SM OU Balanced Aron team

Introduction

Aron is a fantastic pokémon.
Its a fear? Yes. But its more than a simple fear.
Aron uses its ability to survive the hit. Most others
use a focus sash. What this means? Simple: he can run shell bell.

Shell bell is magical here.
What it does, is that if you directly damage your oponent, you is healed by 1/8th of the damage.
Not impressed? Yea, its because it isnt good in normal circunstances. But, on aron, something magical
happens. Because that lv 1, uninvested aron only has 12 Hp, anything that has more than 96 Hp would make aron back to full health, ready to use sturdy again. This means that he cant be kill by normal means - only secondary effects, such as status, flinchs and multi-hits move can kill him. Another thing that can kill him is hazard entrys, so he cant switch in everything. Luckly, he is a steel type, so he can switch in poison attacks and toxics. Not much? Yea. But if the strategy works, he can destroy the oposing team. How he kills the oponent? Sandstorm. If sandstorm is up, he can kill the enemys in 1 turn, not worrying about prioritys.

What can stop him? Well, due to do not having a finishing move, Ground, Rock and Steel cant be killed by him. However, they still would be severely damaged. Ghost types are also a bigger tread, but there arent any many relevant ghost-types in the tier right now. Other things that can stop agron: spore, multi-hitting moves and scald.

Building

Aron because its a team around, um, aron.

Keldeo fits the strategy as a glove. His Water and Fighting attacks can
take down the steel, rock and grounds that could otherwise force Aron
to switch out.

Zapdos was here for its ability to attack pokémons
that could otherwise defeat aron, such as Ferrothorn, Pelliper,
Heracross-Mega, etc. Its also good to our team due to its
longetivity and defog.

Skarmory is here to form a double defog core with Zapdos.
It also can set spikes, so that Keldeo can kill what it needs to kill
more easly. He also helps against Garchomp and other physical attackers.

Ive needed of a koko check, a stealth rock setter and a sandstorm
setter. Hippowdown made a good guy to have around, checking koko,
setting sandstorm and setting SR. Another good thing about him is that
he can counter Alola-Marowak, that otherwise would be big problem.

Ive needed of a mega and a big offensive pressure.
Sharpedo realy helps the team. Its water type allows him to
remove even more grounds, and its coverage is no joke.
Water, Dark and Psychic can hit many common oponents super-effective
or normal effective. It likes a lot spikes and stealth rock support from
scarmory and hippowdown and can work as a secondary win-con.

In-depth explanation of the team

Aron @ Shell Bell
Ability: Sturdy
Level: 1
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 HP / 0 Atk / 0 Def / 0 SpA / 0 SpD / 0 Spe
Endeavor
Stealth Rock
Roar
Toxic

Aron is here for obvious reasons.
He has 0 IVs in everything to be weaker to attacks and to
have less Hp. Stealth Rock, Roar and Toxic can be used if the sandstorm
is down and there isnt much more that he can do, giving a little team
support.

Keldeo @ Waterium Z
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
Calm Mind
Hydro Pump
Secret Sword
Taunt

Calm Mind Keldeo is the best keldeo variant for the team, with its 2 stabs
it can deal with what can stop Aron. Taunt allows him to stop problematic status-inducers,
that could treaten Aron or Keldeo, such as Celesteela's leech seed. A +1 keldeo Z Hydro
Pump can 1HKO Celesteela and other steel types that otherwise could give many problems to
the team.

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 240 Def / 20 Spe
Bold Nature
Discharge
Roost
Heat Wave
Defog

Zapdos's Discharge is his main STAB, Heat Wave can hit Ferrothorn,
that is the hazzard setter of many teams, and M-Scizor, that is a very strong and
powerfull pokémon. Roost is for longetivity, and Defog is to make a double defog core
with Skarmory.

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
Bold Nature
Counter
Defog
Roost
Spikes

Skarmory completes the double defog core with Zapdos.
Counter is its only damaging option, being able to deal damage to those
physical attackers that think they can 2HKO you. Defog is defog, roost
for longevity and Spikes for wearing down the oponent, damaging many
important oponents.

