Pet Mod Blank Canvas [Randbats is PMOTM!]

Since the tourney has just ended, I will be doing Gabo's business of my thoughts on the current best mons in the format. This part will mainly cover attackers/sweepers, I'll cover some of the defensive mons after Slate 5 is wrapped up.
  • No question about it, Pinaturbo is probably the best Pokemon in the meta so far. There are few reliable answers to it, since it has the highest speed stat in the entire meta, not to mention the combo of Regenerator + Parting Shot doing it wonders. Fiery Dance + Earth Power has solid coverage against most Pokemon, and fast Will-O-Wisp is a nightmare to deal with and can put your entire team in a tough spot if you aren't careful. Ofc there are some Pokemon that can tank some hits from Pinaturbo, like Arachnode, but they can get crippled by burn. There's only one Pokemon immune to burn that doesn't run Toxic Orb (looking at you, Badjur,) Goblantern, but it's super weak against Pinaturbo since it's probably getting hit hard by Fiery Dance. The only matchup Pinaturbo can worry about is other Pinaturbo, but even then it can run Scarf to avoid speed tying. It was present in every tourney match, so there's no reason why it's not the best. I'm definitely expecting it to get nerfed at some point.
  • Speaking about Badjur, it's also another great Pokemon too. Poison Heal, Swords Dance and Facade make it extremely difficult to answer if it manages to get going, and it also has other tools up its belt. Knock Off answers mons like Wizhazard who would otherwise wall its coverage, and U-Turn is an amazing pivot move. It's honestly kind of just outclassed Piss as a Normal-type physical attacker, as Piss has to run something like Choice Band to match the damage potential of Badjur (it doesn't get a boosting move like SD.) You could also use Badjur with Stun Spore to wear down Pokemon like Pinaturbo who could otherwise get off nasty damage, but that's a fringe set (you're probably just running SD/Facade/Koff/Turn anyway.) There are some mons that can tank the damage though, like Fettogre who completely walls it (and Badjur will need support to get it out of the way,) but it's an amazing cleaner under the right circumstances.
  • Florustitia is also a very scary physical sweeper, DDance + Sharpness-boosted Leaf Blades, Sacred Swords and Psyblades will obviously hurt a LOT and not much mons can tank the damage after a boost. Florustitia isn't very great against Pokemon like 729 Front Facing Pumpkins, Eolikopter and Fettogre, so it obviously needs help against those, but it can definitely KO mons who want to switch into it with Sacred Sword/Psyblade like Pinaturbo and Eolikopter.
That's all for now, see you guys later after Slate 5 finishes.
