Balance Leads To Victory

This is a true OU team I am thinking about using. On Paper I think it sounds good, and each piece of the puzzle that makes this team up is not only viable but impressive. The hope of this team is to be able to balance the needs of both offense and defense without leaning too heavily on one or the other. Its uses a combination of speed, power, and crafty defense to shut down opponents.

Forretress.png

1: The Defensive Spinner: Forretress
Let's face it Forretress has been doing this job for years. It comes in set-ups some hazards and then spin away those used by the opponent. On this team he is asked to do no different. He keeps up the pressure against certain counters with his Earthquake attack which may not actually kill anything, but can dent certain opponents. This is of course after layers Spikes and toxic Spikes.
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 Hp, 200 Defense, 56 Special Defense
Moves: Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Earthquake, Rapid Spin
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy

Virizion.png

2: The Special Wall: Virizion
While I know a lot of people look at this pokemon to attack and set-up, I don't. Virizion's job on this team is to use Toxic and wall special attacks. Now that doesn't mean I didn't want this pokemon to attack at all, that is not the case. Virizion packs Giga Drain for life recovery and Focus Blast to deal what she must. Roar can be used on her to help send those trying to setup on Virizion away, or one could use Calm Mind to start raising her Special Stats and perhaps slowly try to set up as well.
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 Hp, 252 Special Defense, 4 Special Attack
Moves: Toxic, Roar, Giga Drain, Focus Blast
Item: Shell Bell
Ability: Justified

Metagross.png

3. The Revenge Killer: Metagross
This pokemon oozes power, defense, and with its lovely accessory, Speed. Metagross resists one of the most popular entry hazards in Stealth Rock, is Immune to Toxic Spikes, and cannot have its stats lowered. All this means, is that Metagross is perfect to come in and clean up a weakened opponent that made the mistake of taking down one of Metagross' friends. As with any great Revenge Killer, Coverage is a must and Metagross covers it with 4 Solid Moves.
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Speed, 4 Hp
Moves: Earthquake, Meteor Mash, Pursuit, Zen Headbutt
Item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Clear Body

Haxorus.png

4: The Physical Force: Haxorus
This Pokemon is an absolute Force to be reckoned with. Power, Decent Bulk, manageble speed, its looks good on Paper. And on the field of battle, the facts cannot be disputed, Haxorus rips teams apart. For me, Dragon Dance is the Boosting move of Choice. This raises Speed and allows my axe face dragon the ability to grind opponents to dust. Outrage and Earthquake are the Power Spot selections. Brick Break filling a need to rip open little Ice type Pokemon that think they have what it takes. Haxorus on this team has but one simple job, Destroy.
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Speed, 4 Hp
Moves: Earthquake, Outrage, Brick Break, Dragon Dance
Item: Expert Belt
Ability: Mold Breaker

Gengar.png

5. The Jedi (Special Attacker): Gengar
Gengar is on this team for two Reasons. One to represent the First Gen of Pokemon, and two and more importantly, to bring a Special Attack beat as only a true ghost can. So let's break it down. Shadow Ball is stab and delivers huge amounts of Damage coming off Gengar's Special Attack. Thunderbolt gives Coverage and hits a large number of Water Pokemon for massive Damage. Focus Blast makes Steel and Rock types into dust. And finally Venoshock is a little treat for any pokemon that ran into Toxic Spikes or Toxic from Gengar's buddies.
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Hp
Moves: Venoshock, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, Focus Blast
Item: Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate

Infernape.png

6. The Mixer: Infernape
My favorite Starter stands tall here with powerful allies. But don't for think for a second he doesn't hold his own. Speed, Power, and Versatile moves, He is designed to do one thing, punch holes and help allies set up. That Fire Type giving issues Virizion, Here comes Infernape. That Steel Type making life hard Gengar? Leave it to Infernape. Defensive Pokemon have to fear the arrival of Infernape because he has the ability to put a hurting on Walls.
Nature: Hasty
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Special Attack
Moves: Overheat, Close Combat, Stone Edge, U-Turn
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Blaze (Though I would more than change this up a bit if Iron Fist was available.)

So all in all you have had a look at my team. Its doesn't depend on Weather, which I guess could come back to hurt it. However, each part of the Puzzle can handle its own in any given situation. The key is balance, and that is what I aimed for. I had thought about using Terrakion, but decided I preferred Metagross in the roll of Revenge Killer. Lucarion was another possible Mixed Threat, but I don't need Four Pokemon Weak to Fire.
Anyway, feel free to offer advice and suggestions. And I hope you like the basic ideal of the team so far.

Hey, cool team but I feel that it would be so much better if you just switched some of the items / movesets around a bit. An offensive team like this would probably be better off with CM Virizion over your current set since it provides a lot of attacking power from the special side, which this team is almost lacking right now. Lum Berry > Expert Belt on Haxorus is also a pretty good decision you could try - Dragon doesn't have much super effective coverage to speak of. Lastly, Gengar's set looks really inefficient - I think a SubDisable Gengar over your current Specs set would be really nice, since it keeps up hazards really easily versus pretty much every spinner in OU.

