Hello folks. Here in Wisconsin it's rained quite a bit so naturally bugs and small toads have moved towards the high ground. With them moving so did their predators. I've been catching snakes left and right to keep them from getting into our house. I caught 4 today and relocated them a few miles down the road.

about a week ago i didn't notice a snake and almost stepped on it. I jumped back and the snake slithered away.

if only I had seen the snake after this was posted instead of before, then I would have chased it down and been able to contribute to this sanctified BP thread :psycry:
or it might have eaten me... I don't know if I have the same hunting skills as BP

hi friend i'm glad you like snakes but survival rates are generally poor when relocated far away from their home ranges. it's even more so when they're in a climate where hibernacula is harder to come by (winters are harsh!) such as wisconsin. if they're not a bother for you, consider releasing in the nearest habitat rather than a few miles down the road. thanks, a fellow snake friend

I release them at a nature reserve about a mile away. I'd rather have them die in the woods as intended then taking a pellet to the face. At least this way I feel like an ally to nature
