[Pros]
- Strong as fuck, and with Speed Boost, it is extremely hard to stop
- Unlike in gen 5, Blaziken can now use Baton Pass with Speed Boost, which means even if it can't beat its counter, it can just Baton Pass it to something else that's just as threatening
- Relatively good offensive typing - Fire can take advantage of the sun to hit like a nuke... if it's up

[Cons]
- Frail - hard to set up
- Uses up a Mega slot if you're using Mega Blaziken
- Protect gets REALLY predictable, and Blaziken is utterly dependent on it
- HJK is a stupid move

[Set recommendations]

Blaziken @ Focus Sash / Leftovers
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass
- Protect
- Roar

- Pretty much the only reason to run standard Blaziken is to run a dedicated Baton Pass set so you can use Sash or Leftovers - kind of like Ninjask but doesn't suck as much
- SD and Protect with a free turn pretty much gets you +2 / +2 passed to something if you don't get phazed out or killed by priority
- Roar prevents you from being phazed unless your opponent runs like Liepard or something
- Substitute can be used over Roar to get more speed boosts (as well as potentially passing a Sub!), but not being phazed is just too precious
- Stuff to pass to are obviously good for a dedicated Baton Passing set - ones that synergise well are Gyarados, Landorus-T, Mega Mewtwo X, Giratina-O, Rayquaza, Hawlucha as well as just standard physical attackers like Groudon, Excadrill, etc etc
- You don't always have to pass +2/+2, you can always just Protect and pass off +1 Speed if you want to conserve Blaze, most things don't mind +1 Speed :D
- Wobbuffet really helps Blaziken get that first boost
- Defog and Rapid Spin to clear, Magic Bounce to prevent hazards to preserve your Sash

[Mega Evolution Recommendations and Play]

Blaziken @ Blazikenite / Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SAtk)
- Protect
- Hi Jump Kick
- Flare Blitz
- Baton Pass / Swords Dance

- Strong late game cleaner
- Just Protect to get +1 and the mega evolution, you'd outspeed most things with 492 Speed, and then just kill shit
- HJK is compulsory until Low Kick finds a way into Blaziken's movepool for strong STAB
- Flare Blitz complements HJK by destroying Aegislash and getting a boost in the sun - 2HKOes many resists in the sun
- SD for more sweeping potential, although it's not easy to set up.
- Baton Pass lets you pass Speed Boosts to something else if something counters you, while SD improves your sweeping potential
- You can use Life Orb in place of the Mega Stone if you want to use a different Mega Pokemon
- HP Ice can be used to fuck Gliscor and Dragon/Flying types when sun is not up
- Stone Edge can be used for Gyarados

[Checks and Counters]
- Rain + physically bulky stuff that resist or are immune to HJK: Aegislash, Gliscor, bulkier Psychic-types
- Multiscale Dragonite
- Hippowdon can take a hit and either kill with EQ or phaze out BP variants
- Random Protect mons to fuck HJK
- Jellicent / Slowbro
- Talonflame and Azumarill to revenge
- Other priority mons can pick off slightly weakened Blazikens - Mega Lucario, Deoxys-A
- Beware that all of the above that don't depend priority need to watch out for Baton Pass.

Flying types are decent checks, maybe mention Stone Edge or something, since sun is no longer guaranteed to be up?

Giratina-O should be a counter to the BP set since it can wall it and phaze whatever it passes to. You really don't need a +Speed nature either since at +1 you don't miss anything as Mega Blaziken, and you still outspeed Scarf Palkia. If you're going to Protect turn 1 you don't need to outspeed Arceus.

Giratina-O is outsped,so Blaziken can roar it out first,or it becomes a 50/50 between EQ and roar/dtail. Also it's currently unavailable due to pokebank not being out yet.

Not available. Since we're talking about ubers beta and not pokebank ubers. Blaze doesn't really have any hard checks/counters in ubers beta bar maybe talonflame and aegislash if blaze isn't at +2 atk, scarftwo is also something to watch out for.

Actually, I think you should have regular LO Blaziken here as well. While Mega Blaziken is mostly better, the ability to free up your Mega Slot alone is worth it.

Should I just slash Life Orb onto the Mega set, or should I write up a new set in the normal Blaziken section? They're pretty much the same set except one is Mega Blaze and the other is not.

Hmm... You know, it's sorta inconsistent, but yeah, slashing in Life Orb is the better choice here. It's less writing, but pretty much the same amount of information. Just mention "Use Life Orb if you want a different Mega Pokémon".

With the boost in speed Mega gets, wouldn't it be better to go Adamant?

Still outspeeds Jolly Blaziken with a much more noticeable boost to attack, which would be the same as LO Blaziken.

+1 Jolly Blaziken = 426

+1 Adamant Mega Blaziken = 449

+1 Jolly Mega Blaziken = 492

You outspeed base 90-100s, which is pretty important, IMO (especially when Pokebank comes out, you'd outspeed Scarf Gene/Xerneas/Yveltal/Kyurem-W + all base 90s, as well as speed-tieing shit like Scarf Palkia).

LO Blazkein > Mega Blazeiken but the difference is small

Even if they were both Adamant then its around a ~3% difference.

Random calc appears:

252+ Atk Life Orb Blaziken Hi Jump Kick vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Arceus-Ground: 246-290 (55.4 - 65.31%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Blaziken-Mega Hi Jump Kick vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Arceus-Ground: 234-276 (52.7 - 62.16%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Is there a reason the first set is some Ninjask knock-off? I mean the introduction is all about how great Blaziken is as an attacker, and then the first recommended set is this straight BP set with no attacks. Is Blaziken not the great attacker it seems?

I mean I can understand stratifying the regular and MEvo strats, but the MEvo has LO slashed which would make it not a MEvo anymore, so wouldn't that do better to be listed as the first "regular" Blaziken set?

It's worth mentioning that Taunt completely ruins the Baton Pass set, particularly coming from something like Mega Bannette.

It doesn't completely ruin the BP set, you are faster than any taunter after a couple of speed boosts, most likely you will be able to pass after one protect which is fair enough. Mega Banette is rare and probably not that viable (haven't seen many competent players talking about it or using it).

Could Level 56's/ImprovedVersions (I think it's theirs) Blaziken set deserve a mention. Idk the EV's (we could ask them) but the moveset was SD/Knock Off/Low Kick/Flare Blitz, with the mega stone. I think at least something similar to that deserves a mention; as an all out attacker it has the potential to be immense if it can set up (as we saw to an extent yesterday)
