Mega Sceptile aims to shed passive damage rather than its tail!
Mega Sceptile's superb Speed and STAB moves make it well-suited to chasing out other fast offensive threats like Ash-Greninja, Eternatus, and Flutter Mane. Magic Guard negates Chloroblast's recoil and prevents residual damage, with the latter ensuring it can maintain high Base Power on Dragon Energy. Torch Song picks off a would-be wall in non-Assault Vest Celesteela, and its Special Attack boosts help facilitate late-game sweeps and force special walls like Mega Audino to be more careful with their HP. The last move aims to bypass would-be checks, with High Jump Kick OHKOing Blissey and Gigaton Hammer scaring Mega Audino and Arceus-Fairy. Despite Life Orb and 150-Base Power moves, Mega Sceptile rarely scores OHKOs, so entry hazard support such as RegenVest users with Stone Axe proves very useful, notably ensuring Flutter Mane goes down to Chloroblast after burn damage; these also provide valuable Knock Off and pivoting support, as Mega Sceptile doesn't run recovery, is fairly frail, and is notably weaker without a Life Orb. Due to this poor bulk and lack of recovery, it's recommended to use Mega Sceptile as a supplement to other bulkier special wallbreakers like Eternatus.
