Pokémon Aurorus

Tha is just another Ice-type who'll have to play its role for weather and thats it. Considering HOW MANY hail benefited pokemon are in low-tier and none can appreciate it because hail is banned from low tier Aurorus will end up BL or NU (Refrigarate-only). I do like its typing minus its major weakness to the Kingtyping of 5th gen but it doest really have it. Its ability is as useless as Pixelate since the only Special Normal moves that could really be used are hyperbeam, boomburst, and swift. With Snow Warning you do have a possibility to do something with Aurorus but some people think ability-weather is OP in low tier. Thus even with a fantastic movepool i see this Dino's future as extinct as the real thing
I've said this in another thread and I'll say it again: this isn't BW. Stop sticking XY Pokemon into BW tiers and assuming they'll work in the XY metagame exactly as they would there.

I know it sounds like I'm attacking you (consider it slightly annoyed constructive criticism), but seriously, this is one of the worst ways to judge a Pokemon's potential. We did that in DP when we "built" UU, and that didn't turn out well until we gave up and dumped the 30+ BL Pokemon back into UU.

On Aurorus though: Freeze Dry is only particularly useful on monoattacking sets. I honestly can't see any use for it on a Pokemon that can learn Thunderbolt and Ice Beam unless it doesn't have room for a second attacking move. Sure Freeze Dry hits Water-types a bit harder than Thunderbolt, but Thunderbolt will usually do the job anyway.

EDIT: seeing Hyper Beam say "It's super effective" is probably the most satisfying thing I've ever seen in Pokemon though, that shit is the BEST

Freeze Dry hits Water/Ground, Water/Grass, Water/Electric, and Water/Dragon for better type-effectiveness than Thunderbolt. Not that I expect Aurorus to often have to fight Water/Dragon-types.

Cool I wont say you are attacking me because everyone is comparing this to current BW tiers anyways. The point im saying overall is they are only a few possibilities i see here with Aurorus:

-Hail remains banned and thus SW Aurorus will be forced to go to BL or maybe UU though its weakness hurts
-because 4x weak to Fighting itll need to stay away from hard hitting Fighting types
-its ability would keep it from ascending beyond a low-tier standard.

I like the pokemon i do I just seem some faults

Iight so Aurorus can pass Freeze-Dry to Lapras and im trying to upload the picture of the proof but its saying its too large. Any advice since it would be nice to verify this.

Why run tbolt over freeze dry?

You're arguing the opposite but why not put freeze dry where tbolt would go, it hits alot of waters(which are iffy staying in on if its not a 4x freeze dry anyway) better than tbolt and if its flying you'd use ice beam or SUPER EFFECTIVE HYPERBEAM GET FUCKED CHOMP

And Freeze-Dry can officially be passed down by breeding Aurorus.

Thats awesome. You won't have to run Thunderbolt anymore on Lapras, when you can Freeze dry them. Plus with Water Absorb this makes Lapras even more of a tank, and a threat to your Freeze Dry X4 weakness water types.

So Aurorus has found its purpose - to be a Freeze-Dry farm. Maybe some Pokemon were just never meant to be in battle... unless someone has tried breeding Explosion onto an Amaura...?

(We've already proven it doesn't get Boomburst through breeding, right?)

That said, I don't think many Pokemons will be able to get it.

Not many Ice types in the Monster Egg group.

Abomasnow maybe.

Lapras is also in the Water1 egg group, though, so chain-breeding could be a distinct possibility to get MANY other mons Freeze-Dry.

Kabuto, Omanyte, Corsola, Corphish, Tirtouga, and Clauncher are Water1 and Water3, if we're lucky we'll get Aurorus->Lapras->Oma/Kabu/Cors/Corph/Tirt/Clau->Shellder. It's a long shot and a half, but one can dream

Water/Flying, Water/Grass..
Given that Abomasnow is one of the few Pokemon who can use Blizzard freely, he's better off just using that and using Grass STAB for most Water-types. Freeze-Dry isn't worth using over either of those slots and it's not worth a third slot.

lmfao Freeze Dry gets passed to Lapras!? Oh i cant wait to dust off my Sub Lapras and wreck house.

edit: this means I can run Psychic on my Lapras now!? ffs im happy thankyou Aurorus for passing down your signature move

Watch out people, Delibird learns Freeze-Dry via chain-breeding Aurorus->Lapras->Delibird. (FUCK I WISH THERE WAS A BETTER PLACE TO POST THIS). Time to check out where I can chain-breed this move farther.