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
Impish Nature
Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Slack Off
Whirlwind

Hippowdown is my lead. He has good matchups agains common leads,
such as Tapu Koko, Landorus-T and Loppuny-Mega. Stealth Rock because this
is a competitive team, Earthquake is main stab, Slack Off is its recovery and
Whirlwind is to do not became setup folder. Pretty standart hippowdown set,
moving on...

Sharpedo-Mega @ Sharpedonite
Ability: Strong Jaw
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
Waterfall
Crunch
Protect
Psychic Fangs

Sharpedo is strong. Like, very strong.
Protect is to get a free Speed Boost, Crunch is main STAB.
Waterfall isnt used a lot by sharpedos, but I decided to use it
over Ice Fang due to it being better to kill Steel Rock Grounds.
Psychic Fangs is another very strong move, having a big chance to
1HKO Mega-Venusar withouth rocks. With rocks, its guaranteed.

Conclusion

This team isnt the best team around - not even close.
In this team, Ive tryed to make a team around Aron. I succeded? Not much.
But its a try, at least. If any of yours wanna make a team with me around Aron,
I would be glad to help, if yours need. Anyways, take this more as an experiment
with Aron than a team to ladder. Thanks for reading, and good rate!

Q equipe maravilhosa de ruim

The first thing i should change is replace Stealth Rock M-Ttar over Hippo, MTtar besides giving Sandstorm and Stealth Rock, provide Pursuit Support that helps his Keldeo against Lati@s, Reuniclus and Mew.

Since Mshark automatically exits from your team, you can put AshGreninja that just as Shark has a good matchup against most Rock / Ground / Steel types of the tier (except Ferrothorn ofc) and having Priority is always welcome (besides the fact that Aron gives Free Kills to AshNinja)

Hi EuSouAFazenda! Interesting team using the gimmick of Aron. Unfortunately, it's not great in OU by any stretch of the imagination, but to maintain the charm that the team has, I'll keep it on your team. However, I'll make an alternate version that replaces Aron as well.

OVERVIEW

Firstly, let's go over this team's primary weaknesses and threats. Kyurem-Black absolutely shreds through this team, given that it has Teravolt to bust through Aron's and Skarmory's Sturdy. It outspeeds 2/3s of the team [Aron, Zapdos, Skarmory, Hippowdon] and can OHKO or at least 2HKO everything as well. Tapu Lele can easily spam Psychic when it comes in on slower Pokemon like Zapdos or Hippowdon, given that Sharpedo is weak to Moonblast. This makes Sharp wary of switching in directly. Kartana with Darkinium Z doesn't have a hard time cleaning up, either, because Sharpedo-Mega doesn't OHKO with Crunch and it outspeeds Keldeo. Kartana can't faint to Sandstorm damage from Aron either. But disregarding that, no smart player would sac their Kartana to the Aron anyways. This team has a very hard time with Shift Gear Magearna, as your entire team, excluding Aron, is weak to BoltBeam. With that being said, I plan to patch these weaknesses and some other minor weaknesses I didn't mention in this rate!

TEAM CHANGES

v1

- Protect > Roar is what I'd like to suggest. Aron's "utility" on this team isn't to Roar out threats, it's to cripple them with Endeavor. If you ever run into a Ghost-type, namely Mimikyu, of course you're going to Toxic it. Protect allows you to maximize damage against such Pokemon. You could make the argument that it's simply setup bait in Mimikyu's case, but you still have access to Skarmory who effortlessly walls it.

- Choice Scarf > CM allows Keldeo to revenge kill Kyurem-B (with a little prior damage) and Kartana (if it isn't scarf) specifically for this team, as well as Volcarona lacking Charti Berry. Keldeo becomes a solid cleaner in the lategame, heavily benefiting from any potential Endeavors that Aron lands. Look out for Scarf Kartana, though. Always try and scout for it by going Skarmory, which then allows you to Spike. 9 times out of 10, if the Kartana user attacked with Leaf Blade, it was a Scarfer intending to KO your Keldeo (assuming it knows you're Scarf).

>
- Clefable is being placed over Zapdos, because it isn't offering all too much for this team. Its double-defogging role in conjunction with Skarmory is redundant, as this is by no means a stall team. Clefable acts as a solid status sponge for Aron, tanking Will-o-Wisps for free. Clef also gives the team a much needed Dragon-immunity and can also carry the responsibility as a win condition.

