move to use.
  • Freeze Dry should be used when a Water-type is expected to switch in, letting Aurorus easily bypass Vaporeon and Blastoise with minimal risk to itself. may as well add Slowking to the list here
  • Stealth Rock should be used as early as possible, preferrably on a forced switch or against a foe that cannot significantly harm Aurorus such as Weezing. eh I'd reword this a bit to make it seem less fluffy. like talk about how Aurorus can set Stealth Rock on forced switches and against foes that don't threaten it much
  • While Aurorus does have usable bulk, it should not be brought in recklessly; its speed means it will often need to take a hit before using an attack of its own, so keeping it at high HP is paramount. something about its defensive typing also being really ass and not giving it many useful resistances
  • there should definitely be a point about Protect here
Team Options
========

-Fire Types such as Incineroar and Delphox appreciate Aurorus weakening water types such as Vaporeon and Blastoise for them.
-Pursuit support from Absol or Sneasel can help to remove Ice resists such as Delphox for Aurorus. Slowking
-Defog and Rapid Spin users such as Rotom and Dhelmise complete a hazard control core with Aurorus, as well as letting it avoid taking damage from Stealth Rock.
-Fighting resists such as Slowking and Weezing are necessary when using Aurorus, given its heavy weakness to Fighting attacks.
-Passimian draws in targets such as Weezing, Dhelmise, and Slowking, all of which Aurorus can threaten, while taking on Incineroar for it. prob should say how Passimian can easily bring Aurorus in with U-turn against these targets. just makes it even clearer how this is a real nice pair
a secondary Flying-type check is prob a good mention, or you can fit it in alongside other mentions of Pokemon that fit the bill (you have Rotom earlier and can prob find a way to add Togedemaru to an already existing bullet)

  • Choice Specs increases Aurorus's power even further, letting it OHKO Blastoise after Stealth Rock damage, although it requires far more prediction than other sets.
  • Ancient Power can be used to hit Articuno for heavy damage, nearly OHKOing it, while still hitting Fire-types such as Incineroar for a 2HKO, letting Aurorus pressure Stall teams. the pressuring stall teams bit should go after the Articuno mention
Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-Types**: Fire-types such as Delphox and Incineroar resist Aurorus's Ice-type moves, and can both threaten to hit it with powerful Fire-type attacks. can mention how these are generally easy to chip with Stealth Rock + Hail and have to fear Earth Power

**Faster Threats**: Although they cannot switch in easily, Pokemon such as Sceptile, Passimian, and Aerodactyl can threaten to OHKO Aurorus. make this the last point

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Mega Audino, Assault Vest Slowking, and Wish Delphox all take minimial damage from most moves Aurorus can use, and threaten to Toxic it, or hit it with strong attacks.

add one about Fighting-types. Passimian, Medicham, etc all outspeed. can even get crazy and throw in a Hariyama mention given Aurorus can literally only tickle it

Ancient Power can be used to hit Articuno for heavy damage, nearly OHKOing it, while still hitting Fire-types such as Incineroar for a 2HKO, letting Aurorus pressure Stall teams.
The typical Articuno found on stall teams (aka max HP variants with mild SpD) isn't close to being OHKOed by Ancientpower, meaning Ancientpower Aurorus is very easily PP stalled outside of a crit or omni-stat boost. A much more reliable method of dealing with Articuno is Rock Tomb, which handily 2HKOes Articuno before it can move. Rock Tomb also bops Cryogonal, which is otherwise one of the few entry hazard removers which doesn't fear Aurorus. The Speed drop factor is also helpful in allowing Aurorus or its teammates to maintain some offensive momentum.

For that matter, Hasty 4 Atk EVs Rock Tomb Aurorus can even win (or at least have a chance at winning) some generally unfavorable 1v1 matchups, such as 2HKOing Calm Mind Delphox and having a small chance at beating Heliolisk and Mega Glalie.

So yeah, drop Ancientpower and add Rock Tomb instead.

you still need to move the bit about the stall matchup to directly after the Articuno mention; otherwise, the sentence makes no sense

Rock Tomb can be used over Earth Power or Protect to beat Articuno, vastly improving Aurorus's matchup against stall teams,
Add Cryogonal alongside Articuno as a Rock Tomb target.

