Introduction

Hello there! The team I made will be showcasing Nidoking! This monstrosity of a force is really powerful, and along with the help of his friends Nidoking is unstoppable. This mon is getting popular and I started seeing more so I decided to try it out. A fearsome wallbreaker and a forced to reckoned with. ( Note: Baragon is a fictional monster that is depicted as a four-legged, horned dinosaur-like creature with large ears. ---> Sponsored by Wikipedia ) Well I hope you guys enjoy!

Team Building Process

:nidoking:
I first started out with Nidoking. This mon started to get more popular and has been on several teams lately so I wanted to make a team out of it too. It is blessed with and incredible STAB combination amplified with it's item and ability, being a powerful special wallbreaker.

:nidoking: :dragapult:
In my opinion Dragapult is one of the most popular, most used mon in OU. It outspeeds pretty much everything in the tier by itself and is a premier wallbreaker. It also serves as a offensive pivot, the main role of this mon in my team.

:nidoking: :dragapult: :slowking:
This is the most reliable pivots and special walls in the metagame, with great typing, Regenerator, and special bulk. The specially defensive version of Slowbro and I like it very much. Slowking is very compatible with many mons and very easy to drop it in a random team and would still do great.

:nidoking: :dragapult: :slowking: :bisharp:
Bisharp has also been gaining popularity these days. It is a Fairy and Psychic immunity, making it perfect against mons like Tapu Lele and Tapu Fini. With a offensive build, this will be the mon following up Nidoking and Dragapult and finishing my opponents off.

:nidoking: :dragapult: :slowking: :bisharp: :ferrothorn:
A all rounder tank, this is by far one of the most tankiest mons I have ever seen. It slowly picks off Blissey, which is also very tanky and slowly wears down mons, just enough for others to deal the killing blow. With access to hazards, being able to siphon opponents' health while healing yourself, Ferrothorn is very hard to beat.

:nidoking: :dragapult: :slowking: :bisharp: :ferrothorn: :landorus-therian:
The last one that completes the team. It will be the defensive pivot of this team and take in Earthquakes for Bisharp and Nidoking. There isn't much to say about this since it is very basic.

The Team In Depth + Stats

:ss/nidoking: :life-orb:

Baragon (Nidoking) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Earth Power
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower

Nidoking here will be our main wallbreaker. With Life Orb and Sheer Force, it's attacks are doubled greatly and deal massive damage. Max investment in SpA and Spe, the common EVs spread. Modest over Timid because now Nidoking's moves will increase even more. Sludge Wave and Earth Power for STAB, and Thunderbolt to cover water like Slowking and Flamethrower to beat Ferrothorn and Scizor.

:ss/dragapult: :heavy-duty-boots:

Dragapult @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hex
- Draco Meteor
- U-turn
- Thunder Wave

Dragapult will be Nidoking's offensive pivot, providing it with opportunities to switch in safely. Heavy-Duty Boots so it won't be crippled by hazards and keeps the tempo. Timid nature to gain even more speed after the max Spe investment. Hex will be paired with Thunder Wave to do great damage and slow down opponents. Draco Meteor for STAB, and U-turn is self explanatory.

:ss/slowking: :heavy-duty-boots:

Slowking @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Future Sight
- Slack Off
- Teleport

This is our reliable pivot with Teleport and special wall, with max investment in SpD and a Sassy nature. Future Sight pressures opposing teams and works well with Slowking's teammates to increase their wallbreaking potential and force progress. Scald is a reliable STAB, being able to punish mons with burns if you're lucky. Regenerator doubles with Slack Off so that it is always able to maintain health.

:ss/bisharp: :choice-band:

Bisharp @ Choice Band
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Assurance

This is a Choice Band set for Bisharp, and it is very versatile. It will be the cleanup sweeper and finishing opponents. Defiant, Choice Band, Adamant Nature, and max investment in Atk makes it a incredible wallbreaker. With this around, mons will find it incredibly hard to switch in with STAB Knock Off waiting for them. Since Bisharp has relatively low speed Sucker Punch is a great revengekiller and getting the first hit. Iron Head is great since there is a chance for flinching, giving you a breather. I chose Assurance over Beat Up because I can pair this with hazards from Ferrothorn and Landorus-T, making it even harder for mons to switch in. The perfect setup for fast pivots like Zeraora and opposing Dragapult.