>
- In this current metagame, a Dugtrio-less meta, Celesteela is a lot more preferable to Skarmory. It already was, but the banning of Arena Trap came with a drop of stall usage, and thus a drop of Skarmory usage. Celesteela provides a solid check to Tapu Lele and Psychic-types in general, while being able to Leech Seed, giving passive recovery for it and its teammates. You lose out on Spikes, unfortunately, but this comes with more average bulk and more of a solid offensive presence.

>
- Taking on a more offensive role, Latios is over Hippowdon to make up for the lack of a Defogger. While Aron isn't the most reliable Stealth Rocker, it'll have to do, though you could opt for Sandstorm > Stealth Rock on it and then Stealth Rock > Thunder Wave on Clefable. Latios can opt to run Psychium Z here to deal massive damage to mons like Clefable, Diancie-Mega, Manaphy, etc.

- I'd consider Adamant > Jolly Nature and Ice Fang > Waterfall. Waterfall really doesn't hit much for Sharpedo, and Ice Fang is valuable for targeting Garchomp, Tangrowth, Landorus-Therian, Zapdos, etc. Adamant Nature is put over Jolly because at +1, it already outspeeds everything in the meta that isn't boosted in Speed. It allows Sharpedo to hit as hard as possible, which is necessary to gain those solid hits on Toxapex, Keldeo, Mega Medicham and more.

v2

>
- Being completely honest, Aron is terrible. It poorly fulfills the role as a stallbreaker, as hazards, Ghost-types, Rocky Helmet, Knock Off, etc. ruin its day. You could make the argument that at least it dented a Pokemon in return for its life, but that's about as useful as Explosion. Aron just doesn't have enough utility to warrant a double-down, and if that's the argument to be made, you're practically playing with 5 Pokemon. Aron will barely ever cripple a Pokemon that threatens this team, because (assuming they're of a decent skill level) they'll acknowledge that x Pokemon has a favorable match-up and play accordingly. Heatran, with Magma Storm and Firium Z, acts as a solid stallbreaker. Magma Storm into Inferno Overdrive 2HKOs even SpDef Mega Sableye (unless you get 2 low rolls in a row), Magma Storm twice 2HKOs Unaware Clefable, and Taunt lets it cripple the likes of Toxapex, Chansey, etc.

- Choice Scarf > CM
allows Keldeo to revenge kill Kyurem-B (with a little prior damage) and Kartana (if it isn't scarf) specifically for this team, as well as Volcarona lacking Charti Berry.

- I'm going with a Roost + 3 Attacks set over this defensive Defog variant. This set heavily relies on picking off Pokemon that are weak to its coverage, and it benefits a lot from hitting things super effectively. With this in mind, Zapdos can now abuse Heatran's ability to weaken Pokemon and pick things off. Of course, Zapdos easily wears Pokemon down by damaging and Roosting as well, which Keldeo takes advantage of as well with its CM + Z-move set.

>
- Mew helps the match-up against Tapu Lele excellently. It can also Will-o-Wisp slower wallbreakers like Zygarde and follow up with an Ice Beam. To compensate for the loss of Defog from Zapdos and Skarmory, Mew can run it now. Most Psychic-types are walled by Mew due to its resistance and great natural 100/100/100 bulk.

>
- For this team, Mega Scizor is a lot more reliable as it patches up your Kyurem-Black weakness quite well. For the mostpart, KyuB doesn't opt for Earth Power & HP Fire on the same set, so you can scout and if it has EP, use Scizor as your check. If it has HP Fire and/or you've identified that it doesn't have Earth Power, use Heatran. Scizor acts as a bit of a sweeper as well with Swords Dance, as Mew already Defogs for you. The EV spread is courtesy of Smogon, and the explanation can be found here. This change makes the team a lot more slow-paced than before and makes you lose out on a bit of a Water-spam like core.

v1 rated team:
v2 rated team:

Hard to believe they both are variations of the same team, but hey! I hope you like the rate, let me know which version you prefer—the Aron version or the Aron-less version. They're both very different and both play very different, v1 being slightly more offensive and v2 being more defensive.
