The year is 30XX. Tired of spending your time in matches where the first player to successfully hit Fox's laser (the only move competititvely allowed on the only character in the game) is declared the winner, you decided to try your luck into space, as far as possible from the nearest game console.
That's how you and some of your Pokémon found your way on the GLM Eriksson, a scientific ship headed for the Virgo Constellation to study the energetic properties of PSR B1257+12, the local neutron star. You're not alone in this endeavor: the massive science ship crews hundreds of people including scientists. You get to live in relatively correct, if somewhat modest by old Earth standards, conditions. At least you get a pod for yourself and your Pokémon. You really don't want to interact too much with other humans right now. Your job is simply to make sure everything goes well during the second half of the trip, since the first half is spent in cryostasis, and maybe to take in the sights.
But of course, it wouldn't be so easy.
As you were resting in your cabin, a small control panel flares red. Something's weird, and it's affecting the entire area you're in... but what? You can't see anything different, there's no mechanical noise indicating an impact or anything. No people screaming their head off, but as you pop your head into the hallway, you're starting to feel it.
It's hot.
Far too hot for normal. The air temperature rises rapidly, reaching 320K in record time.
This is bad: the human body is not made to support such a temperature, and your abundant sweat does little to dissipate your internal heat.
Your body is screaming, and you're not alone is that case: people are coming out of their rooms, in pain. Some desperately rip off their clothes, not that it does much to alleviate their body machinery being victim of its own energy.
And the temperature is still rising. You're going to get steamed at this rate!
nightblitz42 how will you cool yourself down?
