Hello! I'm a relatively new player here, and am still learning some of the meta. Anyway, I built a hyper-offense team, but it hasn't been working too well. I want to hear some opinions and suggestions on it. Thanks!
---------------------------------------
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off
- Body Press
- Leech Seed
Ferrothorn's main role here is to set up Stealth Rock and switch into certain physical threats. Ferrothorn is also here for type coverage with resistances, as Ferrothorn can cover Dragapult's Dark weakness with body press, and can use Knock Off vs. other Dragapult. If I need to play the stall game, Leech Seed helps me a lot. His versatility kind of makes him a staple on most teams in my eyes.
Zeraora @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Plasma Fists
- Volt Switch
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
Physical wallbreaker. Zeraora's immediate power and wide variety of coverage moves is what drew me to him. Volt switch can help me get out of some bad situations, and Knock Off is very good as with Zeraora's speed it can deal good damage to Dragapult. This Pokemon has done the best for me so far.
Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Draco Meteor
- Flash Cannon
- Flamethrower
Special Wallbreaker. With a Nasty Plot boost, Hydreigon can deal significant damage to enemies, and even without it. Flash Cannon and Flamethrower are great coverage options, however I feel like Draco Meteor is too inconsistent because of its accuracy and the fact that it lowers your sp. atk a lot. I'm not sure if i should stick to Draco Meteor or switch to Dragon Pulse. Also, I feel like having two dragon types is too much because I can get destroyed by fairy types easily.
Primarina @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 40 SpA / 44 SpD / 176 Spe
Calm Nature
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Moonblast
A Special sweeper. Honestly, I've found Primarina to be a little underwhelming, as her speed just doesn't cut it for me (I feel like I'm just doing something wrong though). I can't find many good opportunities to set up with Substitute + Calm Mind, as my sub usually ends up broken in one turn. I can see Primarina's potential, however I'm wondering if i should replace her with another water type (it's not very easy as without Primarina my team is a bit vulnerable to Fighting types).
Dragapult @ Life Orb
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Darts
- Steel Wing
- Fire Blast
Physical sweeper. With a Dragon Dance boost, Dragapult feels very strong as it outspeeds basically everything, and unlike Hydreigon, I don't have to worry about Draco Meteor lowering any stats as Dragon Darts is my main physical stab move. Steel wing is good coverage, but Fire Blast feels a bit bad to use because of its terrible accuracy. I can see the potential with this physical Dragapult set, but I think it may just be me not bringing the most out of my Pokemon.
Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance
- Rapid Spin
Supportive Pokemon. His main role here is to get rid of entry hazards with Rapid Spin, as well as be some sort of emergency sweeper in case things go bad with the rest of my team. He also provides me with some needed coverage against Fairy types, which both of my Dragons are weak to. However, it feels like because of his speed, he falls flat as a physical attacker. If his main role is to simply get rid of entry hazards then I feel like a different Pokemon can do a better job.
