[SET COMMENTS]
Set Details
========
- Ting-Lu serves as a support member to its team, able to mitigate incoming special damage with Snarl and Vessel of Ruin while chipping foes with Ruination and Sand Tomb. Its high bulk allows it to stay on the field for a long time, letting it spread more damage and protect its teammates with Vessel of Ruin longer. It has good matchups into several key threats, such as Terapagos, Miraidon, and Raging Bolt.
- Snarl is used to further help its team members take special attacks, while Ruination and Sand Tomb can chip down foes to let its teammates pick up easier KOs. Ting-Lu can use either Throat Chop or Stone Edge to improve matchups into several Restricted Pokemon, including Calyrex-S, Ho-Oh, and Calyrex-I. Sand Tomb can also be used to trap foes on the field so a teammate with a good matchup or a move such as Yawn to take advantage.
- Ting-Lu uses Assault Vest to bolster its lower Special Defense. Stacking this Special Defense multiplier with Vessel of Ruin and Snarl lets it take a lot of special attacks such as Dazzling Gleam from Choice Specs Miraidon, Moonblast from foes such as Flutter Mane and Tera Fairy Lunala, and Tera Starstorm from a Calm Mind-boosted Terapagos, allowing Ting-Lu to be 3HKOed, instead of 2HKOed, by most of these.
- Ting-Lu's Attack investment allows it to 2HKO Electric Seed Lunala most of the time with Throat Chop. Its Special Defense investment allows it to survive two Modest Choice Specs Tera Fairy Miraidon Dazzling Gleams inside of Electric Terrain most of the time, as well as Mystic Water Kyogre's Water Spout in the rain. Its Defense investment allows it to live Rillaboom's Wood Hammer in Grassy Terrain, Zamazenta-C's Body Press, and Chien-Pao's Icicle Crash, as well as Urshifu-R's Tera Water Surging Strikes most of the time.
- Ting-Lu uses Tera Fairy to drop its weaknesses to Fighting-type attacks such as Body Press from Zamazenta-C and Close Combat from the Urshifu formes, as well dropping Ting-Lu's weakness to Grass-, Water-, Fairy-, and Ice-type attacks. Additionally, it gives Ting-Lu an immunity to Miraidon's Draco Meteor.
Teambuilding
=========
- Ting-Lu may struggle against strong physical attackers such as Urshifu-R, Rillaboom, and Chien-Pao, which force it to Terastallize and are unhindered by Vessel of Ruin. It is also vulnerable to Amoonguss, due to Ting-Lu often having no protection against Spore and not threatening a KO by itself.
- If Terastallization is not available, Ting-Lu can also struggle heavily against Restricted Pokemon such as Zamazenta-C and Koraidon, which threaten a 2HKO and OHKO with Body Press and Close Combat or Collision Course, respectively. Calyrex-I is also able to 2HKO it with Glacial Lance.
- Ting-Lu is often run with Zamazenta-C, as it allows Zamazenta-C to survive special attacks such as Electro Drift from Miraidon and Earth Power from Landorus. It is also able to chip down Pokemon Zamazenta-C may struggle to OHKO, such as Miraidon and Calyrex-S.
- Ting-Lu thrives on bulky teams, where it is able to both protect its partners and chip foes down for them to take KOs, mainly seeing usage on teams with Calyrex-S and Zamazenta-C. Calyrex-S and Chien-Pao can threaten Amoonguss with Psychic- and Ice-type attacks to stop it from threatening Ting-Lu, and Zamazenta-C has a great matchup into the aforementioned Chien-Pao and Rillaboom, which would otherwise threaten a 2HKO. In return, Ting-Lu can chip down foes to help Calyrex-S take KOs, allowing it to gain Grim Neigh boosts. It also helps other partners take special attacks, such as Raging Bolt and Amoonguss, further bolstering their bulk. This allows Amoonguss to help Ting-Lu chip down foes with the combination of Amoonguss's Spore and Ting-Lu's Sand Tomb, while Raging Bolt threatens both Kyogre and Urshifu-R.
- Ting-Lu can also be run with Calyrex-I, helping it take special attacks such as Electro Drift and Astral Barrage, which would otherwise threaten it heavily. It also helps Calyrex-I take KOs by dealing chip damage, allowing Calyrex-I to get Chilling Neigh boosts quickly and start to snowball out of control. Sand Tomb also stops foes from switching and removing Calyrex-I's Leech Seed.
