Welcome to the seventh week of BLT VIII! For this year's format, teams will be fighting in a round robin where every team will play every other team. At the end of the round robin, the top four teams will move on to the playoffs where the first seed will play the fourth seed and the second seed will play the third seed to determine who will be this year’s finalists. A win will be worth 2 points, a draw 1, and a loss 0. Obviously, play on PS! (preferably main or smogtours server). Series are played in a best-of-one.

Basic Tournament Rules - you absolutely should read this, especially if you're new to forum tournaments

Sportsmanship: Don't be an ass. Not to your opponents, not to your team, not on PS, not on Smogon, not to me. A bit of friendly banter is ok, but please know where to draw the line. Think before you type, pleas

Scheduling and Activity Wins: Contact your opponent as quickly as possible on their Smogon wall, and look out for them on PS. You will have one week from the posting of the week's matches to get it done, and I will not be granting any extensions for any reasons. If your opponent is not responding to your post on their wall, cannot be found on PS, or miss multiple scheduled times, make a detailed activity post in the thread letting me know why you deserve the win. No activity post means no activity call. As long as you have visible attempts at scheduling (such as wall posts), you will be f

Disconnections and Timer: A timer loss is a loss. No if's, and's, or but's about it. If your opponent is nice enough to replay that's fine, but they are by no means obligated

Ghosting and Identity: Don't take or give battle advice or make moves based solely on the suggestions of others, and don't pretend to be someone else in order to play as them. You will be caught, and you will be disqualified from this season as well as future PS! tournaments (BLT, PSPL, etc.

Substitutions: Managers are free to substitute out inactive players at any point during the week with any subs they chose during the draft. Be sure to post in the thread when making a substitute

This week in Best Predicts I am going to share my favorite cupcake recipe.

Lavender Laprases (0) vs Turffield Turtwigs (11)

Ubers: velvet vs Decem - (happened already picking the kpop stan that lost tho. The battle may be over but the war has yet to begin.) We are going to be making some oil based chocolate cupcakes topped with a bailey's frosting and filled with scented cream. I call them... uh... Cupcakes

OU: Not Miyan vs Harshal_08 - Ingredients: Batter:
  • 1/2 cup (2 ounces) cocoa powder. (Preferably dutch process. preferably valrhona. You can sub dark chocolate powder if you want.)
  • 1 1/2 cups (10 1/2 ounces) sugar
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt or 1 teaspoon sea salt or 1 1/2 ish teaspoon course kosher salt aka the good stuff.
  • 1 3/4 cup (9 1/4 ounces) all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup neutral-tasting oil
  • 1 1/2 cup of strong coffee (or boiling water if you are lame)
  • 2 large eggs at room temp lightly whisked

  • 2 cup (or 4 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature (226 grams)
  • 1 tsp course kosher salt (6 grams)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (8 grams)
  • 7 cups powdered sugar (900 grams) - or a 2 lb bag
  • 4-6 Tbsp Baileys Irish Cream (60-90 grams)
  • 2 Tbsp heavy cream (30 grams)

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

RU: Mac3 vs Wubben - Preheat oven to 350 F
NU: Xiri vs 100%GXE - Set a rack in the upper third of the oven
PU: tlenit vs mammalu - Line a cupcake/muffin pan with cupcake liners and sprinkle with flour. Tap out excess, and set aside.
LC: Surfy vs TeamCharm - In a medium bowl whisk together the cocoa, sugar, salt, flour, and baking soda, then sift into a large bowl.
DOU: Zoaw vs Demykunst -In a medium bowl stir vanilla and oil together.

Ubers: lotiasite vs Ron...5 blce - Brew coffee (or bring water to a boil if you are lame)
OU: Perish Song vs Reje -Add it to the vanilla-oil mixture
OU: Gray vs Baloor - Make a well in the dry ingrediants and gradually whisk in the coffee-oil mixture into well incorporated. Gradually whisk eggs till smooth. Batter will be really thin.
UU: Axelsior vs Sificon - With an ice cream scoop preferably or a 1/3 cup, transfer batter into prepared cupcake pan.
RU: e~t~h~e~y vs Kyotoshi - Bake in upper third for 25-30 minutes until cake springs back from touch. Inserted tooth pick should come out clean.
NU: PokeArt2004♥ vs Ninja - In the meantime we can make the cream and icing
PU: MalMoonsault vs mets3569 - For the icing: Beat the butter on a medium speed for 30 seconds with a paddle or whisk attachment, until smooth.
LC: shadowrouge07 vs kythr - Mix in the salt and vanilla extract on a low speed.
DOU: TTT444 vs Mishimono -Mish. Slowly add in the powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time. Alternate with additions of Baileys and heavy cream.
Monotype: RichardPepper vs Pokemonerxyz - Beat on low until the ingredients are fully incorporated, and the desired consistency is reached.

Ubers: FatFighter2 vs 7u9i2 - If the frosting is too thick, add an extra Tbsp of heavy cream. If it's too thin, add in another 1/2 cup of powdered sugar.
OU: Failures vs ToastedBunzzz02 - Stir by hand with a rubber spatula to get the frosting SUPER smooth.
OU: Roginald vs Yugon - Cover with plastic wrap flush against the frosting until you're ready to use.
UU: TheGreenRoman vs Expulso - For the cream: Chill a large metal bowl and your desired whisk (I whip cream with hand mixers bc I like the extra level of control but you can use a standing mixer if you want) for at least 20 minutes in the freezer.
RU: EternalSnowman vs yovan33321 - When bowl is chilled add cream and vanilla, then add sugar.
NU: daniYSB vs roxiee - Whisk until the first soft peak appears. Then if using stand switch to handheld and whisk until all cream has been incoporated and texture is smooth and billow.
PU: Z Strats vs gum -Taste and adjust flavor if needed. Keep chilled until serving.
LC: BigBoy038 vs p4P1//0n - When cupcakes are completely cool take a knife or I actually like to use a soup spoon for this and slot out some of the top of your cupcakes.
DOU: LightScreener vs Shadowmonstr7 -In this indentation fill with the vanilla cream. And then carefully put the part of the cupcake you took off back on.
Monotype: Hys vs Meta - Now top with the frosting.
