Well i am fairly new here so i went and had a look at the tutoring section and by the looks of things it seems like it's pretty difficult to get into. my suggestion is that newcomers could be matched with other newcomers if they do not get into the program, i know that having someone to discuss with frequently would benefit me.

if something like this already exists or if there is a thread like this i aplogize.:toast:

You could just go on shoddybattle, find some newbs, and start discussing, set-up a time and discuss frequently

If you're looking for a lot of active discussion, getting mIRC and going on #stark could be for you. There are a lot of very experienced players there so most people know what they're talking about.

I really don't see the point in this proposal. The main idea of the Battling 101 program is for inexperienced players to become better at the game through the teachings of much more experienced players. You're not going to get much out of being paired up with someone who is as inexperienced as you. Besides, if you don't end up getting a tutor for a certain round, you'll be reserved a spot for the next round.

I decided to forego Battling 101 because it seemed hard to get into, or painful to wait for. In any matter I would agree that having a fellow noob to talk with works wonders, having a school friend be my rival has been one of the main reason I've been learning and trying to get better instead of giving up or still using noobish teams. Then again this is something that would have to be done by an individual rather than the site, but I think new players reading this could really benefit by having a rival.

Yeah, i thought it would be dificult to get into the tutee program, but oh well im making my try to get in :) hopefully ill manage to get a tutor.

It's not "if you can get a tutor", it's "when you can get one". If you have the requirements (15 posts in 10 days), and you sign up, you WILL get a tutor eventually. They go down the list, and when it's your turn, you get a tutor. Not harder than that.

It's really not hard to find people to talk Pokemon with, that's kind of what this site actually is. The Battling 101 staff have enough on their plates already - arbitrarily pointing new players towards other new players isn't going to happen. Here's a good way to find people to talk to if you really need the help: you know who's new based on who has actually signed up to be tutored.
