Scenario: Mystery Jungle

Pokemon #1: Dotted the Drednaw
Pokemon Ability: Strong Jaw
Pokemon Attitude: Fascinated by new experiences, but rusty at battling.
Pokemon Background: After brutally injuring herself one too many times by tripping over a blade of grass, Dotted was mostly retired from battling. She has spent much of her time recently reading anything she could get her jaw on, especially nonfiction, and knows lots about biology, ecosystems, navigation, and much more!

In this distant, jungle-covered land, there is a legend from long ago. An ancient civilization, Zalas, once dominated this land. Proud and mighty, they were a truly terrifying empire, said to have such exceedingly great power that they could rend the land asunder. Alas, the predisposition of Zalas was to conquer, exploit, and enslave all upon the land, human and Pokemon alike. Of course, no empire can escape the grip of rust and decay forever, and this empire was no different. It is said that in one tumultuous day, the empire was swallowed up into the earth, seemingly a victim of their own power and success. One would expect to find many records and artifacts from this great empire, but apart from some coinage and a few scant artifacts, very little remains. Even their language is unknown to the scholars of this day. Surely, a generous reward would be paid to anyone who could find more relics of this lost empire, especially if it led to unraveling the secrets of their language.

One day, during your own travels, you came upon a map, leading to a long forgotten destination. Upon commencing your own research, you found that this map points out the location of Ixzanam, the capital of ancient Zalas. Intrigued, you took your long, arduous journey towards this ruined place. You went to the closest village to the jungles of Zalas, and made your preparations for your journey thereunto. Before you depart however, a man in the village cautions you against going into the jungle, warning of the "song of the ancients" that rends the very ground asunder. Whether or not you believe his warning, you take your journey into the jungle.

At first, the journey appears to be uneventful. Well, as uneventful as journeying through a thick jungle can be at any rate. The jungle is thick with vines and foliage that proves to be hassle in your journey. Still, the path is not without it's sights, you even manage to spot a Toucannon in the wood. Suddenly, a piercing roar emanates from the depths of the jungle, the birds flying away as fast as they can. You then hear an insanely loud sound, as if an explosion went off in your general vicinity. The ground starts shaking violently underneath your feet. You throw your Pokemon to safety just before a giant sinkhole erupts underneath your feet, and you fall in.

How will your Pokemon save you from a fall that threatens to end your journey before it even begins?

*sigh* "Dotted, you see that really tall tree right next to us?"
"Uh...yes?"
"I'll cut it down and push the tree into the hole. It's tall enough that Mowtom can just grab on and climb her way back up. Problem solved."
"Oh! And then she doesn't have to climb all the way back up on her own! I can just bite down really really hard and pull the tree back up with her clinging to its branches!"
Virion's Cut, then Dotted's Strong Jaw-boosted Jaw Lock
 
Thinking quickly, Mowtom manages to grab onto a very small ledge on the outskirts of the newly opened pit. However, it is clear that the ledge is unstable, and she tries to figure out a way out of this mess. While thinking, she hears a loud buzzing sound from the bottom of the hole, sounding like the buzzing of a horde of insects. Virion uses their experience in forestry to find a suitable tree, and cut it down. Suddenly, the ledge gives way, and in a moment all seems lost. However, in one last flailing she managed to grab hold of a tree. Dotted's strong jaw manages to hold the tree in place, and they pull up Mowtom, who is grateful to be in one piece.

The three sit for a little while outside the pit, trying to calm down from what just happened. Their peace is soon disturbed by another deafening roar. The three look around, and Dotted seems to spot a flash of red before it fades from view. Virion sees a flash of black, before defending Mowtom from the attack of a vicious Arcanine. The three of you look at each other; is this the being that made the first roar? As if your situation was not dangerous enough, the buzzing sound from before gets louder, and you see an incensed Vespiquen floating out of the sinkhole. The two Pokemon turn to face you, though it seems for the time being Vespiquen is gathering her insect allies for an assault upon your position, while the Arcanine goes for the initial attack.

It would seem this jungle is more hostile than you realized.

Despite your Pokemon's best efforts, the Assailants prove to be too strong and overpower them. Fortunately, you thought ahead, and Dotted has already cleared a path for your quick getaway. It's been a while since you and your pokemon have taken a vacation to the Ransei region, and you hope that this one will be nice and relaxing. After arriving in the Yaksha kingdom, you and your pokemon spend some time on some sightseeing before venturing north - you've heard that the Cragspur kingdom contains some absolutely beautiful mountains and canyons you want to spend your time looking at. Before long, however, you notice a problem - there seems to be some smoke rising from the Cragspur region up ahead of you! Normally that region doesn't have much that burns or very many pokemon that could start a fire like that, so you start rushing forward to see what the issue is.

On the way, however, your stomach starts to growl. Checking your pack, it looks like you've ran out of food! You didn't plan on investigating something like this today, and so you spent a lot of time travelling and forgot to replenish your supplies. Fortunately, you're not that far from the river separating Yaksha from Cragspur, which you know is filled with lots of fish. Now you just need to figure out how to catch them...

"Oh no, I'm entirely out of supplies! I guess it could be worse, there is a river over there that probably has some fish in it. Do you two want any?"
"Of course, and some for my baby too."
"Yeah! I need to keep my energy up!"
"Great. So here's the plan..."

Both will repeatedly use Shock Wave to kill several fish without any chance of the fish evading, then once we pull the fish out of the water both will use Flamethrower to cook them.
 
As your pokemon zap the fish to kill them, they start floating to the top of the river. While you grab the fish from the river, Klepht and Nilgai are setting up a fire to cook the fish on. Once you've cooked the fish, all three of you eat and, satisfied, continue on your journey.

Success! +2 TC

Continuing along the trail, you see pokemon running away from the smoke. It seems like the issue is bigger than you expected. Suddenly, Warlord Kai blocks the path you were headed towards at a fork in the road.


"Excuse me, this area is off limits right now. The Warlord is having some issues with a minor electrical fire and it would be dealt with momentarily. In the meantime, please feel free to explore some of the beautiful scenery down that way."

You get the impression that she is trying to help cover something up. When you question her story, she gets defensive and immediately looks to her pokemon to try to get you to stop asking questions.