:ss/ferrothorn: :leftovers:

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Knock Off
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip

I simply love Ferrothorn. This set is specifically designed to tank heavy hits, and set up hazards and punish birds like Moltres who try to use Defog and get rid of the Spikes set up by Ferrothorn with Knock Off. The hazards are paired with Landorus-T Stealth Rock, so that when birdies don't have their boots anymore they get destroyed by the Stealth Rock, and grounded foes will be crushed by both Rocks and Spikes. Leech Seed will be its main form of recovery, backed up with Leftovers.

:ss/landorus-therian: :leftovers:

Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 164 Def / 92 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Toxic

Landorus-T is very versatile, and can be used in many ways. In this team, this will be the Earthquake immunity for Nidoking and Bisharp, and the Stealth Rock setter, pairing with Ferrothorn Spikes. Intimidate is to lower physical attackers' power, with Toxic slowing and taking them down slowly, and Toxic can also be used to cripple Slowking and opposing Landorus-T. U-turn is to keep momentum during a match and safely switch out against checks like Corviknight and Hippowdon.

Threatlist

Below are some mons I faced that were really annoying during climbing ladder. They can be played around but will need some prediction. This team has some weaknesses that mons can exploit so watch out for those.

:ss/magnezone:
Magnezone is really annoying. Especially the defensive kind, with Magnet Pull, it can drag out Bisharp and Ferrothorn, both key mons of the team. Then it can Substitute + Iron Defense + Body Press and it can 0HKO both mons. Bisharp can be choice locked, and will have very limited options. Ferrothorn cannot get past a Sub with just Power Whip, and Leftovers + Leech Seed is not enough. So basically what you get in the end are two piles of useless metal junk. Try to use Nidoking and use Earth Power/Flamethrower, or Landorus-T Earthquake.

:ss/dragapult:
Specs Dragapult literally wrecks my team, and such a threat. The extra boost from the Specs gives it a huge boost and will 0HKO mons with it's STAB moves. I don't have much to say about it, just that it's moves hit like a truck to my mons and a huge danger.

:ss/ferrothorn: :ss/skarmory:
Basically any mons that pretty much rely on hazards to win. Ferrothorn, Skarmory, etc. This team cannot get rid of hazards and only Dragapult and Slowking have Heavy-Duty Boots which can be rid of by Knock Off, so you should make sure to get rid of those as soon as possible. I have great success with Dragapult. With Thunder Wave + Hex, it is so good at just sweeping out mons. Thunder Wave pretty much makes opposing mons useless, so you can switch out and get some breathing space, the perfect strategy against hazard-dependent mons. You can also use Nidoking Flamethrower since most of the mons that depend on hazards can be rid by fire.

Mainly this team is weak to hazards. With no way to remove them, Nidoking, Bisharp, and Landorus-T will be heavily effected by them, and Heavy-Duty Boots on Dragapult and Slowking can be removed.

Well that is it for today, I hope you guys enjoyed this RMT and feel free to give me any suggestions! I am pretty confident of this team and can get you to a pretty good spot on the ladder if I do say so myself, but this will require some prediction with Nidoking, as resist moves can cost you. Hello! After a long hiatus- and I'm very sure nobody missed me- I have returned!

Assuming English isn't your first language, this was well written and the formatting was great! I enjoyed going through the building process of the team- however, I believe it incorporates several aspects that make it sub-optimal in some ways. Due to my hiatus, I'm also a bit rusty since the passing of the Zamazenta-C Suspect Test and meta reading hasn't exactly always been my thing, so I'll offer you what help I can when it comes to the team.

1. :Bisharp: :ChoiceBand: < :Bisharp: :BlackGlasses:

Bisharp is notable as a setup sweeper, a very prominent one in the meta at that. At the moment, your only checks to it are Bisharp and possibly Dragapult for a speed tie, so having it choice locked is an unfortunate circumstance for the team. Although this may be a very branding strategy for more niche situations, I do not believe Choice Band really works here, so go with the casual Black Glasses SD set instead, which offers more of the same help that CB Bisharp does.

