Monotype Blissey (Normal) [GP 1/1]

[SET]
name: The Blob (Normal)
move 1: Teleport
move 2: Soft-Boiled
move 3: Seismic Toss
move 4: Stealth Rock / Toxic
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Natural Cure
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Thanks to its colossal HP, sky-high special bulk, and wide array of utility moves, Blissey is one of the best walls in the National Dex Monotype metagame and a must-have on balanced Normal teams. Teleport turns Blissey into an incredibly good defensive pivot as well, taking advantage of its ability to switch into special attackers it walls, like Greninja and Nidoking, to maintain momentum for the team by bringing attackers in safely. Soft-Boiled increases Blissey's longevity, allowing it to support its team throughout the match. Seismic Toss deals consistent damage, enabling Blissey to weaken most of the threats it walls while making it not fully stopped by Taunt. Lastly, Stealth Rock weakens opposing teams gradually, which helps offensive Pokemon like Diggersby and Mega Lopunny net crucial KOs. However, Toxic can be used to further diminish Blissey's passiveness by heavily crippling defensive and offensive threats alike, such as Zapdos and Hydreigon. Maximum HP and Defense investments with a Bold nature are needed to patch Blissey's physical frailty, ensuring it can comfortably shrug weaker physical hits from the likes of Choice Scarf Excadrill and Mega Diancie. Natural Cure lets Blissey absorb status aliments for the team. Heavy-Duty Boots prevents entry hazard damage, which gives Blissey better Teleport pivoting that sets it apart from the bulkier Chansey.

All of Blissey's teammates appreciate its supportive and slow pivoting capabilities. Porygon2 stands out as Blissey's best partner because it can easily soak physical hits Blissey is unable to, including from threats like Mega Sharpedo and Mega Scizor, while also being able to pivot out with Teleport. In return, Blissey absorbs status for Porygon2 and takes on special threats that bypass it such as Landorus and Volcarona, making the pair a formidable defensive backbone for Normal teams. Defensive Staraptor is also a good teammate given it switches in on physical Fighting-types such as Terrakion and Infernape for Blissey. It also has access to U-turn to keep momentum in tandem with Blissey's Teleport. Ditto patches Blissey's general vulnerability to setup sweepers like Dragonite and Cloyster by KOing them after it gets brought into the field via Teleport. It also helps Blissey massively against walls that beat it one-on-one like Celesteela and Toxic Toxapex. Mega Lopunny can threaten Ghost-types like Mega Sableye with its access to Scrappy, and Mega Pidgeot beats most Fighting-types that threaten Blissey such as Urshifu-S. Both Mega Pokemon can also form a pivoting core with Blissey due to their fast U-turns and moves to threaten Steel-types like Ferrothorn. Wallbreakers like Diggersby and Heliolisk all appreciate Blissey bringing them safely into the field with Teleport and weakening their targets with its Stealth Rock or Toxic support. In the same vein, Porygon-Z can more easily pull off a sweep with Blissey's aforementioned perks.

Thunder Wave sounds appealing to cripple offensive threats like Gengar and Kommo-o that can switch in freely on Blissey. However, using it means giving up Stealth Rock utility, and most Thunder Wave targets are halted just as well by Toxic. Aromatherapy or Heal Bell lets Blissey act as a cleric for the team, but Blissey can just absorb status via Natural Cure anyways.

Checks and Counters
===================

Normal

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types like Urshifu-S and Terrakion can OHKO Blissey with no problem at all while not fearing anything from it bar the rare Thunder Wave.

**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types like Mimikyu and Alolan Marowak are immune to Seismic Toss, meaning Toxic-less Blissey can do nothing to them but Teleport out. Mega Sableye and Gengar deserve a special mention because they're immune to both Seismic Toss and Toxic while being able to remove Blissey's Heavy-Duty Boots with Knock Off and Trick, respectively.

**Setup Sweepers**: Setup sweepers like Mega Scizor, Dragonite, and Tapu Fini typically use Blissey as setup fodder and can proceed to easily break through it.

**Physical Wallbreakers**: Powerful physically-oriented wallbreakers like Tapu Bulu, Dracovish, and Victini all bypass Blissey with ease due to its only average physical bulk.

**Stallbreakers**: Common stallbreakers like Mew and Gliscor can render Blissey's status moves useless with Taunt and easily recover off Seismic Toss damage.

**Trick and Knock Off**: Trick users like Latios and Blacephalon minimize Blissey's utility throughout the match by restricting it with a Choice item. Knock Off removes Heavy-Duty Boots from Blissey, making it vulnerable to entry hazard chip and, thus, hindering its effectiveness as a defensive pivot.

- mega lop is def a good example of something sr helps
- in the 2nd paragraph of set comments, i want you to open up the paragraph talking about teleport supporting its offensive teammates
- mention that p2 can also form a teleport momentum core with blissey
- mention u-turn/momentum gaining on staraptor (all the defensive pokemon don't have to suck momentum)
- add mlop as a teammate (beats ghosts w/ scrappy like mega sab)

[other options]
- wish+protect is bad, teleport is the main thing. maybe that can be used on stall normal, but lets leave that out of here for now

[checks & counters]
- in stallbreakers mention taunt (make it obvious)
- add physical wallbreakers as a section (since blissey is physically frail)

Good Job, QC 1/2!

- Replace Lando-T as an example against which the max defense EVs help against, the calc says otherwise
- Add Scarf Victini as a physical threat that Porygon2 helps against
- "In return, Blissey absorbs status for Porygon2 and takes on special threats that bypass the duck such as Landorus and Volcarona..." Change 'the duck' to Porygon2
- Move Mega Lopunny's mention to the top of the paragraph since its one of the more significant team options after Porygon2

implemented, just wanted to ask something:
In "Both Mega Pokemon can also form a pivoting core with Blissey due to their fast U-turns and moves to threaten Steel-types like Ferrothorn.",
wouldn't it be smth like "have moves to threaten"? Not a grammar expert, the new phrase just sounded weird to me here

You do not need to. In "due to their...moves to threaten", "their" is an adequate way to modify the moves that the Mega Pokemon have.
