Brandon watched as Celeste got the action going quickly with a massive Hydro Pump, but found it odd when she hit the ground in front of her. "What is she doing?" he thought to himself as the force made her fly through the air, but then he realized the plan when she landed in the spring and went straight to the bottom, about 5 feet down. Sure enough, when Marlboro went for a Sleep Powder not long after, the spores landed harmlessly on the top of the water! "Smart move by Terrador there," Brandon said to himself. While the Staryu remained at the bottom of the spring, Marlboro followed his trainer's orders and fired another Sleep Powder, which still had no effect. However, Brandon noticed that the Leech Seed continued to sap away Celeste's energy and return it to Marlboro. "That could end up making the difference between a win and a loss," Brandon mused as the match continued.

Seeing that the coast was clear, Celeste finally jumped out of the water, and fired an Ice Beam directly at Marlboro! The Tangela took the hit and just chilled, hoping to regain some energy to begin the assault anew next round. Brandon took a minute to check the Pokemon and how they were doing while the trainers prepared for the next round.

At least she managed to avoid falling asleep though, and she's still close enough to the water that she can get back in if she needs to. Still, this is definitely an uphill battle for her. Let's see what Terrador does!"

Terrador was displeased by the fact that Tangela was getting so much HP back, and didn't dare allow it to put Celeste to sleep. He had an idea...

"All right, Celeste, I want you to start by Rapid Spinning down into the spring. This should knock off that Leech Seed as you dive. For your next action, I want you to resurface and use Ice Beam, then Ice Beam again. However, if he ever tries to Sleep Powder, stay in the spring!
 
"So... that's how you want to play? Malboro, use Solarbeam as he's spinning in the spring. Follow his first Ice Beam with a renewal of Leech Seed as he pops out of the spring, then prevent his second with a threatening Sleep Powder. We can out-stall this starfish any day."

As Brandon watched and Shockstrike slept, Celeste decided that she had finally had enough of her Leech Seeds. Using Rapin Spin, she managed to dislodge the seeds while again finding herself safe at the bottom of the creek. Marlboro merely waited, and Brandon started to wonder if it was chilling, but he soon saw the energy gathering, and realized what he was doing. Sure enough, Marlboro summoned a massive SolarBeam from the sky, hitting Celeste hard despite her being in the water! The move was so flashy it even woke Shockstrike up!

Celeste quickly changed tactics and went back on the offensive, springing out of the water to hit the Tangela with an Ice Beam! Marlboro took advantage, however, and shot out another Leech Seed, catching the Staryu before she could get back in the water! "That Leech Seed could make the difference here," Brandon thought as he petted Shockstrike, who cooed appreciatively.

Celeste prepared another Ice Beam, but after realizing that Marlboro was preparing another Sleep Powder she quickly changed her mind and dove back under the water! Marlboro completed his attack, the spores yet again falling harmlessly onto the water and dissipating. As Shockstrike fell back asleep, Brandon checked on the Pokemon.

Terrador is going to have to play carefully and make every move count if he wants Celeste to pull this off."

"Just Solarbeam it, Tangela. It should undoubtedly take it out. But if for some reason the starfish survives through some pointless shenanigans, Giga Drain, followed by Chill."

Both Pokemon could barely stand, but they continued to fight. Celeste started off, desperately firing off another Ice Beam at Marlboro, hoping to finish it off. Marlboro teetered, but barely stayed standing, and after receiving a bit more health from Leech Seed fired off another massive SolarBeam, KOing Celeste once and for all. Shockstrike, annoyed at being woken up yet again, retreated to his Pokeball to continue his sleep, leaving Brandon without a companion yet again. Brandon decided to check just how close that was while Terrador called Celeste back.

"Marlboro has done a great job, but it looks like he can barely stand. This is going to come down to the last two Pokemon for sure." Turning towards the trainers, he said, "Ok, Terrador you need to send out your final Pokemon and give its orders! We're almost done, let's finish this right!"

Terrador didn't like the look of this - Tangela's immensely poweful Grass attacks would leave Caesar in bad shape for the next round. Regardless, he knew that he had to send him out there and take the Grass-type on.

"All right, Caesar, I choose you! I want you to use Stone Edge until Tangela goes down, all right?"
 
"Giga Drain, if you survive after that, try to use some more of your Sleep Powder. Finally, if you are somehow still conscious, Chill out."

Terrador sent out his final Pokemon, a Larvitar named Caesar! Marlboro saw it as fresh blood, and desperate to stay alive hit it with a Giga Drain! Caesar, extremely weak to grass-type attacks, took massive damage, and suddenly Marlboro looked a lot healthier! Caesar didn't take it lying down, however, and retaliated with a Stone Edge! Marlboro barely kept himself up, but he somehow did! Before Caesar could react, he released a Sleep Powder in the air, and the attack connected, sending Caesar into a deep sleep! As Caesar slept through both this action and the next, Marlboro took the time to chill and regain some much-needed energy! Brandon marveled at the fact that the Tangela was somehow still standing, and decided to see just how much it had left in the tank, as well as just how much damage it managed to do with that Giga Drain.

Brandon watched as Marlboro fired off another Giga Drain, dealing massive damage and restoring more health to itself. But would it be enough? Caesar woke up and nailed Marlboro with a Stone Edge, hoping to knock it out but it stayed standing! Frustrated, Caesar hit the Tangela with another Stone Edge as it chilled, knocking it down! For a second it looked like it was knocked out, but it slowly pushed itself up! Refusing to go down, Marlboro fired a Leech Seed at Caesar, but then Caesar finally took it down with a decisive Stone Edge! The damage was done, however: at a massive health disadvantage and seeded, Caesar would need some massive heroics to bring down his final opponent.

Snorunt, exiting the pokeball, leaves a trail of frozen, crystalline water droplets in the air. This gives its graceful motions a haunting, yet beautiful appearance.
 
"Black Swan, finish this. Ice Beam, followed by Protect. Finishing with another Ice Beam. Freeze him in his tracks..."

Laharl chuckles.
"Always the dramatic one, aren't you, Lenneth?"

Lenneth took over, sending out a Snorunt, Black Swan! She wasted no time, firing off a powerful Ice Beam at Caesar! Caesar was knocked down, but barely managed to get back up and shake the ground with a massive Earthquake! However, the Leech Seed from Marlboro continued to haunt Caesar, sapping his energy and sending it to Black Swan! Caesar again fell to one knee, but barely managed to stand. Grabbing a sharp rock, he tried one last time to hit with Stone Edge, but Black Swan used Protect! Again the seeds struck, and this time, despite his best efforts, Caesar could no longer stand. He fell, and with that the match was over! Terrador recalled his Larvitar, thanking it for its hard work despite a huge disadvantage, while Lenneth and Laharl smirked, recalling their Snorunt. Brandon thanked both trainers and congratulated the winners, then they all left the spring.
