Project Break This Team: USUM UU Edition [Week 71 - Submissions]

Hydreigon @ Steelium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Flash Cannon
- Roost

Cobalion @ Shuca Berry / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Close Combat
- Stealth Rock

3 Atk Hydra with Steelium-Z has the potential to be a threat for this team. It lures in Malt which dies to a Corkscrew Crash after SR dmg. Volcanion also drops to D-pulse after SR dmg as well. It flat out walls the Reuniculus which is also really nice and because Gligar doesn't have Toxic it can't sit infront of it unless it wants to risk getting flinched. Fire Blast is in the final slot which most people might not expect, as you usually have Draco or Taunt / Defog so it has the potential to lure Scizor who think it is a free U-turn. Cobalion can also be a nuisance for this team with Gligar being its best check, which doesn't take a +4 Iron Head well as it is 2OHKO'd after rocks. Shuca Berry can also help alleviate this as it allows Coba to set-up on it with ease. It is also a soft check to Scizor and Hydra. Rocky Helmet can also be run to chip at Hydra and Scizor when they U-turn etc.

Bisharp @ Assault Vest
Ability: Defiant

- Sucker Punch

Suicune on its own annoys the hell out of this team and with Roar, reuni can’t set up on it. AV Bisharp can crush Reuni to avoid a last mon situation, tank a hit from alt and hit them with iron head, etc. Suicune can set up on Volcanion and Hydreigon so they aren’t an issue.

Kyurem @ Metronome
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 108 Def / 148 SpD

- Thunder Wave
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Dazzling Gleam
- Spikes

Kyurem goes ham vs this team, with Scizor being the only real issue. As long as Kyurem can keep behind a sub, It can handle Hydreigon. Klefki provides spikes to help Kyurem shred and is tailored to never be 2HKO'd by Scizor's Banded BP, as well as carrying HP fire. It can also switch into Hydreigon if need be.

Mienshao @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 100 HP / 156 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Fake Out

Durant @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Hone Claws
- Iron Head
- Superpower
- Crunch

Mienshao serves as bait for the fighting resists, bringing in one of Gligar, Altaria, or Reuniclus to try and deal with it's high-jump kicks. This allows Durant to take advantage of Mienshao's U-turn, forcing out Altaria or even comfortably setting up a hone claws on the other two mons or just downright starting to launch attacks, allowing Durant to take a kill right there. Hydra is forced to come in to try and KO it after it takes a kill due to it outspeeding everything else, but AV Shao can stave off these revenging attempts by scouting Hydra's move and either going back into Durant if it's the now weakened draco or threatening to KO if its another move. In which case repeat step 1 where Mienshao baits in a fighting resist or step 2 where Durant just flat out takes a KO.

Blastoise-Mega @ Blastoisinite
Ability: Mega Launcher
EVs: 104 HP / 252 SpA / 152 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Aura Sphere
- Ice Beam
- Dark Pulse

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard

Mamoswine is a very big threat to the team. It doesn't come in easily besides on Gligar the turn it clicks rock but it can either 2HKO or OHKO every member of the team. Scizor can come in to BP after a sack, which lets Blastoise come in. A well-played mega stoise can pressure the team a lot since it has the right moves to hit every member of the team for very big damage. Alt and Volc can come in on it since they are faster (rarely mega stoises will speed creep Volcanion) but have to fear either rocks or a Mamoswine double.

Anyways, congrats to Moutemoute for winning this week!

Rotom-Heat @ Wiki Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 8 SpA / 248 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Toxic
- Defog

The team is built around Mega Sceptile. SD Scizor was my first partner to handle Fairy types that wall Sceptile. Swampert was added as a reliable rocker and handled Mega Aerodactyl and HP Ice Manectric well which can trouble Sceptile. Togekiss was then added to provide cleric support to bolster Swamperts longevity and check Hydreigon. Gengar was then added as a secondary Fairy type check and to break fat balances relying on Amoonguss. The Sub set is chosen to avoid pursuit. The last mon is Rotom-H which gives me defog, Sciz check, and bird check in one slot.

Get your cores in by Thursday.

