[Overview]

  • Middling speed and attack stats
  • Pathetic Def, mediocre Sp Def
  • Stealth Rock weakness
  • Has access to U-turn, Toxic Spikes, Roost
  • Can absorb Toxic Spikes since it is somehow magically grounded
[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: U-Turn
move 2: Poison Jab
move 3: X-Scissor
move 4: Pursuit / Knock Off / Roost / Toxic Spikes
item: Choice Scarf
nature: Adamant / Jolly
ability: Swarm
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

  • Poison Jab and X-Scissor are obligatory STAB moves
  • U-Turn for scouting and switch initiative
  • Pursuit is useful for hitting psychics fleeing X-Scissor, Knock Off is for eviolite users like Tangela and Rhydon, Roost is for added durability, though you will of course be switching out immediately afterward, and Toxic Spikes with a scarf guarantees at least one layer, if not two
  • EVs are pretty straightforward, hit as hard as possible with Adamant max attack (still only reaching 284), while outspeeding as much as possible with scarf and max speed investments (can someone help me with a good benchmark?)
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

  • You're obviously going to want a spinner if you intend to keep it around for a while- Armaldo can provide his own Rocks and spin if necessary, though he is slow
  • Great for late-game cleanup, as there is an abundance of Psychic types in the tier and with Scarf Beedrill outspeeds all non-scarf variants and OHKOs or 2HKOs with STAB X Scissor.
  • His 4x resistances to Bug and Grass will rarely come in handy, as he is usually OHKO'd or 2HKO'd by any threat using those moves
  • Appreciates hazards, as with any other revenge killer/late-game sweeper does
  • Occasionally you'll get down into Swarm range and go on a short (or game-ending rampage) with X-Scissor- getting down into range is pretty easy if you don't have a spinner.
  • Wish Support would be appreciated, again for added longevity and durability, though good luck finding an opportunity to pass one
  • Pursuit does 35-41% to Max/Max fleeing Slowking (which he'll regain a lot of, sadly), and always OHKOs Kadabra, whether fleeing or not.
[SET]
name: Toxic Spikes
move 1: U-Turn
move 2: Toxic Spikes
move 3: Knock Off / Protect / X-Scissor / Pursuit
move 4: Knock Off / Protect / X-Scissor / Pursuit
item: Focus Sash / Leftovers / Life Orb
ability: Swarm
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk /4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

  • With the given EVs and Jolly, Beedrill reaches 273 Speed, which is enough to set up at least one layer of toxic spikes, though it is usually two (almost guaranteed two if using in lead with Sash)
  • U-Turn is to preserve it for later, as death fodder or a scout
  • Protect helps scout, while Knock off is for pesky Eviolite users, X Scissor is a strong STAB option, while Pursuit nails fleeing Psychics
  • The last two moveslots are up to the player, since all this set usually does is get spikes set up and die.
  • If you intend to use this set with a GOOD rapid spinner, Sash is viable because it allows you to kill their poison type while keeping Beedrill's set hidden, though by the time that happens it's often too late. If you intend to use it as a diehard lead though, Sash is your best option.
  • Leftovers is for recovery, if you want to try to Toxic Stall as much as possible with Protect, though with Beedrill's paperthin defenses, it won't help much
  • Life Orb is probably your best option if you want to use it as a scout, to get as much damage as possible off with Pursuit and U-Turning.
  • The EVs are again rather self-explanatory, though one might try a bulkier set with 252 Speed/84 HP/172 Def EVs, which is bulkier but still not bulky by any means
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

  • Team support aimed towards eliminating common grounded Poison types like Skuntank and Roselia is essential if you want to set Toxic Spikes up
  • Rapid Spin support is of course appreciated, and is essential if running sash
[SET]
name: Boosting Sweeper
move 1: Pursuit / U-Turn
move 2: X-Scissor
move 3: Poison Jab
move 4: Swords Dance / Agility
item: Life Orb / Focus Sash
ability: Swarm
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]

  • After one Swords Dance, Beedrill OHKOs Max/Max Slowking (104.5-123.7%) with X Scissor
  • 273 Speed is enough to outspeed some major threats, but still leaves Beedrill vulnerable to being revenge killed/killed outright
  • After an Agility, Adamant Beedrill can outspeed most of the tier without scarves, and even a decent amount of scarfers, reaching 498 speed.
  • If you are really devoted to spinning, you can run Sash so the Agility set is guaranteed a boost. It serves no purpose on the slower Swords Dance set, where it can be easily KO'd by a repeated move.
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

  • The Swords Dance set lacks speed, and the Agility set lacks firepower, failing to net necessary OHKOs and leaving Beedrill open to counterattack
  • Hazard support is a must for Agility, while t-wave support and fast teammates are needed for Swords Dance to succeed
  • Rapid Spin support is, of course, welcome.
[Other Options]

  • Baton Pass, but is usually outclassed
  • Tailwind
  • Sunny Day
[Checks and Counters]

