BH Balanced Hackmons

Here I made the best pokemon. He's called registeel and he's really good.
registeel.gif

Registeel @ Wide Lens
Ability: Shield Dust
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Leech Seed
- Will-O-Wisp
- Stone Axe
- Spikes

Leech seed gives you healing and pressures your opponents to switch, which you punish by putting up hazards and blocking mortal spin.

You can dunk on a lot of stall teams/sets because they think salt cure + knock off + mortal spin + strength sap makes them god. Will-o-wisp probably puts in the least work of all the moves, but I didn't want to do something basic like salt cure. Also this is completely useless against magic guard / magic bounce.

I think imposter is more banworthy than the scholarly consensus gives it credit for.

1. revealing all your opponent's moves on switching in is very strong and can't be counteracted in any way
2. comfortably switching in and forcing a switch on 95% of offensive sets is crazy. if anything that wasn't imposter chansey could do that it would be banned. self-proof sets exist, but for one thing the need to be self-proof is limiting, and for another thing almost all of them stop being self-proof if they get hit by knock off, which is common and useful already
3. automatically creating speed ties sucks. I would want imposter gone for this alone even if it didn't have any extra bulk
4. infinite PP apparently isn't a reason to ban stuff given that leppa berry + recycle is legal, but I just don't care for it.

I'm aware of the concept of improofing, and I'm really good at it. But in-game, when imposter switches in, your options are (1) stay in, which only works if you're self-proof, or (2) switch, which is the most passive move in the game. From what I gather, the consensus is that these things are all true and imposter is busted, but it's OK because the meta would be out of control without it. I don't buy it. When was the last time hackmons existed without imposter? How do you know people wouldn't just adapt and be fine?

I feel like I have a lot of cachet on this website from posting a couple of terrible sets and not knowing how primordial sea works. I say ban imposter.

ragebait final boss, keep up the good work, im proud of you
I was actually 100% serious up until the last line, I just wanted to use the word "cachet" so I threw in a quick joke.

Is my Lugia set good?

Lugia (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Haze
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Recover
I think this is pretty good, prankster screens is a great idea if the rest of your team can take advantage of the reduced damage. Haze makes sense cause you don't want someone setting up while you're putting up screens. It's worth considering if snow warning + aurora veil is better for your team because it only takes 1 turn, but then you give up the prankster haze element.

The rest of my team is Hyper Offense, but it's mostly just some random BS I threw together because I thought it'd be fun. I never even thought about the fact that Prankter affects Haze, I just added it after I got completely shut down by a Shuckle using the move and realized "Oh wow that's actually a good idea."

Is it possible to calc with imposter chansey, or do you have to calculate all the stats yourself? For example if a chansey copied a plus one def boost holds an eviolite and has some sort of defensive ability, i do not see the option in the /calc.

U calc it like this on the right (+1 defenses = chan has evio still)

Any reason snorlax isn't used more as a defensive option? Elite special bulk + salvageable physical bulk + only 1 uncommon type weakness seems like a fine combination. Is the lack of resistances or physical bulk that big of a problem?
Snorlax definitely isn't without a niche, notably being REALLY slow as a pivot, but in general it's hard to compete with Chansey, Blissey or Mega Audino as a spdef normal.

For instance, if we're considering a regenerator set:
252 Atk Flame Plate Arceus-Fire Pyro Ball vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 295-348 (41.9 - 49.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Flame Plate Arceus-Fire Armor Cannon vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 114-135 (16.1 - 19.1%) -- possible 6HKO
252 Atk Flame Plate Arceus-Fire Pyro Ball vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Snorlax: 229-271 (43.7 - 51.7%) -- 10.9% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Flame Plate Arceus-Fire Armor Cannon vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Snorlax: 102-120 (19.4 - 22.9%) -- possible 5HKO
252 Atk Flame Plate Arceus-Fire Pyro Ball vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Snorlax: 210-247 (40 - 47.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

It's hard to consider using a Snorlax over a Chansey when Chansey's physical bulk is only marginally worse, and given its much higher special bulk it can always justify a +def nature, and won't be holding an AV and thus has a much better movepool.

For non-regen sets, Snorlax definitely does have a case, since it's much physically bulkier than Blissey and won't be as item-reliant as Chansey, as well as factoring species clause if you want to run Imp (although Imp Blissey with Boots, Lefties, Cloak is good enough that I wouldn't consider running non-imp Chansey to be a significant cost).

