Hey guys my name is GET'EM. I'm here with my 3rd RMT. ORAS recently came out, so I wanted to make a based around a new mega pokemon. One that caught my eye was Mega Lopunny. There are so many sets that it could run, so that allows me to play around with mega Lopunny more. Later on, I decided to use Talonflame as her partner in crime. I found out that these two have some good synergy with each other. With some other support mons, I think that this team is pretty good. After building the team, I ended up with a bulky offense team instead of a hyper offense. I'm really hoping that I could get some good advice and rates for this team and I also hope that people will be using this team as well. Now, lets get onto the team ^^.
Team building process~
My first pokemon was mega Lopunny. It became one of my favorite mega's from ORAS, so I had to try her out.
The second pokemon that i chose was SD Talonflame. Healing wish Lopunny provides good synergy to Talonflame as it helps him to sweep easier.
Rotom-W was my third choice. He is a really good mon to use in ORAS because of the amount of physical mega pokes showing up. He's the glue of my team.
I wanted a SR setter and a poke that can stop mega Latias. Ferrothorn was the mon that came up in my mind, so he became my 4th team member.
I wanted a revenge killer since Charizard X and Greninja give's me some hard times. Landorus-T is the best scarfer in the tier, so I had to choose him.
The last thing I needed was a defogger. It was between the Lati@s twins, but I chose latios over latias because it bring's more offensive power.
Team at a Glance~
Team in-depth~
Lopunny @ Lopunnite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Return
-High Jump Kick
-Ice punch
-Healing Wish
Here we have the mascot of this team: Mega Lopunny. This thing is insane, yet so beautiful. It has insane speed, unresisted coverage thanks too scrappy, decent bulk, and a plethora of moves. First off, she is my first emergency check to mega Sableye and greninja. Thanks to scrappy, Sableye will never be switching on this beast as High jump kick has a chance to OHKO bold 252 Hp / 252 def Sableye after rocks. Also, greninja is freaking godly in ORAS, even he will have to worry about lopunny OHKO him with HJK. Jolly nature is preferred over adamant nature since outspeeding greninja is HUGE and also speed ties Megaman. Mega Lopunny should be used as a Hit and run poke or a support mon. Her low 136 Attack doesn't cut it since we have other mega's such as Gallade is has way more attack and is better at Wallbreaking/Sweeping. That's why I have healing wish here. This move allow's my Talonflame to have a second chance to late game clean. It is really useful in certain situation such as if my talonflame is paralyzed by the oh-so common Thundurus-I. Ice punch stop's Landorus-T from switching in to often as it fears from getting hit. To be honest here, Ice punch could be replaced for substitute since Ice punch is only for Landorus-T and Return+HJK still hit's harder in general. Substitute would be good for mew to prevent him from W-o-W and knock off.
Talonflame @ Sharp beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 88 Hp / 252 Atk / 168 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Flare Blitz
-Brave Bird
-Sword dance
-Roost
And now we are at the second member of the team,Talonflame. Alright so I wanted a second check to mega sableye because it's such huge threat in ORAS. While it may a little overhyped, it's a still threatening mon. Also, my team doesn't have any good wallbreakers. Talonflame also stops, Mega gallade, Mega heracross, Mega gardevoir, mega Lopunny, mega sceptile, mega beedrill and so forth. Talonflame is still a reliable revenge killer in this meta, even if he is still losing his early XY usage. I believe that SD Talonflame is his best set right now as it beats most of his "checks". Scarf magnezone and Thundurus won't like to switch into Talonflame since I run 168 EVs in speed to outspeed them. I try not to be to careless with Talonflame because he is my late-game cleaner and I need him to stay healthy. Thanks of me not being Choice banded, this allows Talonflame to nail Mega metagross and Mega scizor with a +2 flare blitz. Healing wish Mega Lopunny + SD Talonflame is a nice core that I made for this team. As I said before, healing wish allows Talonflame to have a second chance to sweep. Also, they beat most of there common checks/counters (excluding mega slowbro). Dual STABS are self-explanatory as they are the strongest one's for Talonflame. Sharp beak is the item used since I don't want to use life orb because the recoil damage will be stacking up WAY to much, and sharp beak already helps increase the power of his spammable Brave bird. Roost is very useful in helping Talonflame sweep. With all of the recoil that it takes from his two STABS, that is where roost shines best at. Also it has Gale wings, which allows roost to have a priority. To end it off, he is my late game cleaner. Now that I got through my core members, it's time to get to the team players...
Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 Hp / 216 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
-Will-o-Wisp
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
-Pain Split/Hidden power Ice
Whenever I build teams, I try to add two wall cores who can check a portion of the meta. Here we have glue of the team. Need a check to Mega Mence? Scarf Landorus-T bothering you? Azumarill or Mamoswine? Rotom-W checks a whole bunch of news mons now that aint even funny. The main thing here is that it could check Mega Mence. This is huge since Mega Mence is the best pokemon in the tier right now and should be banned in around 2 weeks. Rotom-W also performs a little Volt-turn core with Landorus-T which is nice. Another playstyle that is rising up is Rain offence. Mega swampert is a monster in the rain and without Rotom-W, I would easily get swept (swampert runs low kick/superpower so ferrothorn is not really reliable). Rotom-W is also my check to Birdspam. It is still a popular playstyle. Since Landorus-T is not a physically defensive variant, Talonflame+mega pinsir will have a way around it. So, that's where rotom-W comes into play and can easily wall both of them. Rotom-W is also my go-to mon if there is a heatran on the field. The Sp.def variant could be pretty annoying, but it shouldn't be too hard for the rest of my team. I also like to point out that Landorus+Rotom-W+Lopunny is a really nice core as it allows mega Lopunny to switch in easier, since it doesn't have the best bulk around. It applies a lot of offensive pressure to the opposing opponent. Will-o-Wisp is pretty spammable now because of it's 10% increase in accuracy. Physical mega's have to think twice if they thought they had a free switch in. Dual STABS are mandatory as volt switch allows Rotom-W to be a good pivot, and Hydro pump is his best STAB move. The last move slot is up to you. Pain split will be his only reliable recovery as leftovers is not enough. Hidden power ice is only for Mega Mence as most of them run enough bulk to stop Rotom-W's volt switch from breaking their sub. After Mega Mence is banned( which will happen), Pain split will be the preferred option. Time to show the other wall core member.
Ferrothorn @ Shed Shell
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Hp / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Relaxed Nature
-Power Whip
-Gyro Ball
-Leech Seed
-Stealth Rocks
I'm going to say this right now, every good team needs a stealth rock setter. Stealth rocks is probably the most useful move to have as almost every team out there has a rock setter. Now here we have Ferrothorn. He is my second wall core for Rotom-W+Ferrothorn. Rain offence will not be doing to much to my team as I have two things that basically walls all the rain sweepers. Ferrothorn is a very important member because he checks Stored power Mega Latias. Before I made this team, I had another one that was a stall-oriented team. Little did I know Mega Latias destroyed my whole team. Now, I play very cautiosly around it as I don't want to get swept by it again. Ferrothorn is also one of my checks to non-HP fire Greninja. Low kick Greninja will stop ferrothorn in it's tracks, but you hardly see low kick on Greninja. Ferrothorn also stops Mega Metagross that lacks hammer arm. As long as I keep ferrothorn and Landorus-T alive, that thing won't be sweeping any time soon. I also wanted to point out that it is my go-to mon for Mega Altaria that lacks fire blast. The most common set is the physically defensive set that has Earthquake+Return. Ferrothorn can easily take on these STAB move's and proceed to leech seed away. Rotom-W has been increasing in usage a lot lately. It's pretty obvious why he is increasing in usage, so I needed a reliable check to it. I like to play around it with Ferrothorn+Latios as it can't touch either of them.
Ferrothorn is a pretty nice check to Sand offence aswell. Even though it's decreasing in popularity, doesn't mean that I shouldn't be prepared for it anyways. The EVs are pretty much the standard EVs you see on a ferrothorn. Shed shell is such a good item to use now. Magnezone's usage is increasing very fast and for good reason. It traps steel types so other mons could sweep. Shed shell let's ferrothorn escape from Magnezone which is huge. I'm running Power Whip and Gyro Ball because I wanted someone who could reliably hit Mega Swampert and Rotom-W with a super effective move. Also, Gyro Ball is nice for all the new fast Mega's. Leech seed is mandatory for getting some recovery back and forces other poke's to switch. This allows ferrothorn to set up Stealth rocks much easier than before.
