Blastoise @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Def / 196 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic / Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin
- Refresh

Blastoise has risen as the best entry hazard remover in NU thanks to its ability to clear the potent Toxic Spikes and remove status from itself with Refresh. Additionally, Blastoise is a good check to the most common Stealth Rock setters in the tier, Steelix, Rhydon, and specially defensive Druddigon, meaning it can switch into them and remove Stealth Rock with relative ease. Although Blastoise generally runs Toxic to help beat Heliolisk and opposing bulky Water-types like Slowking and Vaporeon, Ice Beam is an option to immediately punish Grass-types like Dhelmise, Decidueye, and Alolan Exeggutor as well as Druddigon. Blastoise is a very common fit on balance builds alongside Steelix and Weezing; Steelix checks Electric-types, while Weezing checks Grass-types, and both appreciate Blastoise not removing their hazards with Rapid Spin. Blastoise also appreciates Pokemon such as Incineroar, Sneasel, and Choice Band Aerodactyl thanks to them beating Ghost-types, which can spinblock versus it.

Mention that opposing Ghost types such as Rotom, Dhelmise, and Mismagius can be annoying to Blastoise as they can thwart attempts to rid the field of status. They do risk Scald doing damage or burning, especially in the case of Dhelmise, but they will at least be able to keep hazards on the field.

What you have now is fine although I am hesitant to call it a Druddigon set as offensive variants (Z Outrage) can power through if you do not get fortunate with Scald. 1/1

Blastoise has risen as the best entry hazard remover in NU thanks to its ability to remove Toxic Spikes—an incredibly potent entry hazard— (you were over by like 30 characters and this was really the only thing i found worth removing, if i'm dumb tho and you can go over that much dm me) and remove status from itself with Refresh. Additionally, Blastoise is a good check to the most common Stealth Rock setters in the tier:, (colon -> comma) Steelix, Rhydon, and Druddigon, meaning it can switch into them and remove Stealth Rock with relative ease. fwiw i think removing that bit is actually rly bad because a huge reason stoise is good rn is because it can remove tspikes and not rly worry too much about the poison thanks to refresh. I’ll implement tomorrow