  • Tangela only takes 27-33% from the Scarf set's X-Scissor, and can easily wall it
  • Anything with priority, scarf, or basespeed higher than 75 with decent physical firepower
  • Steels, Rocks, Grounds, Fires, the list is so long I would take up an entire page by myself

Has this already been QC approved? Otherwise the label should be quality countrol.
And I think focus sash should be slashed on the boosting set, Beedrill is barely going to be able to set up without a Sash

My bad, I thought Copyediting was first. My apologies. I fixed it. Also, Beedrill can cause switches from Kadabra and company, and Sash is hardly viable for ANY mid-late game sweeper aside from Kadabra, and would require a LOT of prediction and team support. Gunna have to say that Life Orb is necessary, not only because no other item really works, but because even with Adamant/ 252 Atk Beedrill still lacks a lot of power.

Um, Kadabra can easily ouspeed and OHKO beedril, furthermore, Beedrill is a Pokemon that needs alot of support anyway so I dont see why Rapid Spin support cant be provided.
Also, maybe mention Toxic Spikes for the Scarf set

There, I mentioned both, though as I point out in the post, Sash on the SD is not really viable.

The format is wrong.

This is the right one.

[SET]
name:
move 1:
move 2:
move 3:
move 4:
item:
ability:
nature:
evs:

And the EVs go like this: HP / Atk / Def / SpA / SpD / Spe

Still wrong though. Your sets should look like this:

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: U-Turn
move 2: Poison Jab
move 3: X-Scissor
move 4: Pursuit / Knock Off / Roost / Toxic Spikes
item: Choice Scarf
nature: Adamant / Jolly
ability: Swarm
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET]
name: Toxic Spikes
move 1: U-Turn
move 2: Toxic Spikes
move 3: Knock Off / Protect / X-Scissor / Pursuit
move 4: Knock Off / Protect / X-Scissor / Pursuit
item: Focus Sash / Leftovers / Life Orb
ability: Swarm
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk /4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET]
name: Boosting Sweeper
move 1: Pursuit / U-Turn
move 2: X-Scissor
move 3: Poison Jab
move 4: Swords Dance / Agility
item: Life Orb / Focus Sash
ability: Swarm
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

Just copy and paste. A lot of slashes though.

no mention of choice band? imo its far superior to scarf

It's hardly worth mentioning with Beedrill's mediocre Speed stat......It never gets a chance to hit (trust me, I playtested it). If someone else thinks it's worth it I'll try again and write up a set or combine it with the Scarf set......The only thing it really has going for it is a decently strong U-Turn off of a decent Speed stat that can beat walls.

And @SuperJOCKE: Sheesh picky picky picky >.> You could have just sent me a PM saying that it needed spaces in between the slashes and I would have fixed them. I don't notice minute details like that......Thanks again for the correction.

i know it sucks, but then again, beedrill sucks. I'd slash it behind scarf and make a little mention that it hits harder and the expense of speed

Why does this thing even have an analysis? It's just so... awful. The SD set is approximately fifty million times worse than Scolipede (which also does T-Spikes better). The only set you can really make a case for is Scarf, because of the whole STAB U-Turn thing - until you realise you need Jolly to outspeed Swellow. Yeah, why are we using this again?

tennisace's reason for Beedrill was Swords Dance and Toxic Spikes if I remember correctly. I certainly asked if Beedrill was a "joke" Pokémon when we did those lists.

@Graceclaw Call me picky if you want, but everyone is supposed to follow that format.

Yeah, Beedrill is outclassed by Scoliopede at almost every turn, except, as you mentioned, STAB U-Turn. I think it's mentioned because even outclassed Pokes need some love every now and then :P I was able to use the Agility, Scarf, and Toxic Spikes sets effectively in this metagame, so it's still viable.

@SuperJOCKE I know, I wasn't calling YOU picky, just good-naturedly whining about the strictness of the formatting. It makes sense, so I'm not ACTUALLY complaining.

Holy shit slashitis. Alright here we go:

Move the Toxic Spikes set to the first slot. Get rid of Leftovers and Life Orb as slashes, move them both to AC. Beedrill isn't going to be surviving much. The third move should be Knock Off on its own. The fourth move should be a slash of Pursuit / X-Scissor. Don't mention Protect at all, it does nothing for Beedrill. Mention Roost if you kind of want Beedrill to stick around with Life Orb in AC.

Change the Scarf set's name to "Choice" and slash Choice Band in there. 75 Speed really isn't terrible in NU, especially when a few faster checks are leaving the tier. Change Poison Jab for Brick Break, so you can at least dent Steel-types. Poison Jab gives you no significant coverage and is weaker than X-scissor. The last slot should be: Pursuit/Knock Off, with Toxic Spikes in AC. Roost is terrible.

The last set should look like:

-Swords Dance / Agility
-X-Scissor
-Brick Break
-Pursuit / Substitute

with U-turn in AC.