Landorus-T @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Knock off
-U-turn
Every time I build a team, I make it mandatory to bring a electric immunity mon to the team. One that stood out the most was Landorus-T. He's an important mon because he stop's pokes from Volt switching all the time. Everybody can agree that Landorus-T is the best choice scarfer in OU, and almost everybody uses it on their offensive team. A major thing that it could do is check Thundurus-I. Latios wasn't good at it because Thundurus could straight up paralyze Latios, and since Landorus-T is immune to electric, it doesn't have to worry about Thundurus using thunder wave, and proceed to OHKO which stone edge. It's also a good check to Charizard X and greninja. Since it runs a jolly nature, It outspeeds +1 adamant Charizard X and Greninja and easily OHKO charizard with Earthquake, and U-turn for Greninja. Another thing, Landorus-T can revenge kill Mega Gallade with prior damage. Most Gallade use Knock off over ice punch, so that allows Landorus-T to come in a lot easier. Before you do that, be sure to scout what set Mega Gallade is using before switching into Landorus-T. You don't want to lose landorus-T too quickly. Landorus-T provides a good volt-turn combo with Rotom. Both pokes allows Mega Lopunny to get a free switch in if it likes. Landorus-T is also a decent check to bird spam as it could OHKO both Talonflame and Mega Pinsir, but Rotom-W is a lot better at doing this job. It's pretty annoying that bisharp has defiant as his ability because of the attack drop, he will be at +1, but can still do a lot of damage to Landorus-T. Landorus-T is my second check to Mega Metagross as well. Pre-mega metagross can block the attack drop, but after it mega's, it won't be able to block it anymore. 252 Atk / 24 Def / 232 Spe could be another EV spread that you could use, but I prefer max speed and attack. Earthquake is his main STAB move as it his strongest move to use against neutral pokes. Stone edge makes the EdgeQuake combo which is really useful for flying pokes and etc. Knock off is used over superpower since I don't really see myself in using superpower. Knock off is pretty useful against stall in which my team is weak to. Also, it hit's gengar which is pretty important. U-turn is his most spammable move. Always use U-turn to grab some momentum and avoid some obvious switch in's such as Rotom-W.
Latios @ Life orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Hp / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
-Draco Meteor
-Psyshock
-Thunderbolt
-Defog
The last key thing that I needed was someone who could get rid of hazards. There were only two pokes that could easily fit into the team, Lati@s twins. To be honest, it was a pretty tough choice to pick between these two, but I decided to go with Latios because he gives a lot more offensive power than latias. So, here is my last member, Latios. Latios is my check to Keldeo. He can come in and OHKO Keldeo with Psyshock. A thing you have to watch is is Scarfed Keldeo. Use rotom-W to scout which set is keldeo running. With his nice dual typing, he is also my main Fire resist, so he can come on a fire blast or flamethrower, and fire off some draco's back. Also, Latias is pretty much outclassed by Mega latias as it is much more bulky and has more power. Latias just seems too underwhelming to be used over Latios. Like latios could even nail some steel types hard that Latias wishes that she could do. Latios is also my check to Charizard Y. Even though it's pretty non-existence right now, one could come up and surprise me with a sun boosted Fire blast. I have to watch out for Bisharp and Tyranitar as they could easily come in and pursuit trap Latios. That's why you should predict the incoming Bisharp/Tyranitar, and switch into Landorus-T which can handle both. Since I have Latios, I don't need to bring in Talonflame too often on a mega Venusaur. This is huge since Talonflame won't be needing to take some sludge bombs to the face, and have some Hp to sweep later on. Though Life orb doesn't have as much power as Choice specs, Draco meteor is still powerful as hell. Even resisted pokes have to watch out for dracos. Life orb also allows me to switch up my moves for other pokemons. Psyshock is there to provide good coverage with Draco meteor. The reason I have thunderbolt here over roost or recover, is that I find myself being a tad weak to skarmory and SpD Gyarados. Of course Rotom-W could check both, but it has to use volt switch in which I have to force myself in switching to something else who may not like these pokes. Defog is the most important move. It get's rid of the hazards which allows my team mates to come in without taking any prior damage.
Conclusion~
Well, there you have. This is my team based around Mega Lopunny and Talonflame. I worked pretty hard on this RMT since I wanted to showcase the team that I made. I want other people to give this team a try and see how it goes. I'll leave an importable down below so you guys could use this team as well. Please let me know any good advice on what too do about this team. Most suggestions should be noticed. Anyways, I hope you like this RMT. Peace. :]
Threat List~
Bisharp is a huge threat to play around with. At +2, it's basically gg since no one can take a hit from a +2 suckerpunch/Knock off. I have to bait the switch in with Latios, and then switch into Landorus-T, so I can scare it off.
Clefable is another threat. It's not as big of a threat compared to bisharp, but it's still pretty annoying to play against. If the set is CM Magic guard with stored power, Talonflame won't be able to take a hit. I have to wear it down with Talonflame+ Landorus-T.
Mew will be annoying as well, but if you run Substitute over Ice Punch, It's not that big of a problem.
Importable~