However, while Snorlax's attack might seem like an upside, it still really isn't much and the pure normal typing lets it down a lot, so Snorlax is very passive. If you compare to a similar mon in Ting-Lu, which admittedly has many more weaknesses but also incredible bulk, the attack stat is 110 in both cases, but having STAB on Knock Off and potentially a ground move turns you from being basically reliant on your move effects to do anything to actually hitting common targets for real damage. 110 Attack then is mostly a downside in reality, since it means you don't sapblock the special attackers you're walling.

Even Mega Audino finds itself less passive than Snorlax, since Moonblast is a great click even off 80 base Spatk, and while Audino gains weaknesses to Steel and Poison, the trade for Fighting neutrality and a handful of misc resistances is clearly favored, especially since the main Steel attackers are physical and will be exploding Snorlax anyway.
252 Atk Flame Plate Arceus-Fire Pyro Ball vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Audino-Mega: 150-177 (36.5 - 43.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Flame Plate Arceus-Fire Armor Cannon vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Audino-Mega: 136-162 (33.1 - 39.5%) -- 99.9% chance to 3HKO
252 Atk Flame Plate Arceus-Fire Pyro Ball vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Snorlax: 210-247 (40 - 47.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Flame Plate Arceus-Fire Armor Cannon vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Snorlax: 165-195 (31.4 - 37.2%) -- 82.2% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Flame Plate Arceus-Fire Armor Cannon vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Snorlax: 151-178 (28.8 - 33.9%) -- 1.2% chance to 3HKO
Snorlax isn't strictly outlcassed, but I'd call these calcs are generally unfavorable. So for non-regen sets like Fur Coat or Ice Scales, its tricky to justify a Snorlax over a Mega Audino.

I've reached the coveted 1600 ranking, a feat no other player has ever achieved. Here's the team I used. I call it "Perfect team".

890-0.png

Creature (Eternatus) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Dragon's Maw
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dragon Energy
- Final Gambit
- Volt Switch
- Trick

Use this to kill stuff or cripple with trick. +Speed nature lets you outspeed Regieleki and +2 neutral nature Groundon, which came up clutch a decent amount of the time for me. Choice scarf guarantees the 1v1 with imposter, though their dragon energy still chips you down to like 60% if they're eviolite. Scarf might be an uncommon choice, especially compared to specs Sceptile if you're trying to spam dragon energy, but I think outspeeding everything is important when you're reliant on keeping your HP up. Self-proof
646-1.png

Not Boomburst (Kyurem-White) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Refrigerate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst
- Trick
- Heal Bell
- Clanging Scales

The name is just there to deceive your opponent, you will actually be using boomburst 99% of the time. The team has no other status control because the Magic Guarders rarely need it and the walls don't care about status that much. But if you get hit with a bunch of paralysis (or a burn on Gyrados), a cheeky heal bell off the threat of boomburst can be clutch. Clanging scales can come in handy if you predict an imposter switch in. Improofed by Zacian
130-1.png

Megatron (Gyarados-Mega) @ Clear Amulet
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Jaw Lock
- Wave Crash
- Strength Sap
- Victory Dance

I stole this from someone I played against. I had been using an almost identical set, but it didn't have jaw lock so it could only force imposter to switch. Against imposter you jaw lock, strength sap enough to keep them at +0 (to make sure a crit doesn't kill you), and get yourself to +6/+6/+6 to try to sweep. I believe jaw lock is considered a primary effect and successfully traps covert cloak imposters, but I could be wrong. I did run into an imposter that could switch out, but I think it must have had shed shell. You set up on non sap-proof physical attackers, anything that relies on passive damage, or anything that relies on strength sap to stop set-up, which is a lot of stuff. Self-proof
493-0.png

Homeschooled (Arceus-Ghost) @ Spooky Plate
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Judgment
- Secret Sword
- Strength Sap
- Nasty Plot

Classic set. With magic guard you can ignore pretty much the entire regenvest arsenal (except for nuzzle, but I don't respect paralysis anyways). Knock off is supereffective against you, but I don't think I've ever played a sap-proof knock off user, so you can sap em and be good as new. +Speed nature jumps you above neutral nature arceus, eternatus, diancie, palkia, flutter mane, and probably some other stuff. Self-proof
383-1.png

Bowling Ball (Groudon-Primal) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Fur Coat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Impish Nature
- Bitter Blade
- Mortal Spin
- Earthquake
- Knock Off

