In PS!, there is no way to test a move or strategy without getting into an online game. I believe there should be a bot that you could play against to test strategies, moves, etc. This would allow players to play against bots, separate of the ranked ladder. There would still be each format and it could be on the home screen under the standard play.
The player could choose a difficulty of bot and play against them for practice. This would help new Pokemon players be introduced to each move and how it functions. For higher skill players, it could be used to test ideas or practice.