Manectric-Mega @ Manectite

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Ice] / Hidden Power [Grass]
- Volt Switch

Boring but effective. Hydreigon threatens Swampert, Mega Sceptile (cuz Scarf), Gengar, Rotom Heat, and can melt Scizor. Anything else, it just U-turns into Mega Manectric and clicks either tbolt, volt switch, or flamethrower if Scizor is in. Only real issue is letting Gengar get a sub, but other than that, it's pretty solid vs this team. Hp Ice on Mane is used over Hp Grass cuz a +1 Sceptile is scary when It comes in on Volt Switch. Hp Grass still can be used here, it's just personal preference and what the rest of the team needs.

Togekiss @ Babiri Berry
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Air Slash
- Flamethrower
- Roost

Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Wing Attack
- Pursuit
Babiri Toge can deal with Sceptile, Scizor, and Swampert. Sceptile can't touch it at all due to the lack of Iron Tail, Scizor is lured in with the berry , and Swampert can't do anything besides potentially get off a toxic. Aerodactyl can threaten Gengar and Rotom-H with Pursuit. All three of the remaining mons (gar oven toge) can't take a Stone Edge. With some doubling Aerodactyl can set up Toge to wreck havoc easily.

Nihilego @ Focus Sash
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Sludge Wave
- Power Gem
- Grass Knot

Kommo-o @ Fightinium Z / Poisonium Z
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab
Stealth Rock Sash Nihilego and Dragon Dance Kommo-o are really dangerous for this team. Nihilego is able to handle Togekiss for Kommo-o but also Sceptile-Mega and Gengar to a lesser extent. It can also pressure most of the team thanks to its STABs + Grass Knot which dents Swampert. On the other hand, Dragon Dance Kommo-o outspeed everything on the team after a Dragon Dance and can put a massive work vs it by being able to OHKO both Sceptile-Mega and Gengar with +1 Dragon Claw. On the other hand, Scizor struggles to handle +1 Close Combat while Rotom-Heat is OHKO by it after Stealth Rocks damages. I opt for Z-Close Combat since I don't play Outrage but Poisonium Z is a nice option since it ensures the OHKO on Togekiss after a Dragon Dance (or without a Dragon Dance but Stealth Rock damages).

Houndoom-Mega @ Houndoominite
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

Zeraora @ Life Orb / Shuca Berry
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 64 SpA / 192 Spe
Naive Nature
- Plasma Fists
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Close Combat

So MegaDoom can claim lives once it is at +2, it only needs a bit of chip on Swampert to be able to OHKO it after SR dmg. While it can eat a hit from Mega-Scept pretty well it doesn't wanna be switching into D-Pulse but it can eat one. Rotom-H drops after rocks also and Togekiss dies to Sludge Bomb at +2 as well. Partnered it up with Zeraora because it deals with Swampert and can chunk down Rotom-H. It outspeeds everything except Mega Sceptile which can only revenge it from a high percentage via Leaf Storm which is a free set-up turn for Mega-Doom if so. It's coverage lets it nuke everything hard and can 2OHKO Rotom-H and Scizor on the switch-in after SR dmg. I've been using HP Ice a lot recently mainly for Gligar, but this also picks up the OHKO on Mega Sceptile (With LO) on the switch if it ever tries to take advantage of lightining rod. Due to this team being reliant on Mega Sceptile as its speed control these two can put in a lot of work, hope you enjoy the core ^_^

Salazzle @ Poisonium Z
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 24 Def / 232 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Fire Blast
- Nasty Plot
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit
I think Salazzle's a pretty underrated sweeper right now and it does really well against this team since it can outrun everything barring Sceptile and bop them with a +2 STAB or HP Grass. Scizor can help Salazzle more easily work around Gengar's Substitute and Mega Sceptile thanks to Bullet Punch and Pursuit, but it definitely has to be careful coming in on either, especially due to the threat of HP Fire. Overall this core does pretty well against Adaam's squad. If you can keep Salazzle healthy enough it can even tank a Dragon Pulse from full if desperate times call for desperate measures. Thanks for reading!