The worst set on the team. Damage sponge against anything that doesn't have water type moves, bitter blade provides less-than-ideal recovery. Nice switch in against pixilate boomburst. If your opponent can't damage you, one of these moves is probably going to accomplish something. Automatically dies against strength sap + trapping move. Improofed by Arceus-Ghost, or just mortal spin + knock off imposter and it'll be crippled for whatever comes in next
888-0.png

Mrs. Unstoppable (Zacian) @ Leftovers
Ability: Ice Scales
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Spirit Break
- Recover
- Salt Cure

Easy-to-use wall, salt cure + knock off are for progress, spirit break chips and reduces incoming damage, leftovers lets you not need to use recover as often. Improofed by Arceus-Ghost

I've been hovering around 1600 after using this team for maybe a week. Here's some replays:

Maneuvering around normalize dragapult because I let arceus get too low: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9balancedhackmons-2614152002?p2

Opponent lost their answer to arceus: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9balancedhackmons-2613645455?p2

Swept by simple weakness policy stored power: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9balancedhackmons-2611572774?p2

Removed opponent's Gyrados answer but died to paralysis: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9balancedhackmons-2613425236-2xswa8c2yfhuj2jyy25l3xjgf6ttbpjpw

Opponent was a primarily stall team which is basically an auto win when you have 2 magic guards. Eternatus choice scarf paid off though: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9balancedhackmons-2612852935-1sufc9c70swv51ekdn17girxggry83xpw?p2

Team is weak to paralysis, offensive fairy spam since groudon gets worn down, and Simple setup. Great against imposter and stall.

You're welcome.

Update: Ran into this exact team on the ladder while trying a new team; I knew every set and I still barely pulled out the win. Granted my new team was probably very flawed, but still a great sign that this is a tough team to play against: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9balancedhackmons-2615069043?p2

I'm going to be honest with you, other people have hit 1600. Also, the team is kinda suspect at best. Most of the sets are iffy/fishy/bad. Recoveryless fur coat without any way to really be threatening to most of the game is kinda sad, and that zacian is hella passive. Also, that etern isn't actually self proofed and probably wants either a poison or steel move so it can threaten flutter/mdia. The etern is improofed by zacian, but the set on etern feels a bit iffy because you have no ways to deal damage with etern once it gets chipped, and your hazard control is a recoveryless pokemon that is both hit by spikes/tspikes, and isnt the hardest to spin block effectively.

This isn't true, they're all really good.

I think your points are pretty much accurate, but other than the mega-diancie/flutter mane thing they just haven't been hard to play around in my experience. Maybe my opponents have all sucked, but it's hard for most things to just sit around and set up hazards on this team. In maybe 100 games I don't think I've had multiple layers of spikes set up on me ever. Eternatus getting substantially chipped doesn't really happen, because you're usually going for a one-shot with dragon energy, a final gambit trade, tricking a defensive set, or fast pivoting. In theory I can see why chipping could be a problem, but I can remember Eternatus getting below 50% maybe once.

The groundon set does suck but it's ok.

Your opponents have definitely all sucked, there's multiple mons on your team that are easy to sit around on. Anything with Haze/TTurvy and any semblance of bulk can sit on MGyara and Spike, Zacian is super passive and do-nothing, so it's liable to get Spiked on as well.

Etern will also inevitably get chipped for other reasons, as you lack the damage output to consistently 2hko a lot of relevant pokemon (Regenvest Ting, Scales Arc formes, Regenvest Regi/Steela, even just Fire immunity Steels) and there are mons like Flutter and MDia that are immune to your big dumb STAB move, and therefore come in on you for free and threaten out Etern, which also racks up more chip damage from hazards.

As for the sets, a lot of them really are bad.

The MGyara falters into things like FC Fight/WetCeus, FC Zama, FC MAud(fake mon), etc, as they typically all pack Haze/TTurvy for setup control, and can also just bully you, whether its Fightceus/Zama clicking Fighting STABs(CTorque and TArrows are the ones to be afraid of), Wetceus going to +6 with TH and then killing you with TCage, or MAud sapblocking pretty effectively while spamming you down with Moonblasts.

The PDon set is so godawful because it just doesn't have any sustain, and as it's one of the team's only defensive options, that is not good. It also has zero setup control, which means it's liable to lose to any setup mon ever, which is also Not Good. Also, it is not really a good switch-in to MDia because of things like MDia running Surging on some sets for PDon/Ho-Oh, and the fact that PDon can switch in once on Specs Pixiburst before it ceases being a check, and with Zacian being capable of being pp stalled out of recover pp by mdia clicking boomburst, or just getting hit with like Mortal Spin/TSpikes and ceasing to be able to switch-in on MDia, or just taking minor chip and ceasing to be a check, that's not good.

