I decided to base my core around three Pokemon of the Grass, Fire, and Water types, just as the starters are typed. A Grass/Fire/Water core covers itself nicely offensively and defensively. This team has been working very well, and has only lost once (and that was just a dumb mistake on my part), and the rest have been wins. If you suggest a change, please keep in mind the core of the team.
GLANCE:
Dragonite@Life Orb
Quiet - 252 Attack / 252 Special Attack / 4 Speed
+Inner Focus+
~Superpower -->Fire Blast
~Extremespeed
~Draco Meteor
~Earthquake
Dragonite takes the lead position. He can OHKO or otherwise threaten many leads in OU with power STAB Draco Meteors. Dragonite can also wall break mid game and help to nullify stall teams. Extremespeed helps to nab Focus Sashers before they get a chance to use their second move. The EVs maximize damage output while giving enough speed to outpace 0 Speed Metagross.
I am currently testing Fire Blast in place of Superpower for Metagross leads, as I wasn't finding much use with Superpower.
Gyarados@Leftovers
Adamant - 156 HP / 72 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Spe
+Intimidate+
~Waterfall
~Stone Edge
~Taunt
~Dragon Dance
Gyarados starts off my core trio. A powerful water type that also is immune to ground, Gyarados is a great contender. If the enemy team is not prepared or a fitting hole is ripped in the other team, Gyarados can muscle its way to victory. I chose the bulky set because I like the extra insurance against physical threats.
Infernape@Life Orb
Naive - 192 Speed / 252 Sp. Atk / 64 Attack
+Blaze+
~Fire Blast
~Close Combat
~Hidden Power [Ice]
~Grass Knot -->Nasty Plot
Infernape follows in the trio. A powerful mixed sweeper, Infernape is another Pokemon that can easily sweep opponents if they are not prepared. His speed makes him a valuable player, but he doesn't seem to be helping as much as the other members. The moveset seems a bit weak, but maybe it was just the situations that arose.
I replaced Grass Knot with Nasty Plot, testing in progress.
Shaymin@Leftovers
Bold - 252 HP / 220 Defense / 32 Speed
+Natural Cure+
~Seed Flare
~Toxic
~Leech Seed
~Protect
Shaymin certainly is one underrated Pokemon. Many people think it is just a bad Celebi and is weak, but they are using it wrong. I prefer Shaymin because it has less weaknesses than Celebi, which is vital when rounding out a trio such as this. Leech Seed and Toxic make for a very draining situation for the opponent, pulling them down to KO range for Seed Flare in one or two turns. Which is the greatest part, because a Pokemon hiding behind status and Protect suddenly exploding with a KO is fun. <3
Scizor@Choice Band
Adamant - 252 Attack / 240 HP / 16 Speed
+Technician+
~Bullet Punch
~U-Turn
~Superpower
~Pursuit
Shaymin, Gyarados, and Infernape may make the core trio of this team, but Dragonite and Scizor definitely made a dangerous duo of their own. They cover each others' weaknesses perfectly. Scizor is the revenge killer everyone loves to hate and hates to love, with great priority and support/scouting options. Pursuit is great for trapping and taking out things to ease the sweep for my trio. I added 8 extra EVs to outpace the threats that aim to outpace the standard.
Rotom-H@Choice Scarf
Timid - 128 HP / 164 SpA / 216 Spe
+Levitate+
~Thunderbolt
~Shadow Ball
~Overheat
~Trick
Rotom is the joker of the team, to say the least. He certainly compliments the team's coverage by adding Ghost and Electric. I was very puzzled as to which set to run, so I just picked one and ran with it. This one has been working well enough, but I've been pondering a RestTalker for status absorbtion as well as a plain Defensive build with Will-o-Wisp. Any suggestions?
Thank you for reading, and please leave a suggestion, even if its just one. Thanks! (:
