Bibarel

That's right, Bibarel.

Bibarel looks harmless, but has a major trick up its sleeve. Its ability Simple. It increases the effects of stat-changing effects. So if it uses Amnesis, its Sp.Def triples. With Def Curl, its Defense doubles.

Bibarel @ Mystic Water or Magnet
Trait: Simple
Nature: ?
-Amnesia
-Defense Curl
-Double Team
-Waterfall/Aqua Tail (or Surf if I go with Charge Beam)
-Charge Beam
-Super Fang

I can't decide which of these attacks to choose. Like stated above, Amnesia triples its Sp.Def and Defense Curl doubles its Def. Double Team greatly increases evasion with Simple, Super Fang is usefull, Charge Beam because it has a 70% chance of doubling Bibarel's Sp.Atk, since it has Simple. And I need a water attack of course. I gave it Mystic Water or Magnet because its ability also helps with items, so Mystic Water increases power of Water attacks by 40%, and same for Magnet with Electric (Charge Beam) So what should I go with?

Somone is going to cry Foul if you start using a Bibarel w/ Double Team and Brightpowder or something that makes opponent miss... Oh dear lord I can see it now... (rushes to go try Double Team Bibarel for Battle Tower... And still get OHKOed by Sheer Cold)

Edit: To be semi Serious on the subject Bibarel has interesting 2vs2 Potential... For example
Bibarel@Persim Berry (whichever one stops confusion)
- Waterfall
- Super Fang (backup for anything you cant hit that hard with other Moves)
- Pluck
- Return

Lead this off with a Pokemon that knows Swagger, and Swagger Bibarel, Tripling its Attack Stat, and just kill everything you see :-p... Pluck is for negating potential berry stat boosts, as well as better type coverage and Super Fang backs you up against those things you cant particularly dent otherwise...

As an extention of this, one could use Drapion as a partner for Bibarel, and just have Drapion Accupressure Bibarel over and over, hoping to come up useful each time. Of course a bit of a different setup might be better for a Bibarel at the receiving end of Accupressure.

Bib's max stats with a neutral nature (assuming 252 EVs in each stat):

HP:362
Attack:269
Def: 219
SAttk:209
SDef:219
Spd:241

Or 410 total base stats.

So Simple is balanced out by the fact that he isn't exactly setting the world on fire with his stats to begin with. Although you can apparently get up to an effective +12 modifier, who is ever going to let you do that? Plus, negative modifiers get doubled too, and Bibarel being a physical attacker + Intimidators out the wing wong = bad times.

But anyway.

Bibarel@Expert Belt
Simple
Adamant, 252Att/252Spd/4HP
Return
Waterfall
Iron Tail
Pluck

Bibarel doesn't really have the defenses to be playing around with stat-uppers on its own, so get it an attack/speed boost from a Baton Passer and attempt the sweep. Probably not an ideal EV spread but IMO Bibarel should only come in once its BPed speed/attack are so high nothing can touch it.

However, it doesn't matter. Taunting pokemon like Gyarados still crush you (Charge Beam does nothing to it, at least with Bibarel), you can still be phazed, and specifically Gengar or anything can switch into a set up and still OHKO Bibarel with a super effective move, like Close Combat. So Simple is not a good deal at all

Bidoof is the best Pokemon ever. Nuff Said.

If only it got endeavor,it would have been fun owning people using Bidoof and the Focus sash - Endeavor,Quick Attack Combo.

(And Yes i know Bidoof is the First Form)

@Chozo:

Bibarel can't get +12 stats. If its +stats are equivalent to the amount from +6, any subsequent Double Teams/Amnesias/etc. will have no effect.

And Bibarel is ugly :(

Thats a good idea....

That's why I use Def Curl or Amnesia a few times making Bibarel virtually invinsible.

You have to survive long enough to use them, however. And if you don't pack both, your opponent can switch to a Pokemon with the opposite attack type and simply slap the beaver around like it was nothing.

Again, this set is killed by the fact that Skarmory easily phazes it, and Roosts off any damage. Pointless using this thing at all
