Balance is Power

Hello Smogonites! I wanted to try team preview and wifi-sucks so now I'm here with my DW team! This team has lost only once so far in my laddering and I am currently in the 30's or so after 20-25 battles. I made this team as balanced as I possibly could by having almost no set-up pokemon as well as the ability to check/wall the offensive metagame. So...

Team Building Process:
Code:
[IMG]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/649.png[/IMG]
I decided to start off with a general all-around revenge killer/checker to deal with many of the DW threats. Thus genesect found his spot!
[IMG]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/649.png[/IMG][IMG]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/184.png[/IMG]
Before starting the rest of my team, I needed both a physical threat and a check to the ever-so-common sandstorm teams. Banded azu was the first to come to mind with his all-but-jellicent coverage and monstrous attack.
[IMG]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/649.png[/IMG][IMG]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/184.png[/IMG][IMG]http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/3057/242x.png[/IMG][IMG]http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/6/6d/598.png[/IMG]
Just as every great team has, I need a rock-solid defensive core. To fill this spot, I used the ever-so-puffy Blissey along with the odd hanging plant Ferrothorn. Between the two of them, I could wall many many of the main attackers, both physical and special.

[IMG]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/649.png[/IMG][IMG]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/184.png[/IMG][IMG]http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/3057/242x.png[/IMG][IMG]http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/a/af/485.png[/IMG][IMG]http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/6/6d/598.png[/IMG]
I needed a reliable special attacker and figured that I could also finish my FWG core at the same time. Heatran, with its fantastic SpAtt and decent bulk, fit perfectly, being able to take attacks as well as dish them out extremely well.
[IMG]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/649.png[/IMG][IMG]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/184.png[/IMG][IMG]http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/3057/242x.png[/IMG][IMG]http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/a/af/485.png[/IMG][IMG]http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/6/6d/598.png[/IMG][SIZE=1][COLOR=#FFFFFF][IMG]http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/pokemon/094.png[/IMG][/COLOR][/SIZE]
Finally, I needed one extra member to hold everything together. I have gone through many pokemon (Thundurus, Zapdos, Scrafty, Dekusan, etc,) before finally settling with Gengar as an extra offensive force. This spot is still very open to suggestions though as none of the pokemon I've placed here have really done much for the team.

Genesect (Revenge Killer/Check) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Download
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Mild Nature (+SAtk, -Def)
- Psychic
- U-turn
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam

Although he is not the "super-annoying-broken-ugly-ass-bug-thing" that everyone believes he is, he still packs quite a punch (and looks good doing it). His main purpose on this team is to both revenge kill as well as check many threats (gliscor, nattorei, any fighting type, any grass type), but he often serves as a general disruptor with u-turn. I run psychic over thunderbolt on him as, before adding Gengar, I had a huge fighting weakness and Genesect outsped and OHKO'd every single fighting type he was matched up against. Thunderbolt only really hits water types, many of which are bulky enough to withstand my attack anyways, and Ferrothorn acts as a check for them. Psychic proved time and time again to be the better option. The EVs are self-explanatory. Max SpAtt because U-turn is only used when none of his moves will do what I need them to do and I'd still like him to cause a bit of damage before switching out (which rarely happens).

Azumarill (Physical Monster/Sand Counter) @ Choice Band Trait: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Ice Punch
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Superpower

Although Azu is extremely cute, he is one of the biggest offensive presences in OU. Reaching around 600 Attack with a Choice Band, Azu is capable of destroying the metagame with stab waterfall, as well as taking on fast, frail threats (Excadrill, Alakazam, etc.) with Aqua Jet. Ice Punch over Return as dragons are much more prevalent than whatever Return would be used against and Superpower for coverage. He can virtually 1HKO many sand teams, making him a valuable asset to my team. EVs provide plenty of Attack as well as a bit of bulk as the extra speed won't help him to out-speed much more than he already can and the ability to tank a hit is much more valuable.