**Fire-Types**: Fire-types such as Delphox and Incineroar resist Aurorus's Ice-type moves, and can both threaten to hit it with powerful Fire-type attacks, however they all are easily chipped by Hail, and need to fear Earth Power.
I would argue that trying to brute force through Aurorus with Fire attacks is one of the less effective ways to combat it tbh, especially since Delphox has low odds to even 2HKO with Fire Blast while Earth Power Aurorus 2HKOes in return. Delphox is better off attacking with Grass Knot, or better yet set up with Calm Mind to maintain even more advantage. Incineroar should either be using Earthquake or SD-boosted attacks/Z-Moves to bring down Aurorus instead of charging in with Flare Blitz and taking massive recoil from Aurorus's fat HP and Hail chip. You can also add Focus Blast Magmortar as an offensive check as well.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Mega Audino, Assault Vest Slowking, and Wish Delphox all take minimial damage from most moves Aurorus can use, and threaten to Toxic it, or hit it with strong attacks.
Piloswine should be mentioned here, and if the title of this section does not fit Pilo, change it accordingly.

**Faster Threats**: Although they cannot switch in easily, Pokemon such as Sceptile, Passimian, and Aerodactyl can threaten to OHKO Aurorus.
Add Togedemaru as a target. Emphasize the need to target Aurorus's weaknesses to safely KO it due to its bulk and power, and how Protect variants of Aurorus could take advantage of Choice-locked Pokemon because of this.

Defog and Rapid Spin users such as Rotom and Dhelmise complete a hazard control core with Aurorus, as well as letting it let Aurorus (a hazard control core would be something like Blastoise + Xatu or Dhelmise + Garbodor even. it'd be a core that works together to keep entry hazards off the field) avoid taking damage from Stealth Rock. Fighting resists Fighting-resistant Pokemon such as Slowking and Weezing are necessary when using Aurorus,(RC) given its heavy weakness to Fighting-type attacks. Passimian draws in and U-Turns pivots on targets such as Weezing, Dhelmise, and Slowking, all of which Aurorus can threaten, while taking on Incineroar for it. Flying-resistant Pokemon such as Togedemaru and Rotom make good partners, as Aurorus does not match up well against most Flying-types in NU.

Choice Specs increases Aurorus's power even further, letting it OHKO Blastoise after Stealth Rock damage, although it requires far more prediction than other sets. Rock Tomb can be used over Earth Power or Protect to beat Articuno, vastly improving Aurorus's matchup against stall teams, (RC) as well as slowing down faster foes on a switch, (RC) (AP).

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Delphox, Magmortar, and Incineroar resist Aurorus's Ice-type moves, (RC) and can both threaten to hit it with powerful coverage attacks such as Grass Knot, Focus Blast, or and Earthquake; (SC) however, (AC) they all are easily chipped by hail, (RC) and need to fear Earth Power.

**Specially Defensive Special (walls are implied to be defensive, so it's redundant to say defensive wall) Walls**: Mega Audino, Assault Vest Slowking, Piloswine, and Wish Delphox all take minimial minimal damage from most moves Aurorus can use, (RC) and threaten to Toxic badly poison it with Toxic, (RC) or hit it with strong attacks.

**Fighting-types**: Passimian, Medicham, and Gallade all outrun and OHKO Aurorus, however but they struggle to switch in on Blizzard. Hariyama takes almost nothing from any attack Aurorus can use and threatens to OHKO it with Close Combat.

**Faster Threats**: Although they cannot switch in easily, Pokemon such as Sceptile, Togedemaru, Passimian, and Aerodactyl can threaten to OHKO using Super-Effective Aurorus with their super effective attacks.

[OVERVIEW]

A strong Ice-type STAB move in Blizzard and good Special Attack make Aurorus a threatening wallbreaker, especially considering complemented by good coverage in Freeze-Dry and Earth Power make Aurorus a threatening wallbreaker. Its strong great offensive pressure and ability to beat nearly all of NU's entry hazard control options one-on-one mean that Aurorus can easily find space to set up Stealth Rock. However, despite its good natural bulk, its low Speed and an exploitable typing, including weaknesses to Fighting-, Water-, and Ground-type attacks, mean that leave (optional, just trying to avoid "natural bulk, low speed, exploitable typing" reading as one list) Aurorus is easily forced out. Additionally, despite being a Rock-type, Aurorus struggles to defensively check Flying-types such as Aerodactyl and Sigilyph, which can leave teams based around it in a tough spot.

Moves
========

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment, a Modest nature, and Icicle Plate combine to maximize Aurorus's power, letting it 2HKO walls such as Vaporeon with Freeze-Dry. Maximum Speed investment is needed to Speed tie with Adamant Pangoro while letting Aurorus as well as outrun Pokemon such as Rhydon, Dhelmise, and Vaporeon. Snow Warning is Aurorus's ability of choice, raising Blizzard's accuracy to 100% while providing valuable chip damage against foes such as Slowking, Incineroar, and Delphox.

Usage Tips
========

Stealth Rock should be used as early as possible, against forced switches, or when against a Pokemon such as Weezing that cannot threaten Aurorus.