2. :Dragapult: :Heavy-DutyBoots: < :Dragapult: :ChoiceSpecs:

Although Dragapult was a good pick, the choice in set is not optimal for the team. It seems when creating the team you came to a split in a HexPult / Balanced Offense, and didn't deviate between the two. As it stands, the team is definitely not suited for HexPult even when forming a synergy with a very slow core without recovery; try using the usual SpecsPult set to help yourself out, or redo the team entirely from the original point of deviation between HexPult and Balanced Offense.

3. :Dragonite:

Although seemingly insignificant, I believe that specific variations of this monstrous stall/setup sweeper completely destroy this team as well as Dragapult. The variant I am discussing is the Fire Punch, Ice Punch, EQ, DD set; once Dragonite sets up you have little-to-no answers outside of trying to status or stall it, making it in strong consideration as an addition for the team's list of threats.

Hopefully the help I could give was useful to the building of the team, if you have any other comments, questions, or concerns- I probably won't be the person you'd want to reach but give it a go.

:mehowth:

Nidoking is perhaps my favorite pokemon so seeing it get the love it deserves is awesome. Overall solid team with a good three offense three defense core. The lack of a way to deal with hazards isnt a huge deal seeing as you dont have any pokemon weak to hazards, but it should still be dealt with, as the last thing you want is someone successfully getting off a sticky web and not being able to remove it. I recommend removing toxic on landorus and slapping on defog. you'll have a harder time crippling other mons, but hazard removal is huge, and you could just use u-turn to get a teammate in for free. Another thing is personally i prefer ice beam over thunderbolt on nidoking. OHKO on landorus and garchomp switches is huge, and sludge wave already does a good job of chunking the slow twins. As for the threat list, specs dragapult is difficult to work around, so smart play and often even sacrificing mons may be necessary. Take advantage of the fact its choice locked to get in a mon who can take a hit. One thing that may help is running protect on ferrothorn. This may sound weird, but there's a legitimate strat there. If you drop power whip for protect, then it becomes more passive, but the combination of leech seed and leftovers with protect heals ferro for a lot. this can even be taken advantage of. If you see magnazone trying to switch in, leech seed on the switch, and take advantage by setting up as many layers of spikes as you can. With protect, you rack up leech seed damage, even if it subs up, making it easy to pick off later. For spec dragapult, if you use protect as it attacks, you can safely see which move it's locked into, and act accordingly. For example, if it attempts to fire blast, you can safely bring slowking. If it shadow balls, switch in bisharp, etc. It's something to think about. Also one final thing, while choice band is the item of choice (pun) for bisharp due to the absurd power and wallbreaking, another option could be something like assault vest for longevity against special attackers like the tapus and even specs dragapult. The power loss may be noticeable, but the chance to switch moves is huge since most players take advantage of sucker punch's drawback and low pp, and the surprise factor is huge for catching players off guard.

Hi! Thank you so much for the suggestion I will definitely testing them out. For Defog on Landorus-T I think that is a great idea. I had some trouble with hazards and hated my mons being worn down by them. For the Nidoking set I think either Ice Beam and Thunderbolt is fine and doesn't really matter. But I will be trying both out. Honestly for Power Whip, I wasn't sure about it since half the time I just miss, and doesn't do that well against mons. Protect makes it incredibly passive so Im leaning toward Gyro Ball right now but sure I will also try Protect if it means Specs Dragapult gets out of the way lol. And for the Bisharp I will be switching to glasses tysm for all the help you have given me!

hey welcome back! I used to see you a lot and its nice to see you back! thank you so much for the suggestions! for the Dragapult set I thought about the Specs set but I just thought it wouldn't work well with the team after it's choice locked, as if its locked U-turn wont be a option and will be useless. The hexpult set was amazing for me and I liked it a lot. With Thunder Wave+Hex it destroys opponents. But I will be trying out the changes. Once again tysm for your help!