Blissey (Wall/Cleric) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Protect
- Toxic

Although some may disagree, I believe that Blissey is the same old SpDef monster that she was before, even with the new power-houses stampeding around. EVs are self explanatory... max SpDef so that she can tank SpAtts (obviously...). Max Def so that she isn't completely helpless at the hands of a physical attacker. Heal Bell so that she can rid my team of extremely annoying status problems (burned Azu=worthless Azu), Wish so that she can heal both herself and my other teammates, Protect for scouting and so that she can heal through both Wish and Lefties, and Toxic so that she has some means of damaging the opponent. Blissey most definitely suffers from 5-moveslot-syndrome but with a bit of prediction, I can switch her out when something troubling (steel type) comes in.

Heatran (Special Attacker) @ Air Balloon Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Flame Charge
-Earth Power
- Dark Pulse
- Flamethrower

Heatran is simply an extremely reliable attacker. With just one turn of Flame Charge set up (which is very easy considering how many switches he can cause), Tran is free to pound away at the opposing team. Flame Charge to boost his mediocre speed, Earth Power for coverage, Dark Pulse for coverage, Flamethrower for STAB. Max SpAtt and Speed (obviously). Air Balloon to save him from the ever-so-prevalent ground attack. Even without a SpAtt boost, Heatran has swept many teams for me and rarely lets me down.

Ferrothorn (Physical Wall) @ Leftovers Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Protect
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed

Taking over Forry's position as a physical wall this gen, Ferrothorn truly gets the job done as he has just as good defenses as Forry, better typing, and the ability to do something rather than just tanking hits and switching out. Max HP and Def allow Forry to take advantage of Iron Barbs while also allowing him to take nearly every physical attack in the game (including some fire punches). Stealth Rock for obvious reasons. Protect to scout and get leech seed/lefties recovery. Power Whip to deal with water types. Leech Seed as a passive damage/recovery method. Forry is also my main rain check as there are very very few water types that can even put a dent in him.

Gengar (Fighting Counter+Attacker) @ Life Orb Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Pain Split

Last but not least (okay... maybe least) is Gengar. He is pretty much only here because Dynamicpunch Machamp (among other fighting types) were beating the crap out of me. I could get around them, but having a ghost is so much easier. This is classic Sub-Split Gengar which can both stall and clean-up sweep. EVs+Attacks are self-explanatory. I was considering running Timid over Modest to outspeed some stuff that isn't outsped but don't know if I want to lose the SpAtt boost.

Heatran doesn't pack enough of a punch, give it Fire Blast and Dragon Pulse > Dark Pulse.

Since you're running Leech Seed on Ferrothorn, give it Gyro Ball so it can hit Grass types. Also, due to the offensive nature of your team, Thunder Wave > Protect because it provides invaluable support for your sweepers.

Blissey is also set up fodder. If you need a Special Wall, a superior choice is Latias, which forms a Dragon/Steel core with Ferrothorn. The Calm Mind set with Roar is best suited for this purpose.

Scrafty could be a huge problem for this team. 4 members are weak to his stabs I know azumarill might seem good but one small counter to something that totally wrecks your team is a little small. I don't really use simulators so thus might be inaccurate but is psychic really good on gene sect? I think it gets thunderbolt

Oh god yes psychic is fantastic on gene... 1hkos the fighting meta which is extremely important against roob, machamp, etc.

Dd scrafty is a large problem if it can set up... tearing apart my entire team. Anything i can add in place of gengar to hwlp with that?

I will try latias but i feel like being a cleric is too important as well as the monstrous wish passes.

Heatran actually hits much much harder than I expected... but i will try fire blast. dark pulse needs to stay because dragons (besides surfing latis) cause little trouble to tran or the rest of my team. dark pulse, however, deals with the likes of alakazam, the latis (after prior damage), etc

Alakazam dies from Flamethrower/Fire Blast (frail as hell), and the latis twins are dealt with with Dragon Pulse. To check DD Scrafty, you could change Azumarill for Conkeldurr, who checks Scrafty and still gives you a way of checking Excadrill.

nice team but conkeldur will wreck your team atm so mayby swap ferro out for a toxic stall gliscor so and you can check terrakion which with or without prediction will wreak havoc on your team