Moving on, I feel that rain teams kinda put this team in a catch-22, since they hit almost everything on your team at least neutrally bar Virizion with Water-type moves. Virizion is your most important Pokemon in this case, but one of the most common rain abusers at the moment, Tornadus, can easily OHKO any version of Virizion with Hurricane, taking most of your team with it. Admittedly this is a pretty easy fix -Hasty over Adamant on Metagross lets you outspeed pretty much all Tornadus and OHKO with Meteor Mash. When I say Hasty, this keeps in mind that HP Fire over Earthquake is being used - with Hidden Power Fire, you can now check all SD variants of Scizor, since they otherwise flat out sweep you. On top of that, it can weaken opposing Skarmory to the point that Haxorus can sweep much easier. Just make sure to move the 4 filler EVs to Special Attack n_n

Lum Berry > Expert Belt on Haxorus
Hasty > Adamant on Metagross
HP Fire > Earthquake @ ^

SubDisable Gengar > current Gengar:

Gengar @ Black Sludge
Timid Nature | 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Shadow Ball / Substitute / Disable / Focus Blast

CM Virizion > current Virizion:

Virizion @ Leftovers
Timid Nature | 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Calm Mind / Focus Blast / Giga Drain / HP Ice

Hope I helped - GL!

Thanks for the advice and I will certainly be trying the different Variants you mentioned and posting Results.

Ummm you seem to have a weakness to fire attacks so I would suggest maybe consider running arcanine with flash fire or heatran. Infernape isn't really a defensive pokemon so you can't rely on him to tanks all the fire attacks thrown out there, especially under sun. It doesn't look like a humongous issue so it's probably fine if you don't, but something to consider.

Forretress: Trust me, i know Forretress. Go with the spread you wish, and set Stealth Rocks + Spikes + Rapid Spin + Gyro Ball and Rocky Helmet as item. If the foe has a Dragonite, use Tress as a lead. Set some hazards as he dances, then Gyro Ball. You can also kill Espeon and such. I recommend a specially defensive spread

Metagross: A Jolly nature should be used due to the very low Speed. If you wish you can use Explosion / Bullet Punch over Zen Headbutt. The first one is extremely strong, and can ko lots of threats even after the power decrease. BP (will make you weaker to Rotom-W) is very helpful against any faster threat, first of all Scarf Terrakion, and also stronger against priority user

Haxorus: Brick Break is really unneeded. You can use it only against Blissey (doesn't 1HKO) and Ferrothorn (you'll get lots of Iron Barbs damage). You can try both Swords Dance (so you can decide what setup is better, if you can), Dual Chop (to kill Dragonite and sashers) or Night Slash (gives you a nice way to deal with Jellicent). I don't like Expert Belt so much, i'd go Leftovers / Life Orb. Maybe Leftovers

Gengar: Venoshock sucks, you should really change it to Hidden Power Ice because hits way harder Dragon-types than Shadow Ball. Sub + 3 attacks is another option, if you want
Forretress:
Change it totally, as i said in the description
Pros: Deals with many threats
Cons: You lose Toxic Spikes

Metagross:
Jolly > Adamant
Pros: Much more Speed
Cons: Less Attack

Explosion / Bullet Punch > Zen Headbutt
Pros: Explosion is a nice way to die, Bullet Punch is an awesome priority
Cons: Less coverage

Haxorus:
Swords Dance / Dual Chop / Night Slash > Brick Break
Pros: Better coverage / boosts
Cons: It's harder to kill Blissey

Leftovers > Expert Belt
Pros: More durable, especially you may resist at Scizor's attacks
Cons: Slighty weaker attacks

Gengar:
Hidden Power Ice > Venoshock
Pros: Hits Dragons really harder
Cons: Nothing

If I were you I wouldn't do anything about Metagross's speed. Take those speed evs and split them between def and sp def how you want. Then give it bullet punch, zen headbutt, meteor mash and earthquake. Also change its item to what you think fits with it

After seeing some posts about my team, I have made the following switches to increase potential of the team.

Haxorus item is now Lum Berry.

Gengar's moveset is now Disable, Substitute, Focus Blast, and Shadow Ball.

Still working on a Virizion update and Metagross update. Even considering a possible switch in pokemon to account for Fire type weakness.

So as I stated before I was looking into a possible switch in pokemon to try and achieve a better overall scheme. And I think I found a better choice in terms of helping team Synergy.

wash-rotom.jpg

ROTOM-W

Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Def
Items: Choice Scarf (If replacing Metagross) or Life Orb (If replacing Virizion)
Ability: Levitate
Moves: Thunderbolt, Hydro Pump, Volt Switch, Shadowball

Dual Stab(Electric) might silly, but it allows the Choice Set to scout for me. And it allows the Life Orb Set to escape unscathed from opponents who can hurt it. Hydro Pump is there for obvious reasons. And Shadow ball is good for anything that is named Gengar or Alakazam.

Anyway, let me know what you think of the switch and perhaps which pokemon on the team should be dropped for my Washing Machine from Hell.

Also trying to get ideas for the best Item to run on SubDisable Gengar.
