Rejected Bigger, thicker text that's easier to read at low YouTube resolution

I watch videos of Pokemon Showdown almost as much as I play the game. But I have bad internet, so a lot of the time I can't watch YouTube past 144p. Then I can't read what's going on because the text is 1px thick. Here's a question: in this screenshot, how much damage did the Earthquake do on turn 11? What move did Hippowdon do on turn 12? How much damage did the Scald do on turn 12? How much HP does Slowbro have? What is the username of the opponent?

Specifically, I would like move names, HP values, PP values, and damage %'s to be big and distinct enough to be easily visible at low resolutions. It's a text-based game, so I can play it with my bad internet. But the text is too thin, so videos are inaccessible to me.

This isn't even really a PS problem, it just depends on what resolution and zoom-in level content creators are using. That example is already plenty zoomed in and it's not really possible to expect a 144p video to have legible text at that size. It might suck that you can't play videos at a higher resolution, but this is hardly something that requires a full change of the UI for everyone.

Those numbers would absolutely be legible if they were in a bigger font size, possibly outlined like an image macro if necessary. All it would require is an update to the style tags around a couple specific places where important text occurs.

But you seem to disregard the fact that the scale is still dependent on the content creator themselves, so it's very unrealistic to expect some remarkable improvement from changing the core UI. Imagine if you're watching some other video where they weren't as zoomed in, then it wouldn't even be remotely possible to fix that. This is such a specific problem that it's not really worth the effort, given how unreliable the solution would be.

It's not the size of the text. It's the indistinctness that happens when it gets compressed. Outlining the text would fix the problem.

I care a lot about accessibility, and that's why a lot of things here are the way they are.

Notice, for instance, how pokemon and move names in the main message log are shown in extra-large font for readability. Also notice in your screenshot, you can tell that Slowbro is poisoned, you can tell what turn it is... we put a lot of effort into this.

There's a lot of information in this game, and there's no room to make it all easily readable (also: when I bumped the chat font size from 8.5pt to 9pt I got a ton of complaints; people just don't like change). I think as long as the HP bars, pokemon names, and move names are readable at 144p, that's pretty good.

If you want to watch YouTube videos at higher resolution, I'd suggest using one of those YouTube downloader programs.

I don't understand why you want text outlining. We already outline everything that needs it to be high contrast (for instance, pokemon names above the HP bar). Everything else is already high contrast, and outlining wouldn't do anything.
