[OVERVIEW]
A strong Ice-type STAB move in Blizzard and good Special Attack complemented by good coverage in Freeze-Dry and Earth Power make Aurorus a threatening wallbreaker. Its great offensive pressure and ability to beat nearly all of NU's entry hazard control options one-on-one mean that Aurorus can easily find space to set up Stealth Rock. However, despite its good natural bulk, its low Speed and exploitable typing, including weaknesses to Fighting-, Water-, and Ground-type attacks, leave Aurorus is easily forced out. Additionally, despite being a Rock-type, Aurorus struggles to defensively check Flying-types such as Aerodactyl and Sigilyph, which can leave teams based around it in a tough spot.

Moves
========
Blizzard is Aurorus's strongest, most spammable STAB move, thanks to a lack of reliable Ice-resistant Pokemon in NU, as well as Snow Warning giving it perfect accuracy. Freeze-Dry hits Water-types such as Blastoise and Vaporeon for 2HKOs, providing good coverage when combined with Blizzard. Stealth Rock is essentially mandatory for any competitive team, and Aurorus finds ample opportunities to set it thanks to the number of switches it forces. Earth Power hits Fire-types such as Incineroar and Delphox for heavy damage, as well as OHKOing Togedemaru. Protect can be used to scout what move Choice item Pokemon such as Aerodactyl, Passimian and Togedemaru will lock themselves into, vastly simplifying play against them.
Set Details
========
Maximum Special Attack investment, a Modest nature, and Icicle Plate combine to maximize Aurorus's power, letting it 2HKO walls such as Vaporeon with Freeze-Dry. Maximum Speed investment is needed to Speed tie with Adamant Pangoro as well as outrun Pokemon such as Rhydon, Dhelmise, and Vaporeon. Snow Warning is Aurorus's ability of choice, raising Blizzard's accuracy to 100% while providing valuable chip damage against foes such as Slowking, Incineroar, and Delphox.
Usage Tips
========
Blizzard is a very low-drawback move thanks to its high Base Power and good neutral coverage as well as the lack of durable Ice-resistant Pokemon in NU. Freeze-Dry should be used when a Water-type is expected to switch in, letting Aurorus bypass Vaporeon, Slowking, and Blastoise with minimal risk to itself. Stealth Rock should be used as early as possible, against forced switches, or against a Pokemon such as Weezing that cannot threaten Aurorus. While Aurorus does have usable bulk, it should not be brought in recklessly, especially considering its lacking resistances; its poor speed means it will often need to take a hit before using an attack of its own, so keeping it at high HP is paramount. Protect should be used when against a Pokemon holding a Choice item such as Passimian or Aerodactyl; depending on the move that they lock into, Aurorus may be able to stay in.
Team Options
========
Fire-types such as Incineroar and Delphox appreciate Aurorus weakening Water-types such as Vaporeon and Blastoise. Pursuit support from Absol or Sneasel can help to remove Ice-resistant Pokemon such as Delphox and Slowking. Defog and Rapid Spin users such as Rotom and Dhelmise let Aurorus avoid taking damage from Stealth Rock. Fighting-resistant Pokemon such as Slowking and Weezing are necessary when using Aurorus given its heavy weakness to Fighting-type attacks. Passimian draws in and pivots on targets such as Weezing, Dhelmise, and Slowking, all of which Aurorus can threaten, while taking on Incineroar. Flying-resistant Pokemon such as Togedemaru and Rotom make good partners, as Aurorus does not match up well against most Flying-types in NU.

Other Options
=============
Choice Specs increases Aurorus's power even further, letting it OHKO Blastoise after Stealth Rock damage, although it requires far more prediction than other sets. Rock Tomb can be used over Earth Power or Protect to beat Articuno, vastly improving Aurorus's matchup against stall teams as well as slowing down faster foes on a switch.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Delphox, Magmortar, and Incineroar resist Aurorus's Ice-type moves and threaten it with powerful coverage attacks such as Grass Knot, Focus Blast, and Earthquake; however, they all are easily chipped by hail, and need to fear Earth Power.
**Special Walls**: Mega Audino, Assault Vest Slowking, Piloswine, and Wish Delphox all take minimal damage from most moves Aurorus can use and threaten to badly poison it with Toxic, or hit it with strong attacks.
**Fighting-types**: Passimian, Medicham, and Gallade all outrun and OHKO Aurorus, but they struggle to switch in on Blizzard. Hariyama takes almost nothing from any attack Aurorus can use and threatens to OHKO it with Close Combat.
**Faster Threats**: Although they cannot switch in easily, Pokemon such as Sceptile, Togedemaru, Passimian, and Aerodactyl can threaten to OHKO Aurorus with their super effective attacks.