The Ghosty set is fine, but personally I'd use Recover over SSap on that set, so you don't get sapblocked.

I like the idea of Heal Bell on Kyu-W, but idt that Kyu-W fits on your team, because its damage output is surprisingly middling with a Scarf, it stacks checks with Etern, who is entirely reliant on FGambit to remove checks, and Kyu-W compounds your teams hazard weakness.

The Zacian set in theory is good, but it really does not like the fact that it is setup fodder to every MG/Cloak mon ever, has zero setup control, and its teammates cannot handle a boosted sweeper. Also, it is liable to take minor chip and cease checking things.

i dont like the meta and i think pdon is at fault. we already had regenvests as soft spdefs that were "unexploitable" in that they could fight back against all efforts to whittle them down by gaining compensation in the forms of uturn momentum, axe, mortal etc. pdon feels like a physdef version of that, its obnoxiously strong between ground move/mortal/other shit so you get punished for letting it in, levi/desoland are both used, in general there are almost no physical attackers that can hope to reliably gain an advantage into it (the only one i can think of is ashgren). ive played with and against fc arc / pdon / regenvest / imp / 2 others a bunch and its just like how the fuck do you gain an advantage into this ever. i hate this shit. does anyone else feel the same way

I agree 100% with this post. https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9balancedhackmons-2614919874 here's an example game where I queue levi pdon into levi pdon and neither of us have safe plays around the other's pdon. I definitely had a worse MU because of not being cloak levidon (if I was, moldy pdon would instawin the game) and both teams are rather mediocre but every time one of these two came in after their cloak was knocked the amount of progress made was staggering. Exactly 0 pokemon feel safe switching into unscouted pdon because it could easily click, say, tc band stab and nuke them, or mortal non-th or cloaks, or knock, or get toxic debris like in OMPL vs ghastlypixie. Very ridiculous pokemon to play around with how much progress it can make for one bad callout compared to how much effort it takes to actually get pdon down.

first real home made bh team, tried to inposter proof everything.

Idk how to do these pictures,
but kyogre is supposed to suprise and actually be a physical sweeper should kill chansey with wood hammer if you win the speed tie other wise proofs ho oh.

Ho oh supposed to be a general wall that also hits decently hard with butter blade(maybe i will swap to sacred fire) and removes hazards.

The rocket proofs ho oh and sets up hazards.

Arceus proofs it and itself.

Zacian is a general special wall.
(Stole the set)
Etern is self proof and by zacian.
(Stole it too)

Big fan of the Kyogre set, unfortunately I think you would need to be at +4 attack to one shot imposter Chansey with eviolite. That's just how overpowered Chansey is.

(I set up the imposter chansey to have the same stats and typing as Kyogre) +4 252+ Atk Life Orb Kyogre-Primal Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Eviolite Chansey: 702-827 (99.7 - 117.4%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

Switching Arceus-Ghost to fur coat would improof kyogre while still being a very strong set I think.I am a fool...

Ho-Oh improofs the Kyogre, I gave them that idea in the OM room.

I don't think the team is that great since it suffers from a few issues. Your hazard game is better than the last one in the thread I rated, but it's still only on Ho-Oh, so it's liable to be blocked by a WBB steel, your Steela and Zacian are passive, and Etern's set just isnt great imo.

I think Airspace Sequencing made my frustrations clear but I'll take this chance to put them on paper. I really don't enjoy playing or building against pdon. It has so much physical pressure, that it just kind of collapses the physdef meta into ashield fc mons, with everything else relying on typing interactions + some immunity (and even those can be shaky!). Outside of these solutions, you're just kind of shafted as soon as you load into that one tv breaker don set that features that one move to break that specific solution you had, which leads to games feeling decided at move reveal far more often than they should.

I get that when teambuilding, this should be taken into consideration, but when ONE mon has such an insane set diversity, on top of it's already oppressive attack stat, and can end games just by "running the correct set", it kinda just flattens matches into "hope their groudon doesnt run x". That feels unhealthy to me.

I normally wouldn't make this post because there is a tournament ongoing but I felt the need to address concerns regarding Pdon.

PDON IS BALANCED.

Just know there exists certain GOOD sets that can easily deal with every set. I can't share the details right now but just trust me.

In due time (when I increase my persuasion skills or if I am the BH starter for the rizzlers) the community will surely be enlightened on ways to deal with pdon and NOBODY will want pdon banned.
