Welcome to the very first Best Friends Tournament! There are many friendship groups and bonds made through playing Pokémon on Smogon, and I wanted to host a tournament which would celebrate that. This is a tournament where players pair up in teams of two and take each other on in tiers that they choose to find out who is the best duo.

Each match will be a best of 3 between two pairs. During signups, each pair picks a tier from any of the current gen official singles tiers or previous gen's OU tiers.

Here's an example to show how a round will be played. Suppose team 1 (players A and B) choose ORAS OU and team 2 (players X and Y) choose USUM RU. Team 1 decide that B will play ORAS OU and A will play USUM RU, where as team 2 decide that X will play ORAS OU and Y will play USUM RU. If there is a tie (let's say A beats X and Y beats B) after all player have played, then a third game will be played in USUM OU (to be as fair as possible) to decide which team advances (each team picks the player to represent them - let's say X vs A).

Each round will last one week. Here is a link to the rules and guidelines competitors must follow. All games must be played on Pokemon Showdown! (server does not matter). Replays are preferred but not necessary. Decide within your pair who will play which tier/who will play who on the other team. If teams are inactive, I had the right to kick them and replace them with subs. RBY OU is best of 3.

Extension for both denied. I'm sorry but "didn't notice the deadline" isn't a good enough excuse and I have already made the round 2 pairs - one of which you were tied against has already played their game. In the original signups post, I mentioned that rounds would be weekly and on the round 1 post I said that the deadline was Wednesday (exactly a week after it was posted).

Husemannen called activity and showed me pictures of you ignoring his attempt at scheduling for the tiebreaker. I mentioned when the tiebreaker was, so you should have known. Sorry.

wait what? first off they didnt even call act in the thread or even tell us this, they made one attempt to schedule with us, and we didnt respond for one day and we got activitied? (ham was the one who was gonna play the tiebreaker and he was off smogon for literally around 18 hours) this is even more bs if u consider that the only reason the series dragged out this long was bc husemannen missed the scheduled time for his first match and we had to play later which ended up giving us a really inconvenient time for the tiebreaker

Husemannen missing his first scheduled time is interesting and not something I knew of. In response to this, here is how the situation will resolve:
- The tiebreak of R1 with Husemannen's team vs EternalSnowman's team will happen.
- If Husemannen's team wins, then it will have the same effect as me denying your request (they keep the score from R2 and you do not advance).
- If your team wins, then you will replace Husemannen's team and will be 0-0 against your new opponents (as if you had won in R1).

I am making this clear to everyone as this is causing me way more hassle than it ought it: please get your battles done and notice the deadline.
